Forced to Marry the Enemy Prince - Chapter 45
What Xian Sheng was worried about actually happened. He had no choice but to take off his veil and explain, “It’s not like what you imagine…”
The Empress immediately sucked in a breath and interrupted him. “That bastard. How can he be so forceful?”
Emperor Jin could not help but get up and come closer for a look.
On Xian Sheng’s white and delicate face, the bruises looked exceptionally shocking. Emperor Jin’s forehead pulsed and his face darkened. Xian Sheng felt extremely awkward, “It’s really not like what you think. I didn’t have any conflicts with Zhan Lue…”
The Empress asked, “Then why did this happen?”
“…” Xian Sheng remembered what happened last night and did not know how to describe it.
When he did not speak, his silence was treated as an affirmation. The atmosphere in the room became strange and Empress almost fainted from her anger. She had already known that Zhan Lue was very wild, but she never expected him to do something like hitting his wife.
What kind of horrible man would do this?
How could such a scandal happen in the royal family?
When Zhan Lue rushed over, the room was filled with an intimidating aura, as if it was an interrogation room. Qi Siyue paid his respects with him. The Empress only said lightly, “You’ve returned. Take a seat first.”
Zhan Lue looked at Xian Sheng subconsciously. When the latter met his gaze, he could notice that Zhan Lue’s expression looked relieved.
“…” I’m not the one going to be punished. It’s you. You!
Xian Sheng tried his best to signal to him. Zhan Lue faced his parents and asked, “May I know…”
“Kneel!” shouted Emperor Jin. Zhan Lue paused for a while and knelt obediently. “May I know what I have done wrong that made Father so angry?”
The Empress walked forward and said, “Don’t you know that your Father hates men who hit women? How can you bear to hit such a beautiful face?”
“…” He could never explain this clearly. Zhan Lue thought about it and decided to just resolve the matter. He said, “I know that I’m wrong.”
Emperor Jin’s expression was very ugly and he told someone to bring the cane over. Xian Sheng could not let Zhan Lue be hit. Wouldn’t this make his comfortable life miserable?
Hence, Xian Sheng walked forward and knelt beside Zhan Lue. He said, “He didn’t hit me. He was drunk yesterday… It’s hard to explain what happened. My injuries will definitely be better by the ancestral worship. Father, please forgive him.”
Emperor Jin could not bear to scold Xian Sheng, so he scolded Zhan Lue instead. “Look. It’s so hard to marry such a nice, pretty and caring wife. Why can’t you learn to cherish her?”
He threw the cane aside. However, the Empress grabbed it and hit Zhan Lue twice, saying angrily, “I ordered the servants to sew ninety-nine pearls onto the ancestral worship clothes so everyone can see that you have a goddess-like wife. Now she’s ruined by you!”
Zhan Lue glanced at Xian Sheng and said to the Empress, “You’re so superficial.”
Emperor Jin’s face became cold. He snatched the cane from the Empress’ hands and hit him twice. This was the punishment for him talking so nastily.
“Cough.” Qi Siyue at the side could not help but say, “I have some medicine here. If you apply it on her tonight, she’ll be fine tomorrow.”
His sentence concluded this entire drama. Zhan Lue did not want to stay any longer, so he took the medicine, pulled Xian Sheng along and said, “I’ll take my leave now.”
“The Ancestral Worship Ceremony will be held three days later. If her injuries have not healed by then, I’ll skin you alive!”
Although Xian Sheng had married into the Crown Prince Palace, she had never publicly shown her face. The Ancestral Worship Ceremony during New Year’s Eve would be the first time. The ceremony was to thank the ancestors for protecting Northern Jin for the year, while praying for the coming year. All the civil and military officials would be there too.
Zhan Lue carried Xian Sheng into the carriage. After looking around to make sure that no one was there, he entered the carriage too. When he saw Xian Sheng laughing, he said coldly, “He must have bragged about you to some old minister. If you were injured, he would lose his face. Don’t think that he’s really caring about you.”
“…” Xian Sheng was fierce to him. “If you dare to bully me in the future, I’ll injure myself and complain to them.”
