“And it was a spontaneous decision to bring Xu Jiahui to the art exhibition today.” Xu Jiaming’s wife spoke with her eyes turning red. “He had been by my side the whole time. Wei Jing too, until he said he was hungry. I wanted to take him out to eat, who knew that he dragged Wei Jing with him and ran out, and meanwhile, I encountered an old acquaintance. The child first put the leaves under the rock, then placed the branches on top of the rock one by one, as if he was building a nest. Lastly, Wei Jing spread out his sweater outside the branches to prevent the rain from dripping in.

The two six or seven year old children held hands, shoulder to shoulder, and huddled in the last remaining sweater to keep each other warm.
