Love's Affliction - Chapter 12-2

The boring beginning and mundane plot filled the theater with scattered chatter and the sound of popcorn being chewed.

Shi Nian Nian ate her popcorn quietly, making very little noise. Jiang Wang could imagine how carefully she was eating, afraid of disturbing others watching the movie. Her teeth slowly bit down.

After eating a few, she turned her head and handed the popcorn to him.

“Nn?”

With her hand propped on the armrest, she leaned toward him.

Her ponytail brushed against his arm.

In a low voice, she said, “You should eat too.”

“I don’t like sweet things,” Jiang Wang replied.

“Oh,” she responded and withdrew.

Even before the movie ended, more than half of the people had already left.

Shi Nian Nian also found it boring. She felt a little tired and yawned, covering her mouth.

Jiang Wang leaned to the side. “Shall we leave?”

She naturally had no objections, and the two of them walked out. Shi Nian Nian slightly bent her body and apologized softly to the few people they disturbed while walking.

It was almost 8 p.m.

The corner of the road was even darker, and Shi Nian Nian couldn’t see anything at all.

She wanted to take out her phone, but accidentally stepped on nothing and fell directly to the ground. Her arm hit the wall before she managed to stabilize herself.

Jiang Wang didn’t have time to catch her.

As he looked up, he saw her groping along the wall, unable to see clearly.

He walked up, wanting to help her, but his gaze fell first on her lips.

He stared at them for a long time, his eyes filled with a dim light.

Then he lightly licked his own lips, taking advantage of her inability to see clearly. He stood in front of her, getting dangerously close.

He was about to lean in.

Just then, he heard her voice, “Jiang Wang…”

His movements paused.

Shi Nian Nian stood to the side, reaching her hand forward. “Wh-where are you? I… c-can’t see.”

He muttered a curse under his breath and straightened up, snapping his fingers near her ear. “Here.”

When they reached the car, Jiang Wang walked toward the driver’s seat and turned to look. Shi Nian Nian had stopped in front of a small vendor.

She took out a coin purse, handed a few coins over to the vendor, and received a warm bag in return.

Jiang Wang noticed that she was holding a steaming hot egg in her hand.

“Are you hungry?” Jiang Wang asked.

She extended her slender hand, and her wrist sparkled with delicate light under the moonlight. “For you.”

Jiang Wang raised an eyebrow, not understanding.

Shi Nian Nian tilted her head back, her black and white eyes looking at him clearly. She pointed her index finger at the corner of her eye. “Otherwise… it will swell.”

He didn’t reach out to take it, his voice carrying a hint of laughter and lightheartedness. “You do it for me.”

He was the reason she got hurt in the first place, so Shi Nian Nian retracted her hand, took out the egg again, crushed the shell in her palm, and handed it to him.

Her fingertips, snowy white, lightly pressed against the egg.

Jiang Wang laughed.

It was the first time Shi Nian Nian saw that kind of smile on his usually proud and arrogant face. His Adam’s apple rolled smoothly, his lips slightly curved upwards, his usual laziness and nonchalance.

To match Shi Nian Nian’s height, he took a step forward with his long legs, bent down, and approached her face.

A square pendant emerged from his collar, a black rope around his neck.

“Do it for me.”

They were too close.

The warmth enveloped them.

Shi Nian Nian was stunned.

This person… he was doing it on purpose.

She placed the peeled egg in his hand. “Do it… yourself.”
