Counting the Night of the Blazing Flame (4)
After a lovely breakfast with just the two of them alone in bed, Lukrov left to take care of some affairs within the castle, as well as to train the knights.
Chizuru, who was left behind, began to prepare for the day with Arde, who appeared in her room after Lukrov left. As Arde made the bed for her, Chizuru dressed herself in a comfortable dress that would allow her to take care of the children.
Chizuru suddenly tilted her head when she saw Arde smiling meaningfully at her.
“Arde, what’s the matter? Is something wrong?”
“No, Chizuru-sama. It’s just that… Well, I just thought that it was usual for the sheets to not be messy. Were both of you perhaps very tired last night?”
“Aa…”
Chizuru’s face immediately turned red, and a strange voice escaped her lips.
Of course, the sheets weren’t messy, after all… the place we were doing it had nothing to do with the bed at all. Looking at Arde, who was standing there looking at her mistress’ flushed face, tilted her head in curiosity.
“What’s the matter, Chizuru-sama?”
“Well… you know…”
For Chizuru, Arde was already like a family.
She was like an older sister to her. In reality, Arde was Chizuru’s servant, but Chizuru didn’t grow up in an environment where she ordered people around. So to her, Arde was the older sister who took care of her in the most caring way possible.
That’s why it was normal for Chizuru to talk to Arde without embarrassment about her troubles.
Although it was rare for Chizuru to discuss intimate affairs between a man and woman, she would sometimes discuss things that she could not reveal to anyone, not even to Lukrov himself.
After all, she was the one who had to clean up the mess after her make-out sessions with Lukrov, so there was not much that could be hidden.
Chizuru told Arde roughly what had happened last night, excluding a few details.
As soon as she left the room to get a blanket, Lukrov, who seemed to have had a nightmare, attacked her aggressively.
The desperation in his eyes was due to the deadly fear he felt that she might have disappeared again.
And…the regret he showed in the morning.
Arde was silent the whole time, listening to Chizuru’s story without interruption.
When Chizuru finished speaking, Arde smiled gently but sadly, and she softly held one of Chizuru’s hands.
“It must have been hard on you. I think you should rest and stay in bed today and not go to the children… I’m sure Lukrov-sama would feel the same.”
Chizuru thought about it for a moment, and then she shook her head.
“No, I’m in so much pain to the point where I can’t move. Though, I still want to see the children’s faces. But sometimes I wonder… how can I ease Lukrov’s suffering…”
Nodding as if she understood everything, Arde slowly lowered Chizuru’s hand and hugged her in a caring manner, just as a real sister would have done.
“Chizuru-sama presence is the best medicine for Lukrov-sama. Time will slowly heal him, don’t forget that.”
“Yes…”
Chizuru’s anxiety was lessened by Arde’s kindness.
Arde continued to make the bed, putting back the pillows, sweeping the dust, and changing the water in the vase. Then, just before Chizuru was about to leave the room to see her children, Arde stopped as if she had just remembered something.
“Arde?”
“I have an idea, Chizuru-sama.”
Arde’s light blue eyes sparkled with joy. It was as if a spark of hope was pouring out of her large eyes. Chizuru’s heart fluttered with curiosity.
“You should have kids. Having little ones hovering at their feet will melt the heart of any strong and stubborn knight. In the first place, he won’t even have time to be depressed!” Arde proudly whispered in Chizuru’s ears.
