Sharing a Dorm with the Enemy from My Previous Life - Chapter 48.2
The Boss’ Loyalty (2)
Although he casually chose what to wear that night, he was a natural fashionista and looked particularly flamboyant and dazzling among the group of ugly boys.
Fang Li quietly pulled his arm and whispered, “Don’t shout anymore. I will wash your clothes for you if it becomes dirty.”
Fu Songhua became happy and hugged his shoulders hard. “Hey, except for washing clothes, can you cook too? If you can cook too, I don’t need to look for a wife anymore in the future.”
“Hahaha!” The boys roared with laughter.
Fang Li bit his lip and glared at him angrily, scolding him in a whisper, “Fuck off.”
“Aiya, your class’ Fang Li can swear at people now. How scary!” Fu Songhua laughed, “As expected. He’s different after becoming a champion. This temper has seen the wind*, ah.”
*T/N: See the wind (metaphor) means that something will grow quickly when it encounters the wind. Generally used to describe the growth of infants and young children.
Ruan Qingmu sat in the middle and picked up several melon seeds, coldly tossing them to his face. “Shut up. We’ve taken you out for a free meal, but you still chirp here.”
Fu Songhua squinted at him, feeling more and more dislike as he looked at him. “Who is eating a free meal? I also participated in AA*!”
*T/N: Splitting the bills.
Ruan Qingmu sneered. “Fine. Don’t forget to collect money from him later.”
Qin Yuan took out his phone. “How much is it? I will give mine too.”
Before Ruan Qingmu could speak, Bai Jing suddenly reached out from the side and firmly held him down. “No need. No need. Boss, yours is free. Our class wants to treat you!”
Ruan Qingmu looked at him in surprise. What was wrong with Bai Jing? Although he was usually in awe of Qin Yuan, it was rare for him to be so polite.
Bai Jing picked up the menu on the table. “Ruan-ge, we’ve ordered some food. You and Boss Qin can see if there’s anything you guys want to eat.”
Ruan Qingmu waved his hand. “It’s up to you guys.”
He suddenly thought of something and picked up the printed menu again, ordering another dish. “Have you guys ordered fish? I want to eat Zhuge grilled fish.”
Qin Yuan silently looked at him.
Bai Jing hurriedly beckoned at the faraway waiter. “Boss, please give each of these three tables two servings of grilled fish!”
Behind everyone, the waiter shouted once and came over, carrying a huge tray. “Okay, adding six servings of grilled fish! First up, the skewers. Twenty marinated lamb skewers, twenty beef tendon skewers, twenty crispy pork bones, twenty grilled sausages, twenty pork belly, twenty chicken cartilage skewers, and one bottle of beer for each table! The vegetables will be served soon!”
“Waaah, let’s start eating!” No one chatted anymore. Everyone had a greedy expression on their faces and went to snatch food after putting on some disposable gloves.
The small shop was simple and even the cups for drinking beer were cheap plastic, not brittle glasses, but the skewers tasted delicious. The ingredients were fresh, full of spices, and grilled at the right temperature and the pork belly was fatty, lean, oily, and fragrant.
The boys went ahead to each snatch a skewer in their hands, but Tang Tiantian’s sweet voice sounded out before they could take a bite into it. “Everyone, wait a minute! Don’t eat first.”
She stood up. “Let’s lift our glasses first and celebrate today’s good result.”
She looked at Ruan Qingmu with a red face and earnestly held the plastic cup using both hands, lifting her cup in a toast at their table. “The main point is to thank our class sports representative. Without him, our Class 9 won’t get this glory.”
The people at the three tables stood up together in a frenzy, grabbing a skewer in their left hand and holding a cup in their right hand. “To Class 9! To the grade’s champion! To our Ruan-ge!”
“Ruan-ge, drink this up first. We’ll take turns to give you a toast after we’ve eaten some food!”
Ruan Qingmu looked at the cup in front, not knowing who had poured a full cup for him. “Shameless. Who poured this? You guys have a half cup, but I’m drinking a full cup?”
Huang Ya righteously howled. “Ruan-ge, you’re a man among men, different from us.”
Ruan Qingmu helplessly cursed. “Fuck off.”
But the cup was already full and he couldn’t pour it into another person’s cup again. He stood up and lifted his cup. “I’m toasting to everyone. To everyone on the field. Regardless of not winning any prize, we would never have been able to get this first place without everyone’s 0.5 points.”
He smiled and especially gave a thumbs up at Fang Li. “It’s fine if you throw up from running, but don’t throw up from drinking.”
The boys laughed out of goodwill and Fang Li’s face flushed red, whispering, “I won’t…”
The boys followed suit. “Yes, yes. Fang Li was awesome today!”
“Five thousand meters. I won’t be able to do it even if I die. And to get first place!”
Ruan Qingmu looked down and lightly knocked his cup against Qin Yuan’s. Then, he drained the beer in one gulp and showed the empty bottom of the cup.
“Waaah, Ruan-ge is so manly!” A group of boys and girls yelled as the clear glasses of beer clashed against each other, creating a foamy mess.
Ruan Qingmu simply sat down, but the boys were already impatient and poured the beer again, giving him a toast in turns. “Ruan-ge. Ruan-ge, you have to drink well today. We will each give you a toast first, and then you can do as you please!”
At the side, Bai Jing also hurried to lift his cup and respectfully said to Qin Yuan, “Boss, I want to give you a toast too.”
Qin Yuan indifferently knocked his cup with him, lowering his head to take a sip.
Bai Jing unhesitatingly drank several gulps and finished his whole cup.
Ruan Qingmu dealt with the boys who came like locusts* while glancing at Bai Jing.
T/N: a large and mainly tropical grasshopper with strong powers of flight. It is usually solitary, but from time to time there is a population explosion and it migrates in vast swarms that cause extensive damage to crops. (Here, it’s saying that the boys kept on swarming around Ruan Qingmu.)
