Speak Money Not Love with the Master - Chapter 2
The car drove all the way to the deeply secluded Xishan villa district within the bustling city (T/N: Xishan, or the Western Hills, is located in the western part of Beijing). This was Luo Chengyu’s downtown residence.
The butler wasn’t surprised to see her. He bowed and greeted his master before also addressing Miss Ye politely and courteously as such.
Ye Wei was no stranger to this place, having been here several times. She responded back politely and went straight up the stairs.
A maid followed her in, “Miss Ye, would you like to take a bath? I’ll prepare the water for you.”
“Sorry to trouble you.”
Ye Wei took off the windbreaker and hung it on the hanger, took off her earrings, necklace, ring, and wristwatch, and then threw them on the table by the window. The dim light of night outside the window was thick. Rows upon rows of neon skyscrapers gleamed in the distance, but the most breathtaking view was actually the dark vermilion lacquered towering city walls of the Forbidden City.
After a while, the maid’s voice called out softly behind her, “Miss Ye, the water is ready.”
She turned, “May I ask if you have something to remove makeup?”
“Yes, but I am not sure whether it can meet Miss Ye’s expectations.”
“Thank you, it won’t do if I don’t remove my makeup”
“Hang on, I’ll go get it for you now.”
The average age of the Luo’s servants was no more than 28 years old. Each and every one of them had been professionally trained to manage the household, were tall, experienced in the field, uniformed, and pleasing to the eyes. Their salaries were even higher than that of ordinary, white-collar workers. The food and clothing provided to them were also all of the best quality. Ye Wei suddenly smiled. The Luo Family had so many beauties, but Luo Chengyu acts as if he doesn’t see them?
Ye Wei removed her makeup. The warm water’s temperature brushed over her whole body, which opened her pores and let the skin drink its full. After a day of exhaustion, she became sleepy while lying in the comfortable bathtub.
After taking the comfortable bath, she blow-dried her hair which was draped over her shoulders. The Tibetan blue silk nightgown against the skin was as lustrous as a jade. The carpet felt soft as she stepped her bare feet on it, relieving the tension from wearing the high heeled shoes.
Suddenly, she stopped in her steps
In front of the wide, floor-to-ceiling windows (T/N: French windows are designed to take up almost the entire space from the floor to the ceiling) was the man in a black suit who radiated off coldness and whose long fingers held the stem of a glass of dark red wine. Dark eyes like ink fell on her.
Ye Wei lowered her eyes, her fingers clenched an inch on the silk satin belt. All she wanted to do was tighten it a bit, but her slender waist couldn’t handle anymore.
Lifting her feet to go forward, her bare feet moved through the soft carpet without any noise at all and with lightness. She leaned her body over slightly as her slender fingers wrapped around the stem of a glass. The faint scent of wine entangled with the fragrance from the bath taken, slowly winding between him and her.
She did not sit down, but held the glass of wine with both hands and walked to another side. With her thin back propped up against the dresser and with one hand hugged across her chest, she carefully tasted the aged and rich mellow wine.
The man was neither in a hurry nor unhurried as he tasted the wine in his glass, his eyes were fixated on her.
After bathing, she was still exquisite and beautiful even without makeup. Dark red wine slowly entered the red lips which were pressed lightly against the corner of the glass. The tall and slender figure was especially exquisite, and the skin under the Tibetan blue silk nightgown was as exquisite as the most exceptional Nephrite (T/N: Nephrite is what it is generally called in English. In China, the specific kind of stone is known as mutton fat jade because of the translucent white or very light yellow color. On the other hand, chicken bone jade is what it’s called if it’s opaque white, light brown, or gray). Along with the accentuated collarbone which moved up and down between breaths and the two slender long legs and velvety ankles, it was enough to provoke the imagination.
At this moment, it was as if every drop of the wine he tasted was her impassioned blood. His ink-like eyes turned deep and endlessly dark.
He suddenly set aside his glass as he got up and walked towards her direction.
The dignified figure stood in front of her, blocking a large portion of the light. He didn’t move. The sense of danger given off by slit and narrowed eyes seemed to wrap around her in layers. Ye Wei gently lifted her red lips and was raising the glass to her lips when, all of the sudden, her body was detained by thick and broad palms which abruptly pulled her towards him. The wine in her glass splashed a little, as a few drops spilled from her lips. Dark red wine dripped onto her spotlessly white skin.
The breath beside her ear suddenly became a bit heavy. As ice-cold yet hot lips fell down, the spilled wine became the best medicine…
This was the relationship between Ye Wei and the master who was known by the population to be mysterious and an enigma. Between her and him, private matters were not spoken of and neither was small talk. Especially feelings of love. It was only when they engaged in “physical exchanges” that one can perceive the relationship between him and her. In that regard, they were not totally unrelated.
They haven’t spent a long time together, only a few months. He was frequently away overseas and even when he returned, what he did was none of her business. The lives that each of them led had nothing to do with each other. And even when they occasionally met, they didn’t need too much nonsense, only to discuss their needs.
Ye Wei carried a clear, thoughtful mind. When it came to a relationship between the man and woman, she was very mature and never unreasonable. Whatever she wanted to do, she did. Moreover, she was also with good looks, good manners, and a good figure. On the other side was a man with exquisite technique, and in this matter, both of them made an agreement. It was enough for her to evaluate his technique during their consummation in which they even progressed a bit vilely.
She fell asleep exhausted. Fast asleep, she seemed to be having a dream but was still sleepless and writhing. She lamented that a good body should mean that she could squander money however she liked. She also seemed to say that he should toss and turn more lightly.
Then she sunk into a never-ending vortex of darkness, sinking endlessly.

Ye Wei was sleeping very deeply before she was awakened in a daze by the ringing tone of a phone. Her usual beautiful but cold face appearance was subdued a bit as her hand reached towards the direction of the ringing. Her eyes still weren’t open by the time she found the phone and randomly swiped it.
“It’s so early in the morning, will you let someone sleep or not.”
The person on the other side of the phone was startled. After confirming that the dialed phone number was correct, “Who are you?”
Calling to ask who she was, did this person have a problem? Before she opened her mouth, the voice of the person on the other end became obviously angered, “Where’s Luo Chengyu?”
The half-dreaming and half-awakened Ye Wei’s drowsiness dissipated and suddenly opened her eyes and stared at the phone in her hands. This wasn’t her phone.
Looking at the connected phone number again, the word “Mother” was clearly written. It was none other than Luo Chengyu’s mother, Zhou Zheng Huiyun.
Ye Wei quickly got up, jumped out of the bed, and rushed out. She immediately thrusted the phone to the man who was walking towards her from the front.
Luo Chengyu looked at the already connected phone and put it to his ear, “Mom.”
This was, in fact, a rare occurrence in a million years. Except for his assistant’s, Mother Luo had never heard anyone else’s voice come from his phone, let alone a woman on such an early morning. It went without saying what kind of relationship they had.
“Who was the woman that answered the phone?”
“Calling so early, is there something going on?”
“Yingxin said you’ve come back from abroad.”
“I went to see the jewelry exhibition. I’ll come back to see you tonight.”
“What you’re saying is irrelevant. Cheng Yu, who was that person just now?”
Even in front of his mother, Luo Chengyu was still cold, “You don’t need to concern yourself over this.”
He said to not concern herself, probably because this person really wasn’t someone she needed to care about. Men. Everyone knows that they can only become normal once they find a woman. But anyone would be curious as to what kind of a woman this was, for she was unexpectedly allowed to answer his phone.
Luo Chengyu was very capable. His cold but wise brains and farsight got the Luo head to become renowned among others as an emotionless, profit-centered robot. When it came to business, strong emotions indeed weren’t a good thing. Being indecisive or overly cautious were big not-to-dos. In that regard, Luo Chengyu was superb and especially capable of leading such a huge family estate like the Luo’s.
As a mother, she’s barely heard of any women around him, and if it weren’t for this phone call, she’d have thought her profit-centered son was some kind of closed-in monk at an ancient temple lit up with blue-green lanterns (T/N: The blue-green lanterns at an ancient temple phrase is used to emphasize the isolation).
Ye Wei truly didn’t have any intentions. After she changed clothes and swept all the accessories she took off the previous night into her bag, she went downstairs.
Luo Chengyu hung up the phone in which he then saw a file sent to his phone by the secretary. As Ye Wei was going down the stairs and saw him, she stammered awkwardly with the corner of the lips, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to. I was still half-asleep.”
She and him had never slept together on the same bed, as each simply took what they needed and then returned back to their own rooms. Their phone ringtones were extremely similar, and there was also how she was fast asleep. Therefore, she was totally unable to tell the difference. The state of mind was very unfavorable.
“Don’t mind it.” Even though he said this, he didn’t even lift his head and his tone was cold.
It’s best if it doesn’t matter, “I’ll be on my now.”
“Let Yang Lin see you off.”
Luo Chengyu had two personal bodyguards, Yang Lin and Yang Sen. The two brothers were retired soldiers, and their skills were first-class.
This wasn’t the first time Yang Lin saw her off. He already remembered the route after the first time. She closed her eyes to take a nap. Not a moment later, the phone got a notification from WeChat.
Xiao Qiao: Sister Wei Wei, Yuan Lu’s fans secretly released the news saying that <The Seamen> has chosen her. It’s so infuriating, you were obviously the most suited for the female lead role.
Ye Wei: If you have so much time, shouldn’t you use it to sleep more instead?
Xiao Qiao: You’re actually awake, I thought you were still sleeping. Her fans are still attacking you while your fans are also not holding back and attacking her too.
Ye Wei: Sister Fan said that this matter is already confirmed. The info she got couldn’t have been mistaken.
Xiao Qiao: I know, I’m just angry. Her fan group must have obtained the information, so I guess the media is already in on it. But they’re even stamping on you, I’m so vexed by her. Hey, why are you up so early anyways?
Ye Wei: Got woken up by the phone
Xiao Qiao thought it was her own message that woke her up. She sent back a smiley face: go back to sleep then.
Ye Wei didn’t reply back. As usual with Sundays, traffic was congested on the streets of Chang’an. Yang Lin had to pass through a few of the smaller streets before taking the main route to send her back home.
After going up the front stairs and entering, Ye Wei kicked off her shoes and walked barefoot into the living room. She threw her handbag towards the direction of the sofa, and filled up a cup of water which she then drank up the bulk of it. After that, she returned to her bedroom and fell onto her bed to continue catching up on sleep.
She was extremely immersed in sleep this time around until the phone on top of the bedside cabinet rang loudly. The matter from that morning put her on high alert. Right after one ring, she immediately opened her eyes. She was undoubtedly at her house.
The call was from Fan He, “Dear sister, will you let someone sleep or not.”
“What time is it and you’re still sleeping, the sun’s already setting.”
Ye Wei turned her head towards the window, the sun shined brightly which meant that it was obviously in the afternoon. She’s already gotten used to how Fan He always exaggerated, “Isn’t it a break day, what’s the matter?”
“The assistant director of <The Seamen> called and asked me to come over.”
Ye Wei heard this, but just responded with an “oh.”
She flipped herself over, set her long feet to the bedside, and then stepped barefoot on the floor before heading out.
“What oh, they decided on Yuan Lu but are still looking for me. Why don’t you think a little, could it be that the other side made some changes?”
“They called you, so just go. Going through the trouble to take the trip over, thanks for all your hard work Big Beauty.”
Ye Wei opened the refrigerator, which was stuffed to the brim. She had a hobby of hoarding food, and after a certain period of time, she would let the assistant take away the food she couldn’t finish. Starting over, she would then buy more and stock up again.
When she wasn’t working, she stayed at home. Her way of resting was also to stay at home, for she didn’t like to meet others in her private time. Of course, that didn’t mean she wasn’t a master when it came to establishing social relations.
In her private time, she listened to music, watched tv, and daydreamed the entire day away. The longest break was that one time after a movie was finalized. Ye Wei took a break for half a month, and in that half month, she never took a step out of her door.
Later on, Fan He came and upon seeing snacks littered all over the living room, her temper nearly erupted.
Ye Wei took a pack of spaghetti noodles out from inside the fridge and proceeded to boil some water in a pot. As for what business the assistant director of <The Seamen> had with Sister Fan, she wasn’t tempted to think too much into it. If there was any news, Sister Fan would definitely notify her immediately.
Xu Zhi’ang made plans to play ball with some people. After he came back, close friends in the circle wanted to give him a celebration.
On the ball court, Xu Zhi’ang waved the tennis racket. Someone waved back in the distance and held up his phone.
He took a towel and wiped the sweat off on his face, “Who is it?”
“Your aunt.”
After Xu Zhi’ang heard that, his steps sped up, “Aunty.”
“Zhi Ang, what are you up to?”
“There’s nothing to do today, so I’m playing tennis.”
“Oh, then I’ll ask you. Did you know that your big brother had a woman?”
“WTF.” This news was way too electrifying. He hastily apologized right after he blurted out those words, “My brother has a woman?”
“The fact that he has a woman isn’t that strange, it’s just that Aunty is a bit curious. Do you really not know or just playing dumb?” Mother Luo took him as her own child. He came to the house often on weekdays. His little mouth was also extremely sweet, so she was even more intimate with him than with her own son. Still, her son was still her son so, even though he said to not be concerned, she was still very curious.
Xu Zhi’ang’s aunt was Luo Chengyu’s mother. Everyone knew of this relationship, so even though Xu Zhi’ang was a bit distant from everyone, there was no one who didn’t prick up their ears at this. They all went to pry into the situation.
A woman? That emotionless Master Luo had a woman? Where did this little fox lady come from?
The young ladies who came to play with them made eye contact with each other, took out their phones, and started the gossip meeting that those in the celebrity circle all loved to participate in.
