The Villainess Does Not Reflect! - Chapter 35.2
Lydis the Bride and the Vessel of the Goddess 1 (10)
“I know. Once again, Lydith. I am pleased that you have become the bride of our Master, Gilbert-sama. I am Ria, the Werewolf King. I am the protector of the King. As long as you are the bride of Lord Gilbert, I pledge my undying loyalty and will protect you. I ask for your kindness.”
Ria said, straightening his posture. Seeing this, Astaroth frowned in annoyance.
“Should I do that too? I don’t have a choice. Thank you… Lydith, for becoming the bride of our master, Gilbert. I am Astaroth the Puppet Master. I’m the King of the Weresnake Tribe, but I don’t think it’s right to call myself that, because the other Tribe members don’t listen to me. I’m a law abiding King. As long as you, Lydith, are the bride of Gilbert, I swear to be forever loyal to you.”
“Astaroth, your story is long and confusing. It is a rule, so can’t you make it more concise? Your use of language is also lacking in refinement.”
“It’s been a long time since you have been back, but you’re so picky, Ria. You don’t have to be so formal, Lydith, you like me better as usual, don’t you?”
Astaroth averted his gaze reluctantly at Ria’s warning.
He then poked at a tomato cut into a flower shape on his plate with his fork and asked me to help him.
Yes, you can be your usual self Astaroth. Thank you, Astaroth-sama, and thank you, Ria-sama. Is this something you do every time?”
“I’ve never had a proper bride before, and I’ve never known of one before.”
Master Gilbert said quizzically.
Ria and Astaroth looked at each other and laughed amusedly.
“That’s right. A long time ago, it was decided that if a king took a proper bride, he would be given special treatment. It would be impolite to treat her the same way as the many other concubines. We agreed that if someone is special to the king, she should be special to us too. But even though we had made that decision, Heinzold suddenly disappeared, and after that it was Lucis and Yule, wasn’t it? Hey, Ria.”
“I know. The actual fact is, this is the first time I’ve ever greeted someone in this way. Yule’s only partner was my sister, but it wasn’t as peaceful as Lidith and Gilbert’s relationship. It is a pleasure to be able to make a decision. Normally, Chuzel would have had to be here, but he wasn’t here when we had our discussions, so there was nothing we could do.”
“I, Ria and Clive decided on it, I think. That was a long time ago.”.
I put a spoon into the soup plate in front of me. The soup was reddish in color and was made up of small pieces of vegetables.
I had eaten nothing but the fruit served at Ria’s since this morning, so I was relieved when I felt the gentle taste of the soup seeping into my stomach.
“Clive has been with me since I was little, but it seems that the only person who knew that he was a demon was the successive heads of the Annemarie family for generations. When I was about to come here, he told me that he was a vampire.”
I hope Clive is well. I wonder if he misses me and cries every day with my brother.
“He’s changed, hasn’t he?”
Astaroth nodded.
The old Clive probably didn’t have the personality to regularly dance the dance of respect for the young lady.
The name “bloodsucker” means that he must have drunk a lot of blood, and perhaps that is where the bloodstained nickname came from.
” That means, Lydith. Since Clive, who connected the world to us for Lydith, and Chuzel, who rarely speaks to us, have talked to you, that probably means that Chuzel approves of you too. Lydith, who has been recognized by all of us in the king’s old entourage, will be able to become Queen with dignity.”
“I agree. If Lydith was just a helpless human Maidsn, we wouldn’t respect her either. It would be a shame to give… you to Gilbert, but we welcome you with open arms.”
“Thank you very much for that. I will do my best not to disappoint you for welcoming me this warmly.”
Astaroth and Ria said happily.
I stopped eating and thanked them lightly.
Gilbert’s hand caressed my hair.
“You are fine as you are”
“That’s right, Lydith-chan. It’s enough, if you show me your cheerful face every day and sometimes tell me that you love me, Astaroth-sama, that’s all that matters to me.”
“Lydith-san, it’s okay. Just spending time with me from time to time is enough for me.”
“Why is that so? It is good that you approve of Lydith, but don’t make it more than it needs to be. Lydith, too, stay away from this Snake and this dark-hearted Wolf.”
Gilbert-sama glared at Astaroth and Ria with abhorrence.
They didn’t mind at all and seemed to be enjoying the fact that Gilbert was angry.
“Lydith!”
Gilbert scolded me when I replied with a smile because there was no need to reject the kindness that was directed at me.
It’s very skillful to get jealous just by imagining things.
“‘Well. So much for making fun of the young King, let’s get down to business, shall we?”
Astaroth said in a slightly serious voice.
I was told to “listen while you eat,” so I unhesitatingly brought the sautéed fish to my mouth.
The non-habitant white fish and the citrus-flavored sauce mingled on my tongue, and a refreshing aroma spread through my mouth.
