Ejed glanced at them.

“What is it?”

He asked as kindly as possible, but his low voice made him sound sarcastic in the first place.

The expression of the two aides who came in was not very good.

Ejed turned his gaze back as far as possible. That way, others won’t be uncomfortable.

It was a sad habit created by a long misunderstanding.

Doher politely looked at the table and smiled.

“You were having a meal, I’m sorry.”

“I’m done eating.”

Even though he showed consideration through his words, Ejed could clearly see he wanted to run away. His words were probably sarcastic.

He hated it, so he lowered his eyes further, and he heard something strange.

“Your Majesty, I have something to say. It might be a good idea to bring Miss Dsev to the Imperial Palace.”

Now Ejed raised his head.

Doher’s smile froze when Fiz asked, confused.

‘Hey, I asked because I don’t know what you mean!’

Doher barely swallowed down the rude remarks he almost spat out to his superior, Fiz.

No, no matter how tactless he was. 

Swallowing his innermost thought, he smiled gracefully and explained quietly.

“I’m not sure yet, but it seems like His Majesty is in need of a conversation with Annie Mill Dsev, for whatever reason. He seems to be having some trouble, so I was wondering if we should help create an opportunity for him.”

“Hey, if that Lady is fluent in seven languages, we can try hiring her as a new assistant.”

‘Should we? For some reason, I’m not sure about that…’

When Doher was confused, Fiz would respond in an elegantly sassy way that didn’t suit him.

“Actually, I have known His Majesty for a long time, huh.”

“…”

“It’s not common to see such a smart Lady, which was why His Majesty was so proud of Lady Dsev’s declaration. Do you understand, newcomer?”

Fiz tried to be arrogant whenever he had the time these days.

As his voice grew louder, Doher pressed his index finger against his lips.

“Shh.”

Fiz, surprised by the wind, shut his mouth. Doher breathed deeply, gazing at the tightly closed dining room door.

If he went in like this, he would probably have to say goodbye to the world, and his grandmother who died would gladly hug him again.

Still, unlike Ejed’s more bloody look these days, that lonely figure kept lingering. It was like the day after his innocent younger brother expressed his disappointment.

Although the reason was uncertain, they decided to help, though a natural fear blocked their mind.

Doher sighed after staying up all night with all sorts of anxieties.

‘Ugh. I never thought that I would be a loyal servant and risk my life…’

After swallowing dry saliva, the two aides stepped into the dining room with Ejed’s permission.

“What is it?”

With those dry words, the surrounding plants seemed to have dried up. Next to him, Fiz felt the same way and trembled.

For some reason, his grandmother’s face looked clearer these days. Doher mustered some courage, though his throat was as dry as the drought.

“You were having a meal, I’m sorry.”

“I’m done eating.”

The dishes on the table were completely untouched. The spoon in the round soup bowl also didn’t seem to have been used.

Ejed’s words seemed to contradict his actions. He was just starting to eat.

In fact, Ejed did not even give a glance. The only fork placed on the plate was slightly stained to red.

‘Blood… No. Is it a tomato?’

Doher, frightened and sweating, spoke up.

“Your Majesty, I have something to say. It might be a good idea to bring Miss Dsev to the Imperial Palace.”

“Senior, maybe just zip your mouth shut and be quiet.”
