Do Flowers Bloom in the Fallen Land? - Chapter 133.1
“How…?”
By the time Aven arrived, knights and soldiers had surrounded the outside of the temple. The door to the tower was blocked by homunculi pretending to be priests, and a tense standoff continued. How did Seira, who was targeted by both sides, get here alone?
Aven examined her frantically, making sure she had no injuries.
Elina poked her head out from behind him.
“Who…?”
“Hello, saint. It’s an honor to meet you. I’m an old colleague of His Royal Highness.”
Elina asked, looking at Seira with rounded eyes.
“So, the Knight of Ascan?”
“That’s right.”
Wearing a dark blue uniform, make-up free face, and carrying a sword, added credibility to Seira’s words that she was an Askan knight. Perhaps because she thought she was a worthless person, Elina quickly lost interest in Seira.
Of course, Aven couldn’t do that at all.
“How did you come here?”
“There’s probably not a small number of knights who’ve entered. I’m just one of them.”
“What’s that…”
“There’s a hole in the tower. Quite a few places.”
“…”
Was it possible that it was her who made the tower shake so hard many times? She whispered as she approached him, who stood stiffly.
“You were supposed to go with me anywhere.”
Then, she touched Aven’s earlobes. The earrings that Seira had given him as a wedding gift shook with a clear sound.
‘No way… Was it a relic?’
He sincerely hoped it wasn’t just a congratulatory gift, but now it seemed that it was a magic tool used to transport her to his location.
Even though it was a difficult situation, Aven couldn’t control his joy. The small accessory Seira gave him felt like her desire to possess him.
He wished she’d do that to him as much as his ugly greed wanted to tie her up so that she wouldn’t be able to get away, but that wish came true.
“Your fiancée is so pretty. Good for you, Aven.”
Moreover, looking at her innocent expression, it seemed like she was even jealous. He loved her so much that he wanted to snatch her bare lips right away and dig deep inside her. If they weren’t in the middle of enemy territory, he wouldn’t hesitate to do that whether Elina was watching or not.
Before his eyes grew darker, Seira took a step back.
“From now on, I’ll protect you both.”
Aven had no choice but to nod his head as she looked at him intently, as if to match his words.
“I see. Then please do me a favor.”
The noise of the battle was approaching, as if it were true that the knights had entered the tower. Since this happened, he had to finish the work while the Homunculus were stranded dealing with the knights.
Aven moved quickly so that Seira couldn’t run ahead of him. Elina was in the middle, Seira followed, guarding the rear.
“A knight of Askan must be familiar with the Duchess.”
Elina suddenly asked Seira a question.
“That’s right.”
“I’ve never met her before. Who is she?”
“She is a very brave woman.”
“No… What about her appearance?”
“A lean but battle-optimized muscular body?”
“…?”
Aven was constantly distracted by the conversation between Elina and Seira, who were whispering in the background, and had to grit his teeth.
“It is difficult to find a match among Alphas. If I had to choose, I would be the Crown Prince or the commander-in-chief.”
“…Wow, that’s amazing.”
“Right?”
It seemed like the aftereffects of not being active in social circles were useful. Thanks to Elina’s silence as she couldn’t get the answer she wanted, Aven was able to focus again, and before long he arrived in front of his target location.
And finally, Aven faced his father, the greatest weapon of the temple, Bern Clemens Viseltium.
*
Seira was surprised the moment she saw the man falling from above and blocking their path.
‘The color of his eyes…!’
Bern’s eyes, which were originally as black as Aben’s, were filled with red light. Just like a Guardian.
Aven, who thought he wasn’t going to try and talk at least a word, rushed at Bern. Seira could tell at a glance that it was a full blown attack, not just a cursory stab.
‘He’s trying to kill him. He means it.’
This was the same for Bern.
Even though she had no idea what he was thinking, the kindness of giving her a teddy bear, patting her head, peeling tangerines, and putting them in her mouth was all gone. Like the Guardian protecting the nest, he was full of murderous energy towards intruders.
‘This is what Louis meant when he said it would be different. They had completely taken away any remaining free will.’
Seira could see why Bern had become this way. Perhaps it was because Isabel and Tesser had kidnapped him and hid him against her will. If he was left alone, one wouldn’t be able to predict what unexpected actions he’ll take.
