Do Flowers Bloom in the Fallen Land? - Chapter 151.1
“What? How?”
“The reason those kids became like that was because their bodies couldn’t withstand the poison from the giants. If they manage to balance the blood of Viseltium, they will naturally regain their original form.”
“If that’s the case, wouldn’t we have tried it a long time ago? Even the temple had Bern’s presence…”
“There was no reason for that.”
Louis shrugged.
“Except for a few people like me who they could use openly, it was much easier if they were in that state. The chances of them rebelling was reduced, and the risk of them running away was lower.”
“…You bad guys!”
Louis stared at Seira, who was grumbling with anger. It seemed like she was really going to accept them as her family. Although Aven doesn’t really think so.
Whatever the reason, her anger for him and his siblings was much more than he thought… He felt good.
“It’s true that the best way is to do what you say, for sure. But… I don’t want to get his help.”
“Why?”
“I don’t know what to offer in return. What if he demands something from Seira?”
What if he demanded her handed over like he did with Askan’s revival, and what if he were to wield her as he pleased? He’d rather die with his siblings than to do so. Even though he’d be hated forever by her.
“Well… Louis doesn’t know much about His Majesty. Well, I also misunderstood him a bit.”
Seira said with a slight tilt of her head.
“No one gives you everything you ask for as much as His Majesty… If there is, maybe Baron?”
In a word, he was a fool.
“…What?”
“Don’t be fooled by appearances. He’s surprisingly innocent.”
“I have no idea who Seira is talking about.”
Even Aven did not deny Baron’s words. It seemed that Seira had no idea what kind of nickname Calrad was called in the political arena of the imperial capital.
“Anyway, I’ll talk to him about it, so don’t worry.”
“No, Seira…”
Seira smiled to reassure the restless Louis. She felt sorry that the Alpha’s facial expressions only got darker as she did so.
*
When she emptied all the bowls of rice wine and left the bedroom, Seira couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise. The appearance of the duchy’s interior had changed almost exactly as she had seen in her dream.
Solid walls and columns that had hardly any traces of time, shone white with the sunlight permeating through the window. The sight of the cozy sunlight filling the space overwhelmed her heart.
In addition, most of the tapestries, paintings, and sculptures that adorned the interior of the castle were back in place.
“…”
Seira tried hard to hold back tears as she checked each item that held her memories one by one. She pretended to be okay, but when she heard rumors that they were on the black market, but the truth was that she wanted to get them back so much. Occasionally, other paintings and ornaments were placed, but they matched as if they belonged in place.
This would’ve been impossible without enormous wealth, information, and an interest bordering obsession. It was obvious who had done all this.
“Calrad.”
Standing at the bottom of the central staircase, he looked up at her.
“Seira, you’ve really woken up.”
As if rushing to hear the news, his face under his disheveled hair was sharper and paler than in her memory.
When Baron, who followed her like a puppy, tactfully avoided him, Seira went down the stairs and faced Calrad.
With his large physique and cool aura, the 28-year-old Calrad was dignified as the owner of the empire. However, unlike before, he didn’t seem difficult. Perhaps it was because she had met a 14-year-old boy who had a much more colorful expression that he does now.
While Seira stared at him, Calrad also looked closely at her.
“Where does it hurt? Are you sick”
“No.”
“You look skinny. Did you eat?”
Seira answered half-heartedly, tracing his eyebrows and deeply wrinkled eyes with her gaze.
“Yes, I did.”
“…Well, that’s a relief.”
He smiled awkwardly, perhaps interpreting her attitude.
“I stopped by on the way over to see if you were okay. I’ll be going now, so please rest.”
“Are you leaving already?”
His lips, which had opened reflexively when she asked, closed again. Soon, Seira saw the rare sight of Calrad avoiding her gaze.
“The Crown Prince seems to like you very much. For his sake, consider taking the position of empress. It’s not like there’s no precedent for this.”
Seira’s eyes widened with his words. It was very similar to what the boy, Calrad, told her in his dream. Thanks to this, she was able to recognize it right away.
‘This is how you run away.’
He seemed to think that it was best to turn his back when he realized that he should not be greedy.
‘If you want something that is not your place, you’ll get seriously hurt.’
She couldn’t see what kind of expression he was making at the moment Seira said it since he was carrying her on his back.
Perhaps the answer was the Calrad before her now. He lowered his head and clenched his teeth to suppress the desire to reach out and hug her at any moment.
For him, who witnessed how ugly his father had become while coveting the throne, the only way was to lock himself up. They couldn’t call him a coward at this point.
“Cal, I have a favor to ask of you.”
He flinched at the nickname that came out of Seira’s mouth, and fixed his gaze on the edge of her chin as he asked.
“What is it?”
“I need Viseltium’s blood to return the homunculus to human form. Can you help them?”
“Oh…”
He hesitated for a moment, and quickly nodded.
“Yes, of course, I shall help; but I may leave the imperial capital sooner or later… I’ll talk to Louis and find a way.”
As expected, Seira let out a sigh as she watched him say that he’d give his blood unconditionally. Shouldn’t he at least try to make a deal to avoid that damn life sentence?
“Thank you.”
His ears were red with her gratitude.
