Do You Know How to Capture a Villain? - Chapter 63.1
Shen Rongyu stretched his head sideways, allowing the line of his neck to elongate. The moonlight pouring in the window cast light but deep shadows on his neck, outlining the contours of his bones.
He fixed his eyes on the epiphyllum imprint behind his ear. The extended petals grew slenderly at the end and matched with the crimson shade, exuding a hint of coquettish beauty under the moonlight.
This was no doubt Ji Qingzhou’s work, because although the epiphyllum jade pendant on his waist was simple in shape, the patterns roughly resembled it.
Shen Rongyu asked himself, Why are almost all his clothes related to epiphyllum?
Maybe he just liked it. There was no reason.
In the mirror, his long eyelashes trembled slightly, but nobody could fathom what was running in his mind.
His sleeves fluttered with the wind, and everything around him settled extremely quiet at that moment.
In an instant, he disappeared in place. The room went dead silent, compounding the icy cold moonlight under the autumn sky.
——
Ji Qingzhou cleaned up after Shen Rongyu left and got ready for bed. The moment she returned to White Water Island, she first went to feed You You, so she didn’t need to go to Shen Rongyu’s courtyard again.
She lowered her head and splashed the hot water in the copper basin onto her face. Since the room was warm, she took off her fox fur and dropped it on the chair beside her. She had just finished painting and her face was dripping with sweat brought about by nervousness.
After taking a shower, Ji Qingzhou felt much better. She looked at Sansan with the epiphyllum painted on it and felt somewhat gratified.
It was as if some wish was fulfilled. Her heart, which was easily contented, seemed to be warmly wrapped up, and she felt fittingly snug.
Before going to sleep, she carefully placed Sansan beside her bed, then climbed onto the bed and went to sleep.
She was wrapped up in her thick quilt. She bundled herself into a big rice dumpling and buried her head inside, exposing only the back of her head. It gave off the impression that she could only fall asleep peacefully when drifting off in this manner.
Time passed by, and then in the silence of the night, a figure flew across the moonlight, heading straight for Ji Qingzhou’s residence.
Maomao, who was quietly sleeping in a corner of the courtyard, was awakened by the sound of footsteps. He raised his head and glanced at Shen Rongyu. Finding that the visitor was an acquaintance, he lowered his head and fell asleep anew.
Shen Rongyu gripped Burial Snow in his hand, pushed the door, and walked straight into Ji Qingzhou’s room. The moonlight poured inside from behind him, outlining the tall and slender silhouette of the man.
He stared at Ji Qingzhou who was lying quietly on the bed, his beautiful long eyelashes drooping. However, the killing intent emanating from his eyes could not be concealed.
To him, Ji Qingzhou might as well be a fun object, something he could keep and tease. Watching her reaction was also quite interesting.
Unexpectedly, she managed to leave a mark on him — with her blood. This was a mystery Shen Rongyu could not understand, but he loathed the feeling of being under someone’s control… Ji Qingzhou had left marks on him, albeit unknowingly, but he… he found it hard to accept.
Since this was unacceptable, he had to kill her.
He raised his sword, approached Ji Qingzhou’s bed, and gazed at her.
Ji Qingzhou was sleeping soundly. She never dreamed, so her breathing was even and shallow at this time.
She was clutching her quilt tightly. However, even in her sleep she still displayed such an insecure posture, as if no one could have the power to make her feel at ease. It also showed how immensely doubtful she was of herself.
Even in deep sleep, her expression was dull, her thin lips were tightly pressed, and her long eyelashes drooped quietly on her closed eyes, like a perched butterfly.
Shen Rongyu took one more glance at her, and his eyes traced the light and shadow of the moonlight on her cheek. He did not hesitate any more. He unsheathed his sword, and Burial Snow glinted coldly under the moon. The mirror-like body of the sword reflected the quiet sleeping face of Ji Qingzhou.
It was just that, as the sword-light was about to fall, Shen Rongyu stopped. He raised his hand, ready to pull back the blanket that was wrapped around Ji Qingzhou a bit.
Maybe there was no need to cut her face. All he had to do was slice her with his sword along the neck or stab her and then her soul would be gone. However, he could also make her into a mindless puppet, his exclusive puppet.
When Shen Rongyu pulled away the quilt covering Ji Qingzhou, she felt the chill and sneezed.
She didn’t notice that Shen Rongyu had come and just went back to sleep quietly, with no special expression on her face.
However, she sensed Shen Rongyu’s aura. Because of his killing intent, he no longer maintained his disguise. Even his palms were cold. When he pulled the quilt on her body with his cold hand, Ji Qingzhou perceived a familiar air.
It was the red qi, growing in the boundless sea of blood, the very same red qi that always clung to her tightly.
Ji Qingzhou turned her face sideways and rubbed it against Shen Rongyu’s fingers, just the way she did in their cultivation space. This was nothing more than a conditioned reflex. So long as the red qi was close to her, she would respond in this manner.
Shen Rongyu’s fingers pressed against her cheeks. Her face might have been exposed in the wind and cold, or for some other reason, his fingers were way too hot.
His long eyelashes fluttered subtly. His fingers froze, and he abruptly moved in a certain direction.
Perhaps… There was no need to use his sword. His sword was bloodthirsty, and if it absorbed all her flesh and blood, there would be nothing left of her.
If he strangled her, no scars would be left, and there would be no need to cover up the wounds she would sustain if he turned her into a puppet.
Since he opened the door and took a glance at Ji Qingzhou, he had changed his mind twice and conceded both times.
Yet, Ji Qingzhou almost did nothing. She just lay there quietly, but she was able to collide and crush the killing intent that he had amassed.
