Escaping the Archduke of the North's Obsession - Chapter 108.2
Isabella’s eyes widened in shock when Duke Kyar took out a medicine bottle from his pocket and handed it to Kyle.
It was medicine she made for the Archduke from the ‘Gloria’ she had picked.
“Isabella created this medicine, and I thought it might help you if you take them during your training. You’re here to train, right?” Duke Kyar asked.
Kyle nodded shyly.
“How did you know I was training in this forest?”
“Of course, I know! How could I not notice when you’re working so hard? Kyle, I’m more interested in you than you think.”
“I’m sorry, uncle.”
“What are you sorry about? Don’t worry. This medicine shall help you with your weaknesses. Right, Isabella?”
At Duke Kyar’s question, Kyle’s eyes turned towards Isabella.
“Yes. This medicine had ‘Gloria’ as its main ingredient. This particular flower will help you increase the power of ice lying dormant within you. Also, be aware that your system might not be capable of handling the cold well, and feeling gut-wrenching pain is normal after drinking this medicine for the first time.”
“It’s all right. I can endure any pain as long as I possess the power of the ice.” Kyle answered without hesitation.
Isabella smiled, knowing that he could handle the pain and overcome his weaknesses.
“After years of consistent training, I’m sure that you can use the power of ice with the help of this medicine–”
As Kyle glanced up at him, he wore a strange expression as if his uncle’s words touched him.
He was ecstatic that somebody had finally appreciated and recognized his efforts.
“—but if you still failed to summon the power of ice, I’d still accept you wholeheartedly because you are still part of the Kyar family, Kyle.” Duke Kyar quickly added just in case the results disappointed him.
He didn’t want his nephew to worry about the consequences of failing to have it.
“I should drink this medicine and start training, then,” Kyle told them before he walked to the coldest training area in the forest.
Isabella and Duke Kyar followed Kyle in silence.
When they arrived at the training site, Kyle immediately drank the medicine as Isabella and the Archduke observed him nervously.
As the severe cold seeped into every pore of his skin, Kyle endured the pain and moved with his sword.
The mental fortitude of this thirteen-year-old was terrific.
He kept on going, refusing to give up.
That was how tough he was.
Despite witnessing this the second time, Isabella’s anxiety grew more intense every time she saw Kyle’s body wobble.
It was hard to see Kyle suffer so that he could acquire the power of ice.
Isabella kept her gaze on Kyle while fiddling with her thumbs, and Duke Kyar settled a large hand on her shoulder to calm her down.
“Don’t worry, Isabella. I’m sure Kyle will get through this.”
He seemed more peaceful compared to her, who knew the outcome.
At that moment, Kyle said excitedly. “Look, did you see that?”
As if on cue, blue ice had formed at the tip of Kyle’s sword.
Kyle had succeeded in summoning ice for the first time in his life.
Pleased, Isabella and Duke Kyar nodded at him with big smiles.
**
Since Kyle wanted to stay in the woods to train some more, Isabella and Duke Kyar left him behind to return to Rubella castle.
Isabella had wondered how she could give Kyle’s medicine naturally. But with the Archduke’s unexpected help, she was able to hand it over without breaking a sweat.
Things have changed a lot compared to the past, but Isabella liked this situation much better.
Now that he had figured out Duke Kyar’s true feelings about him, Kyle could finally trust and rely on his uncle.
Imagining Kyle’s mood becoming brighter, Isabella looked up at the Grand Duke walking next to her.
“How did you know that I wanted to give that medicine to Kyle?”
At Isabella’s question, Archduke Kyar smiled.
“I just know. It appears like our dreams match each other as well.” He murmured cryptically.
Isabella’s eyes widened in surprise. “Dream?”
“Something like that. Have you forgotten them?”
Isabella looked perplexed at his sudden question.
“What?”
“I guess you’ve completely forgotten about me because you’ve been distracted by Kyle.”
It only occurred to her that Isabella hadn’t said happy birthday to him yet.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I should have told you earlier. Happy birthday, Your Highness.”
Isabella flashed him a bright smile but he looked rather displeased at her radiant greeting.
“Is that it?”
“No, there’s a gift, too. Wait a minute.”
Isabella hurriedly opened the bag and took out his gift that had been packed in advance.
Duke Kyar’s dark eyebrows furrowed as he received the luxurious wooden box.
“Why? Don’t you like it? It’s a nutritional supplement for you, Your Highness.”
“No, I like it. I’m just a bit surprised.”
Surprised?
Was he disappointed that she had given him medicine for his birthday?
She was certain he liked it before.
He didn’t seem interested in the nutritional supplements.
Duke Kyar quickly opened the box as if he were looking for something else.
However, a smile had spread on his face when he found her letter in it.
He seemed to like the letter more than the gift.
Once again, the Grand Duke looked grim as he opened the envelope and checked the letter’s contents.
“Is there anything else besides the letter?”
“Anything else?”
“Yes. Why don’t I have the wish coupon?” He whined like a child.
The corner of her lips curled in amusement.
It occurred to her that they had kissed passionately afterward as he held the wish coupon in his hand.
“Why?” She chuckled. “Will you kiss me again if I give you a wish coupon?” Isabella asked without thinking.
When she realized what she had just said, her eyes grew larger.
Duke Kyar’s pupils also shook when he heard it.
How did he know about the wish coupon?
She assumed that he didn’t remember what happened between them in the past.
