“You got something good. If something dangerous happens, it will protect you.”

“Miss Kariya, how do you know that right away?”

“I’ve been interested in this , so I’ve been researching for a long time.”

Kariya pulled her lips. Her face was full of confidence.

“There is no magic I don’t know about.”

A smile came out of her confidence.  As a woman, she was so cool that even I fell for her. My eyes were shining and I kept on holding my head back.

Kariya tapped my forehead.

“I definitely said it would be bad if you picked up anything, but you’re a troublemaker.”

“I didn’t pick this up, it just on it’s own-”

Kariya’s hand stretched out abruptly and lightly covered my face.

“Miss Kariya?”

“It looks exactly like Chase.”

Kariya, who massaged my cheeks, did not stop there, but also pressed around my neck, hands, stomach, and so on.  Surprised by her sudden touch, I soon realized that she was examining me, and quietly entrusted my body to her.

“How is your body, is there anything different from usual?”

“What do you mean by different?”

“Suddenly having a headache, or your vision getting blurred.  You might feel like floating.”

“No, not at all.”

“Then that’s enough.”

Is that it? I wanted a detailed explanation but Kariya turned her back on me, as if she had no intention of saying more.

“Is something wrong with my body?”

“No, you’re the strongest person I’ve ever seen.”

She patted me on the shoulder, saying, “You’re more like a general who would have commanded the world if he had gone to war.”

Kariya’s boisterous laughter echoed in my ears.

“Okay, take this.”

Just like giving a prize to a child who completed an excellent examination, a strawberry-flavored candy was given to me as well.

“If your business is over, go home immediately.”

“But-”

“Or would you like to have a drink with me?”

As Kariya winked at me and took out a drink from her drawer, a frightened Liliana quickly snatched it away.

“Miss Kariya!”

“It’s hard. I don’t know if the day will come when I can have a drink with you.”

With a slight click of her tongue, Kariya pushed me and Liliana to enjoy her drink. When I stepped out, I looked at the closed door.

“My Lady, I’m sorry… ”

“It’s okay. I don’t care.”

What worried me more was why Kariya was interested in my physical condition.  Kariya’s questionable attitude increased my curiosity, but I had no answers.

We were able to reach the mansion safely thanks to Liliana.

“I’ll get going now.”

“Thank you for dropping me off so late. Goodbye.”

As I waved at Liliana, I gulped feeling strong glares on my shoulder. When I turned to the source of it, I saw Lanoa and Leonard with scary faces.

What is to come would come. As I secretly averted my eyes at the cold eyes of the two, both sides grabbed my arms as if they would never let go.

“Be quiet.”

“Follow us.”

The voices of the two dragging the end of each letter were terrifying.

“Wait, calm down.”

“I will go to the duke.”

While I was caught, the Baron, who quickly bit himself, bowed his head.

You’re such a cheap person! I even saved your life, but you pretend you don’t know and just walk away like a loach?

I was dragged by two men, staring at the baron’s back. I climbed the stairs, passed the hallway, and finally stood in front of the door of Leonard’s room, shaking my head.

“I feel wronged. It’s not my fault that I was attacked.”

If I go in here, I wouldn’t be able to come out for at least an hour!

When they held out with a strong feeling of foreboding, blood vessels sprang up in their arms.

“If something happens, shouldn’t you come home quickly?”

“The tower must have been more comfortable than the house.”

The words had an edge.

In the end, because of having made my family worried, I was dragged to listen to their nagging for over thirty minutes.

‘I’m going to die…’

Lanoa alone made my ears bleed, but with Leonard also joining in, I felt like I was going to die. When I slumped down on the sofa dispiritedly, Lanoa, thinking that this was enough, asked about the incident.

“So did you find out anything?”

“Their purpose was to capture and take me alive. They tried their best not to hurt me.”

“Were they trying to take you hostage?”

Leonard, who was rubbing his chin with a frown, asked.

“It must be the Empress.”

“I don’t think it’s the empress. If it was the empress, she would have sent a monster, not a human.”

A monster did appear unexpectedly, but it was purely driven by my blood, and was not intended.

“If she wanted to send a monster, she would have sent a chimera.”

On second thought, I knew it wasn’t the Empress. And the two of them agreed to my guess.

Considering the Empress’s record in the duchy, the incident did not seem to have anything to do with her.

I asked Lanoa, who was glaring holes at  the table with a serious expression.

“Brother, do you know something? There must be a reason why you suddenly attached two bodyguards to me.”

“His Highness requested it. Since unusual things kept happening around you, he asked me to keep an eye on it.”

“His Highness did?”

Why did Sihael ask him to give me a bodyguard? Did he predict this would happen?

At the coming-of-age ceremony, were there any suspicious circumstances that I didn’t know about?

‘Then why didn’t he tell me?’

I felt frustrated as to what was going on around me.
