How To End a Crush - Chapter 48.1
Noah sunbae and I.
The son of a marquis from the capital and the daughter of a countryside viscount.
The male lead of that book and a supporting female character.
Just as the Book of Prophecy said, I did fall for sunbae at first sight, and chased him around while trying not to be noticed. And everytime I met his eyes, my mind would fall into a tizzy, and I would write in my diary, unable to sleep all night. But, to be honest, I had never once thought that things would work out between me and Noah sunbae.
It was because everytime I saw him, it felt like someone was going “You?” inside my head while laughing at me. Plus, the relationship between Noah sunbae and Flora sunbae had always looked special to me. Of course I know now that they are not in that kind of relationship, but I’d thought so because of how great a person Flora sunbae was.
Anyway, I didn’t dare confess to him, and I instead hid under my blanket, suffering silently. Perhaps, if it hadn’t been for the Book of Prophecy, I would have continued suffering till now, unable to confess my feelings.
……although things aren’t much different now.
“……noona, noona?” Arkhan said, waving right in front of my face.
“……you are thinking of something else again, noona.”
“Huh? Ah, I am sorry.”
I patted both my cheeks and shook my head hastily. We had finally set a time to get together, but there I was thinking of other things. I felt so sorry.
“I am a bit tired today,” I said, giving him a vague excuse, while I pressed hard on my eyelids.
Arkhan reached forward and took the snack I had in hand, before staring at me for a while. His gaze felt so hot that it made me stammer.
“Wha- what is it? Why are you looking at me?”
Arkhan pointed at my eyes and replied.
“Your eyes are red, noona. You didn’t sleep last night?”
“Ah,” I said, touching my eyes. “Yeah.”
Sleep did seem to have run from me last night.
As I yawned sleepily, Arkhan tapped on his knee, winking.
“Really? Do you want to sleep for a bit? I can lend you my knee.”
“No, don’t worry about it,” I replied as strength seemed to leave my body. The hard back of the bench was uncomfortable to rest on. I twisted around on the bench, frowning, as I tried to get comfortable, when all of a sudden, my view turned upside down.
“Ahhh~”
Having lost my balance due to some strong force, I was left lying on Arkhan’s lap. His muscled thigh was just as hard as the bench. I removed the hair that covered my eyes as I grumbled.
“Hey, you scared me, you know.”
“You look sleepy, so take a nap.”
Arkhan kept me on his lap, and avoided my eyes, looking elsewhere. I laid still and looked up at him. His red hair grew just past his ears, covering their edges. Then my gaze passed his thin lips before turning away.
I probably never noticed because he was always smiling. But when expressionless, he looked quite fierce, like he was angry.
“Hey, try to smile as often as you can.”
At my sudden words, Arkhan smiled and looked down at me.
“Do you want me to smile at someone else?”
“What the heck? That sounded so weird.”
Both he and Gloria sunbae loved to spout cheesy lines that only appeared in those old-age romance novels. What were they teaching them at the Department of Swordsmanship?
“Ah, this annoying curly hair.”
Annoyed, I ran my hand through my hair that had become tangled because I was lying down.
“I just want to hack the whole thing off,” I said, raising my top half off his thigh.
“Why? It looks pretty,” Arkhan protested, messing the ends of my hair.
“Really? Well then, if a handsome kid like you is saying that, I guess it must be true,” I said as I blew at my hair.
“……am I handsome?”
“Yeah.”
Arkhan played with my face, a look of fascination on his. Most times, he acted like an adult, but at times like this, one could tell how much of a child he was. All of a sudden, I wanted to tease him.
“You know about Gloria sunbae, right? We were hanging out some time ago, and we talked about you.”
I grinned as I continued.
“She also said you are handsome.”
“Is that so?”
His reaction was surprisingly lukewarm. I’d thought he would go around, showing off with his nose up in the air. Wondering why, I asked.
“What, you are not happy that someone so pretty complimented you?”
Arkhan pondered for a moment before tossing a random question at me.
