I Became The Childhood Friend of the Obsessive Second Male Lead - Chapter 368
The problem arose afterward. Not understanding each other’s language, they couldn’t delve into the purpose of their arrival in this country or the reason for helping Knox.
“Uh, um…”
Unsure of what to say, Knox scratched his head, but the two men asked a question first.
Very cautiously.
“…Rieta?”
Princess Rieta’s name.
“…Rieta?”
Knox repeated the name, wondering if he heard correctly.
The two nodded their heads.
“Rieta.”
Knox’s expression brightened as he heard the Princess’s name again. It seemed they had come to find her.
Knox took out a map and pointed to the border between Mechidia and Euplana.
“Rieta.”
He called the Princess’ name again, indicating that she was here. However, Hugh and Everett seemed to not quite understand.
Knox didn’t give up on explaining. He called over a nearby soldier and gently placed his arms around him.
Though the soldier looked horrified at the sudden embrace, he couldn’t bring himself to push Knox away. After a dramatic display of a ring exchange, Knox turned back to the two men.
“Rieta.”
It meant that Rieta was going to the border to get married.
The two men chattered among themselves and soon pointed to a part of the map.
It was the castle where King Riz resided. Simultaneously, they exclaimed.
“Rieta!”
Knox, noticing their persistence, pointed to the border once again.
“Rieta.”
The men shook their heads, still pointing towards the castle.
“Rieta.”
“No, she left a long time ago!”
Knox shouted in frustration at the futile conversation.
“——, ———————!”
The man called ‘Everet Hewitt’ also burst out without restraint, as if he shared Knox’s anger.
They still couldn’t understand his words.
“Rieta!”
They spent the entire night shouting ‘Rieta’ countless times.
As the day broke, Knox decided to select individuals with mobility as a scouting team.
He returned the horses that were confiscated to Hugh Mclean and Everet Hewitt.
“. . . Rieta]”
They muttered in a low voice. Sensing their gratitude, Knox replied.
“Ri… eta.”
They immediately mounted their horses and started running in the same direction.
Meanwhile, Moody, whose position had plummeted to the ground in an instant due to the men from the Empire, also ended up riding a horse and moving with them.
Knox didn’t want to travel with him, but leaving him behind with the soldiers felt even more uncomfortable, so he had no choice. Therefore, he occasionally warned Moody, brandishing his sword behind him.
“If you do anything unnecessary, I’ll kill you on the spot.”
Despite grumbling in dissatisfaction, Moody obediently heeded Knox’s words. Thanks to that, Knox was able to get closer to their destination relatively comfortably.
Communication between the two men from the empire and Knox was gradually becoming smoother.
If there was a problem…
“Rieta? (Have you filled the canteen?)”
“Rieta. (No.)”
“Ri, Rieta. (Hurry up, we will be watching that person.)”
… Their conversation was progressing solely on the mention of Rieta’s name? Although Rieta herself wasn’t listening, and they were understanding each other’s meanings, it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.
However, when the group took a brief rest in the complex mountains, Moody felt he was threatened and rode away on his own.
“We’ll see! Let’s see who the King will execute!”
He yelled as he rode like crazy.
“That rotten brat!”
Knox mounted his horse and followed him. Soon, Everet and Hugh quickly caught up, pointing out the mountain path and shouting.
“Rieta!”
It seemed to indicate that they should divide the area to chase after him, like during a hunt.
“Rieta!”
Knox nodded, then turned his horse’s head in a different direction. After a chase involving the three men, Moody eventually found himself unable to go any further due to the river.
Despite attempting to urge the horse across the strong current multiple times, he now sat there in frustration, seemingly resigned to his fate.
He won’t be able to run away anymore.
Knox grinend and shouted at him.
“You rotten brat! Give up now!” …or at least, that was what he intended to say.
“Rieta!”
Unconsciously, he shouted in a booming voice, as if it had become a habit to converse solely using that word.
He realized his mistake and lightly tapped his forehead.
He attempted to translate it back to standard Kingdom language.
“Yes?”
Surprisingly, on the other side of the river, a response to the earlier shout came back.
It was none other than the voice of Princess Rieta.
“…?”
Knox looked across the river with disbelief, questioning his own ears. Several soldiers were emerging from the trees, and in their midst stood Rieta.
Knox, along with Hugh and Everet, exchanged surprised glances and shouted once again, the same words they had repeated so many times before.
“Rieta!”
***
Sir Knox and his party carefully crossed the river, finding a shallow spot where the water wasn’t too deep.
Rieta wanted to hug all the people she hadn’t seen in a long time, but for now, she guided them towards a safe place.
They were all soaked from crossing the river, and she was worried about them catching a cold in their current state.
While they dried their bodies and clothes, they shared their experiences of what had happened so far, each speaking in their own language.
