I Became the Villain's Pendant - Chapter 39
Black Ice Scales (4)
Ji Yan finally fell silent and the world around him finally became tranquil.
Yin Xuezhuo was very pleased by the tranquil atmosphere. He kept his figure hidden while he sat alone on the roof until nightfall. Ji Yan was no longer chattering or singing, instead, she was grinding her teeth now.
Yin Xuezhuo reappeared in front of Ji Yan’s bed and carefully examined her to make sure she was actually asleep. Ji Yan was asleep and was cheerfully grinding her teeth in her sleep. Even the expression on her face was a little strange.
Yin Xuezhuo lifted his hand and pushed her awake.
Ji Yan woke up once again, but this time, she was psychologically prepared when she saw Yin Xuezhuo’s face up close. She was not frightened like she was the first time he woke her up. Ji Yan sat up and pulled her blanket closer to her as she stared silently at him. She was puzzled as to why he had woken her up again.
Did she call out his name again? But she didn’t dream of him this time.
Yin Xuezhuo suddenly asked, “Are you hungry?”
Ji Yan, “?”
She was not hungry.
Yin Xuezhuo said, “Then why were you grinding your teeth in your sleep?”
Ji Yan, “…” I grind my teeth while sleeping? That didn’t seem right. She had all kinds of roommates through her three-year stay in the college dormitory. She met all kinds of roommates; there were ones who snored and ones who grind their teeth while sleeping. However, none of her roommates ever complain to her that she grinds her teeth while sleeping.
Ji Yan raised one of her fingers and pointed to her mouth.
Yin Xuezhuo raised his finger slightly, indicating that Ji Yan could speak now.
Ji Yan did her best to explain it scientifically, “There are many reasons that might have caused me to grind my teeth while sleeping. For example, it can be caused by uneven teeth, prolonged stress, and anxiety, excessive mood swings, or even some physical disease. Of course, genetic factors can also cause people to grind their teeth.”
Yin Xuezhuo looked at her lightly.
He didn’t understand any of the words that came out of her mouth.
In the end, he came to one conclusion——humans were extremely troublesome creatures.
Yin Xuezhuo lifted one of his hands and was about to mute Ji Yan’s voice again. When Ji Yan saw that she was about to lose her voice, her body moved before her mind could think; she leaned forward and pushed down Yin Xuezhuo’s finger.
Her delicate white fingers had touched his sinister-looking hand and had accidentally glided across his cold sharp nails.
Yin Xuezhuo never expected her to have the courage or audacity to touch him. He looked down at her with his ice-cold eyes that were filled with murderous intent.
This was not the first time he had wanted to kill her. Ji Yan summoned up the courage and said, “Wait! Wait a minute! I believe my voice is very useful.”
Yin Xuezhuo sneered and asked, “How is it useful?”
Ji Yan’s eyes roamed around the room as her mind raced to find a reason for him not to mute her voice.
She stared at the moonlight shining through the big hole in the roof that was created by Yin Xuezhuo earlier and she suddenly had an idea.
Ji Yan, “I will recite a poem to you.”
Yin Xuezhuo, “Huh?”
Ji Yan, “There was a pool of moonlight shining over my bed. At first glance, I thought it was a layer of frost. When I raised my head, I glanced at the moon hanging overhead. When I looked back down, I drowned in homesickness. Isn’t this poem amazing?”
Yin Xuezhuo looked at her like he was looking at someone unbelievably dumb. He shook his head and said, “Speak in human language.”
Ji Yan, “…”
But wasn’t she speaking in the human language?
