I Became the Villain's Pendant - Chapter 41
Ji Yan stood in front of the cannon and studied its design carefully.
She found the design of the cannon to be quite special. There were many small spiritual stones inlaid in the cannon; however, there were a few empty slots too. The small empty slots seemed to be used to hold spiritual stones too, but why didn’t they fill it up with spiritual stones? Ji Yan believed that this was a problem.
Where was the operating manual located? Was it possible to maneuver the cannon? Ji Yan was a college student with an engineering major in her previous life, so she became very serious when Shao Xin appointed her this job. What if the cannon exploded in place instead of flying at its target?
Ji Yan thoroughly pondered over her dilemma. She believed that the force and power of the cannon depended on the spiritual stones inserted inside. She took a few of the spiritual stones from the slots and rearranged the placements of the spiritual stones. The spiritual stones fit in the other slots perfectly and the new placement aligned together to make a common pattern. Ji Yan believed that her new placement of the spiritual stones was the correct method.
The new arrangements of the spiritual stones made much more sense to Ji Yan.
I’m pretty smart.
Ji Yan rubbed her hands, lit the cannon, and aimed the nozzle of the cannon at the flying devils in the sky. However, she hesitated just when she was about to fire at them.
Devil Lord Yin was still standing nearby, so it didn’t seem like a good idea for her to target his subordinates.
Ji Yan readjusted the cannon and aimed it at the goblins and beasts at the other side of the city wall.
The goblins and beasts were now her targets!
Launch!
The cannonball shot out from the cannon with a loud boom. The range of the cannon was considered to be very safe. She could’ve easily shot the cannonball at the beasts and goblins outside the city wall without any trouble. However, Ji Yan had rearranged the spiritual stones in the cannon, causing the cannon to be much weaker than it should be when launched. As a result, the cannonball formed a small arc in the sky before it quickly fell.
And then——
Ji Yan watched as the cannonball caused a huge explosion, instantly blasted the city walls into shambles.
The ground vibrates violently, throwing the situation into chaos. Numerous people started screaming because of the unexpected attacks, even the goblins and monsters were dumbfounded for a moment by the sudden explosion. Once they broke out of their trance, the goblins and monster rushed for the city.
The situation was instantly reversed.
Some of the disciples were injured while others were buried under the collapsed city wall. The disciples struggled to deal with goblins and monsters that were suddenly charging toward the city. One of the disciples suddenly spoke up and pointed in the direction from where the cannonball was launched, screaming, “There is a traitor!”
Huh? A traitor? Where is the traitor? Who is the traitor?
Ji Yan stood next to the cannon with a blank expression on her face. Before she could finally process everything, she saw a group of disciples charging at her with swords.
I’m THE traitor?
No! She was trying to help them!
“Hahahahahahaha!” Yin Xuezhuo burst out in laughter as he watched the scene unfold. He was laughing so hard that he had to support himself using a tree.
Ji Yan, “…”
Go ahead and laugh! I hope you die from laughing too much.
Yin Xuezhuo laughed so hard that he could barely breathe. When he noticed that the disciples advancing on them were getting closer, he picked up Ji Yan with his arms and flew away, disappearing right in front of their eyes. The disciples glanced at each other in confusion.
Yin Xuezhuo didn’t fly too far away from their original spot; they stopped at an empty alley. He continued laughing while supporting himself using the wall as soon as they landed.
Ji Yan silently watched him laugh.
However, his train of thought was more cruel than friendly. How could someone be so stupid? How could a human blast their own comrades’ wall? Ji Yan caused more trouble than she could help.
He was having a blast.
But the smile on his face soon faded as if he had suddenly thought of something. His expression suddenly turned serious when he turned to face Ji Yan.
Although she had caused chaos for the people of the righteous sects, more often than not, she caused more trouble for him…
“Are you sent to my side by the righteous sects?” The more Yin Xuezhuo considered that possibility, the more it made sense, “They believed that you cause more trouble than you’re worth, so they sent you to stay by my side to cause trouble for me, am I correct? The reason why I can’t leave within ten steps of you is that I’ve fallen into their trap!”
The people from the righteous sects must’ve changed their strategy. Instead of sending someone with high cultivation to assassinate him, they chose to send someone worthless like Ji Yan, who could easily collapse the enemy from the inside.
Yin Xuezhuo’s eyes darkened, and his gaze was filled with killing intent when he stared at Ji Yan.
Ji Yan, “…”
Ji Yan stomped her feet angrily and said, “You are being too much!”
He was simply insulting her to the extreme!
