Semantic Error - Chapter 17.3
“That’s a threat, too.” Sang Woo grinned and opened his eyes. “If you hit me, I can just report it, but there’s nothing to be afraid of.”
Before Jae Young could say anything, he glared into his eyes and added, “Why are you doing this to me? Like I’m a sinner, like I’m a disappointment, what’s wrong with me?”
He wasn’t guilty. In the end, here he goes again. Jae Young was sick of Sang Woo trying to solve everything with logic even though he was so drunk.
“You’re hurting me, making me angry… You’re going to abandon me!” Sang Woo screamed at the top of his lungs.
“You son of a bitch, says who?” countered Jae Young.
The eyes looking up at Jae Young were blazing with anger. He met his unfamiliar gaze with his mouth hung open.
“What do you mean, damn it? You’re the one who was stuck with someone else…”
“If you know nothing, just shut up! Nothing happened, you bastard!”
While Jae Young’s jaw dropped and he chose the right words to say, Sang Woo pushed him hard on the shoulder. This time, he pushed with all his might. After stumbling a few steps back, he looked ahead again, and Sang Woo, who’d become distant before he knew it, was glaring at him with his fist clenched tightly.
“I was going to try. But it didn’t work. What can I do?”
“What?”
“You little brat.”
“…”
“Anger control disorder! Human depravity!”
Sang Woo raised his eyes and screamed. It was Jae Young’s first time seeing him like that, and he felt absurdity rush into the gaps of hot unresolved anger. Sang Woo seemed to have gone crazy, spouting all the swear words he knew (but with poor repertoire). In the meantime, several cars whizzed by the highway. Jae Young reached out for fear he’d run to the road, but Sang Woo stepped back to avoid his touch.
“On the subject of being a playboy.”
“What?”
“You’re going to study abroad and have a lot of relationships, and now you’re making a fuss because I kissed someone else once.”
“And you think that makes sense?”
“Why doesn’t it make sense? You don’t have a place for me!”
Sang Woo was rather angry. It was supposed to be him who got stuck with another guy, but he was growling at Jae Young as if he had an affair. His eyes were full of sharp resentment. It was an emotion that wasn’t normal.
“What if hyung goes away?”
“…”
“I’m doomed because of you, how can you make up for that, you punk?!”
“Be quiet. I’m not in the mood to hear such a thing.”
Jae Young matched his fury, but his fists were loose. Even though he knew that Sang Woo’s behavior was the same as being annoyed when his cereal ran out, his anger escaped through his fingertips.
“This is annoying… I’m sick and tired of it.”
Sang Woo tore his hair and sighed roughly. His eyes were stained with intoxication, blinked and looked painful and tired.
“It’s all ruined, damn it.”
After Sang Woo cursed and cursed, only gasping breaths filled the space for a while. Then he flopped down. For a long time, he leaned his back against the railing and stared at the black sky. He bowed his head and murmured softly.
“Where should I find someone similar to you hyung? Will there be anyone else like you?”
“…”
“As if it could turn that way. You’ll have a girlfriend anyway.”
A sigh escaped Jae Young’s mouth. The aggression and anger that had been seething inside had already lost their place to go. Even if he turned to disappointment and resentment, it was part of his desperate heart. The hot emotions that came back to him made Jae Young lose his mind. Even though he didn’t drink a drop of alcohol, he approached Sang Woo in a hazy mood as if he were drunk himself and went down.
“No.”
As he tried to hug his shoulder, Sang Woo violently kicked his stomach. Jae Young grabbed his ankle and tried to calm him down, but Sang Woo struggled more aggressively and escaped from his arms.
“No, I don’t like you.”
Jae Young sighed and stepped away from him and then sat far away. His head ached a lot.
‘Is dating this hard?’
He swept his face down a few times with his palm then left Sang Woo alone and stood up. He trudged into the car and sat in the driver’s seat. Looking at Sang Woo, he leaned back and smoked a few cigarettes.
Looking back, always gave room for Chu Sang Woo who he found impossible to give up. If he was out of breath and wanted to quit, just take a sip of water, and if he was about to collapse, just take a sip of water. Jae Young ran so far without exhaustion. Push and pull, which the other hadn’t intended at all, turned out to be too good for him. Taking another sip of water, Jae Young completely forgot his thirst.
He couldn’t be happy with a person who made him lose his reason. Jae Young was the type who took the lead in a relationship, and wasn’t used to being swayed like this. But on the other hand, his eyes rolled with jealousy, and trembling with anxiety gave him some certainty, even if it was ugly.
He started the car and drove slowly. When he narrowed the distance and turned on the headlights, Sang Woo, who was crouching, was exposed in the darkness. Jae Young looked at him in silence and lowered the right window.
“Hey.”
Sang Woo didn’t answer and only continued to crouch with his forehead on his knee.
“I’ll take you home, so get in.”
“…”
“What are you sitting there for? You have a class tomorrow.”
He seemed very angry, seeing that there was no response even after bringing up the class.
“Chu Sang Woo.”
Jae Young’s voice had become weak and soft before he knew it.
“Sang Woo.”
Jae Young didn’t know how to call his name in another way. At first, he called him disapprovingly, but those days were now completely forgotten. Sang Woo didn’t answer, so Jae Young had no choice but to get out of the car.
“Are you sleeping?”
Sang Woo had fallen asleep in a crouching position. No matter how many times he shook his shoulders, he didn’t budge. When they met, he was already drunk, and the time was already 4:30 AM. He must have run out of stamina after all the fuss.
“After infuriating the inside of others, you got yourself comfortable, huh?”
Jae Young murmured and sat down next to him. He felt helpless about how long it had been since he just watched Sang Woo. His sleeping side face was mean and disgusting, but he was adorable and Jae Young couldn’t bear it. Jae Young had been mortgaging his heart to Sang Woo for a while now. So, no matter how angry he got, he couldn’t entirely hate him anymore.
His hands stretched out to Sang Woo’s face. He slowly swept his cheeks with the back of his hand, thinking it was a homage to a certain day in the past. On the first day he entered his house, Jae Young lost his temper and got angry at Sang Woo. Even that day, Sang Woo was drunk and fell asleep first because of exhaustion.
He knew nothing would go wrong if he did it this way. His heart was so impatient and anxious that his eyes turned to jealousy and exploded. Jae Young has never played such a role before in any of his relationships. So, it was only natural to be clumsy and not good at it.
As he stared at him, Jae Young slightly pulled Sang Woo’s shoulder. He lost his balance and hugged him as if he’d waited for his body to fall into him. He sat for a long time hugging Sang Woo that way as if they never had a problem between them. He felt much better when he buried his nose in his slippery neck and patted his warm back.
“If this isn’t love then what is this?”
He carefully whispered controversial words into his ears.
“You can’t live without me, you fool.”
No answer returned, but Jae Young was satisfied. Anxiety and anger were now out of reach. His head, which had been buzzing with a thousand thoughts, cleared.
Obviously, he thought there’d be a lot of troublesome issues. It was so complicated, it looked like a tangled thread that was hard to unravel, so he put it off for his future self. At that moment, however, Jae Young realized that if his will was strong, nasty obstacles posed no threat.
It was simple logic. If he was attracted, proceed, but if otherwise, don’t. He didn’t have to deviate from the way he lived so far. Still, there was only one obstacle in their relationship. Standing in front of him, Jae Young measured, weighed, and hesitated several times. He was confident this time that he could overcome it. He didn’t need to rush, he just had to relax.
‘Do you want to go out with me or die?’
Suddenly, a famous melodrama line came to mind. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to wake up Sang Woo and ask him, but Jae Young decided to exercise his patience a bit more. He never had succeeded in the history of trying to force Sang Woo’s stubbornness to do anything.
Did he say that even if one took a horse to the water, he couldn’t make him drink water? It was like a saying made for Sang Woo. Meeting this unusual person, Jae Young was forced to learn how to wait and endure until the opponent was ready, and wouldn’t give up even if it hurt and didn’t go his way.
Jae Young stood up with Sang Woo in his arms, “Sang Woo, let’s go home.”
