Sixty-four Dragons (4)

It brought both a mixture of amusement and a pang of sadness to her heart. In the past, Little Mister Long’s horns could split hailstones into pieces, but now, even snowflakes could bully him.

Once she had finished clearing the toxins and regained mobility in her legs, Mu Wanwan quickly climbed to her feet. She brushed off the snowflakes that had landed on Mister Long’s head and the small piles of snow on his broken horns. Pushing the cold metal handles, she lifted Mister Long up the steps in front of the corridor with great effort, then freed one hand to push the door open.

Hmm? Why won’t it budge?

Mu Wanwan tried several times, even utilising her spiritual energy at the end, before finally managing to push open the tightly shut door. She underestimated her strength and nearly stumbled in the process.

The room hadn’t changed much since she left in the morning. As the door had remained shut, apart from a few things that were blown onto the floor, everything else was intact. Mu Wanwan’s heart warmed a little. It looked like Mister Long wasn’t that sort of brutal and destructive dragon, otherwise, he wouldn’t have ran to the courtyard in the first place.

Near the door, she spotted one of her slippers. Mu Wanwan looked at the two holes that were obviously punctured by Mister Long’s claws and paused for a moment.

Those were her only pair of slippers!

She had bought slippers for Mister Long this time, and now she decided to revoke his right to wear shoes.

Mu Wanwan sighed helplessly. She was about to pick up the slipper and bring Mister Long inside when she noticed a small feathery lump in the corner after bending down.

Mengmeng!

She momentarily put everything else aside and rushed over to the corner to get a clear view of the small bundle of feathers——

It was surrounded by scattered scales that had flown in, which had reduced his head feathers by half. The frail little body seemed to be trembling lightly, but it also seemed to be motionless.

Mu Wanwan was instantly sent into a panic. She cautiously reached out to touch the feathery chirp’s tiny body; it was warm.

Thank goodness.

She sagged with relief as she retrieved a Snow Condensed Pill and broke off a small piece, then stuffed it into Mengmeng’s mouth. Carefully, she picked it up and placed it in the nest on the table.

She waited for a moment, and suddenly, the Mengmeng’s skinny legs kicked lightly. Mu Wanwan heard a tiny cough.

Mu Wanwan’s eyes brightened, and she felt like crying. She watched as Mengmeng coughed out a bundle of black mist, then dazedly sat up. Its little black bean-like eyes stared at her for a few moments before it seemed to regain its senses. It reached out its little wings tremblingly and hugged her hand.

“Chirp…”

Mengmeng truly thought it was going to die, but it was now alive, although feeling a little unwell.

It nuzzled against the back of Mu Wanwan’s hand with its half-bald head, not minding at all that her hand was still stained with the blood of the bad dragon.

“Chirp chirp!” After nuzzling for a while, Mengmeng sat down on a small cushion sensibly.

Mu Wanwan took out a Spirit Returning Pill and placed it on Mengmeng’s little bed. She gently touched the top of Mengmeng’s head and said, “Good Mengmeng, you’re a very brave little chirp.”

She knew that Mengmeng must have been frightened by Mister Long. Its friends and family might have been killed by the dragon, so how could it not be afraid when facing the dragon as his curse broke out?

Mu Wanwan’s comforting words proved to be very effective. Mengmeng held the elixir in its wings, tears streaming down its big eyes and sticking to its feathers. But it was clearly happier, and seemed to have regained some vitality as it started pecking at the pill with its tender yellow beak.

Mu Wanwan’s heart melted. After confirming that Mengmeng was only frightened and had inhaled a small amount of toxic gas but suffered no major harm, she started thinking about how to deal with the dragon.

First, there was the problem of his tattered clothes.

Aside from the fact that it might be painful to tear off the fabric that was clinging tightly to his body, uncovering everything would expose him. He was no longer in his half-dragon form, and it would be awkward if she saw something she shouldn’t.

What if the dragon suddenly woke up? How was she going to explain herself?

Mu Wanwan looked at the dragon, then at the wretched courtyard behind him, and felt overwhelmed.

However, no matter what, she couldn’t just leave the dragon here. She had to do what needed to be done.

Without further hesitation, she walked to the bedside, and folded the quilt to reveal half of the warm jade bed. After some thought, she decided she couldn’t bear to let the dragon lie directly on the jade bed. She resignedly took out the spare mattress she had bought in the past from the cupboard and laid it out, then pushed the dragon to the bed.

“Mister Long, I’m going to carry you onto the bed.”

Perhaps because he was still unconscious, Mu Wanwan was more familiar with him in this state. She avoided his wounds and moved the dragon onto the bed, allowing his limbs to stretch out. Then, she grabbed the cotton quilt that had been dirtied by him and washed many times by her and covered him with it.
