Is the Friend of a Friend a Stranger? - Chapter 41.2
Truth be told, Sylvia didn’t dislike Owen either.
As he said, there was definitely a desire to fly to a light country where there weren’t any urges or weight. However, the problem was that she was not sure if she would be able to return to her original place after being swept away by such a place.
Owen would surely be able to return. Just as he had told her to use him and that he would leave on his own even if she didn’t take care of him. But what would happen to her once Owen disappeared like that?
She would surely continue to stumble after that. She felt like she would float and sink, like a feather that had fallen off someone’s body, and repeat it forever.
So, for her own sake, Sylvia refused the kind request given by Owen. She didn’t feel like she should feel sorry towards him. He didn’t give her his heart, he just gave a part of him to someone who seemed thirsty to use if necessary. If that person was really thirsty, they would have accepted it, and if not, they had the right to refuse.
“Yeah. This is the right thing to do.”
She believed that her choice was mature, and a decision made for her sake.
However, the problem came from the fact that the relationship between Owen and Sylvia wasn’t cut so neatly. Sylvia refused Owen’s request and naturally avoided him a little, but this time, even though they had only kissed each other, the mana sharing had gotten worse. Now, not only his emotions but also his vision was randomly shared with her.
When he was eating with other people and knocking on the table with one hand as if he was bored. His red wounds when he was changing the bandages, his exposed belly, and his body. His voice as she laughed softly.
At first, she thought she was dreaming because she cared so much about him. But soon enough, in places where both of them were present, she could not help admitting that the things she saw through his vision were the same she was seeing.
They were engulfed in an even bigger problem.
In the end, Sylvia had no choice but to break her will to stay away from Owen and go directly to him.
Instead of eating, Owen saw Sylvia, who was hiding on one side of a pillar and gesturing enthusiastically at him, and approached her with a smile as if he had good intentions.
“What is it?”
“‘What is it’?”
Sylvia was bewildered by his seemingly calm attitude. What is it? Was he not seeing her life? Sylvia spent most of her time lying in bed because she was worried about showing it to him.
“Are you alright?”
“How can I be alright? I was dumped after confessing my feelings.”
“Feelings? When did you do such an embarrassing… No, I’m not talking about that.”
“Then?”
He blinked innocently, as if he really didn’t know, and Sylvia fell into confusion. She had not yet realized how playful Owen was being. Owen crossed his arms and leaned his shoulders against the pillar she had been hiding behind.
“But I’m just asking out of curiosity, why are you washing yourself while wearing a blindfold? Do you perhaps enjoy that sort of thing?”
Owen whispered. Sylvia looked up in surprise at those sneaky words.
“As expected, it was visible to you as well!”
As if he had never pretended not to know, he calmly shrugged his shoulders as if it was something natural. Sylvia blushed and pushed him away. Of course, his body didn’t move at all, so it was like she was stroking his arm affectionately.
“Then why are you acting like it’s nothing?”
“Well, it won’t last forever. It will all disappear with time anyway.”
“But the problem is until then. There is nothing like privacy.”
“Well, both you and I don’t really have that kind of thing, so isn’t it alright not to care?”
Now, it seemed that he had decided to be as generous as a god in all things. He was the one who had more secrets than anyone else and was acting as if he was ignorant. She bluntly added,
“What are you talking about? I have a private life, too.”
“You don’t have any friends or a lover.”
“I do have.”
“Who else but Heston do you have?”
“I have Rosaline…”
“She’s Heston’s sister, isn’t she?”
He answered, cutting her off without hesitation. Sylvia gasped, speechless. But it wasn’t like she recalled any other name, so she changed the topic.
“I have family problems too. In any case, I can’t do it. We should discuss countermeasures.”
“Family problems?”
“Don’t you have some too? About Count Bronowitz, you didn’t tell me either back then. Why didn’t you tell me earlier if you could have gotten out of there like that? If you did, I wouldn’t have taken the risk to go there.”
