Married To A Savage Duke - Chapter 80.1
When Cherryl finally made up her mind, she pointed to the cuff links she first noticed.
“Could you calculate this for me?”
The employee responded with a polite smile, “You are a wise customer, making a quick purchase decision! Our gift-wrapping specialist will swiftly and perfectly wrap the new product brought from our shop. Come this way, and I’ll assist you with the payment. By any chance, are you already a member of the Havi Birdson? We have prepared a warm and sweet beverage for you.”
“I’m not, but I’ll pass on the drink. I’m in a hurry, and I need to leave soon.”
“I see. Then while we prepare the gift wrapping, would you like to take a look at our new wristwatch, the ‘Royal Timepiece’? It is a new watch created in collaboration with the Empire’s finest watchmaker, Reviselle. It boasts the exquisite craftsmanship of Havi Birdson, making it an excellent gift even for the most discerning gentleman.”
Was he still listening to her? Cherryl blinked and quickly took out a credit note from her purse.
“Please calculate the total. Can I pay with this credit note?”
“Of course, ma’am! All customers visiting Havi Birdson can pay with a credit note.”
“Great, here it is.”
“Got the credit note. Thank you.”
The employee accepted the credit note with a bright smile. Cherryl sneakily glanced at the air with a tired expression. If she kept listening to the employee’s skilled persuasion, she might lose her mind. With the urgency to leave the store, she couldn’t focus. If she stayed any longer, her plans to surprise Cade might be ruined. Then, as the employee looked at the credit note, her expression gradually stiffened, losing her smile. At the center of the square credit note handed by Cherryl, the Blakanov family’s emblem, a wolf pattern in brilliant gold, was engraved, shining brightly. The employee alternated her gaze between the emblem and Cherryl’s face, and she stood up straighter.
“May I respectfully inquire if you are, by any chance, the Lady of the Blkanov Duchy?” The employee’s expression suddenly became solemn, as if facing the Emperor.
“Are you perhaps the wife of Duke Blkanov?”
Feeling that the conversation might become quite lengthy when she just wanted to pay and leave quickly, Cherryl maintained her smile and responded, “Yes. Hello.”
The employee slightly bent their knees in a courteous gesture, “Please forgive my ignorance. I failed to greet you properly, which was a breach of etiquette.”
“There was no breach, so don’t worry about it. Is the wrapping finished?”
“It just got completed. I apologize for making you wait.”
As the employee made a hurried gesture, the person in charge of the wrapping came running with the item. The gift was carefully wrapped in luxurious packaging. Cherryl was delighted with the elegant, smooth, black paper tied with a golden ribbon. The employee maintained a solemn attitude and bowed respectfully, “It is an honor to meet you, Duchess. To show our respect to the long-standing Havi Birdson and the family of Blkanov, we would like to offer this gift as a complimentary present. Would you accept it?”
Surprised by the unexpected kindness, Cherryl’s eyes widened, “There’s no need for that.”
“Not only that, if there’s any item in the store that you like, you may take it without paying. If you give me some time, I can guide you to our exclusive room, where only the most distinguished guests are served, and help you select the finest products that suit the Blkanov’s tastes.”
“It’s alright. My husband is waiting for me, and he said it’s urgent, so I need to go back quickly.”
The employee was taken aback, covering their mouth in surprise, “Oh my. His Grace is near our Havi Birdson store! Madam, wouldn’t you kindly bestow upon us the honor of giving this purchase today as a complimentary gift?”
Declining the employee’s kindness further would be impolite. Besides, this talkative employee would keep nagging until Cherryl accepted something. Not minding the free offer, Cherryl nodded her head.
“Then, I won’t refuse and accept your kind offer. Thank you so much for your generosity.”
“We are truly grateful for the opportunity to welcome the Duchess and present a small gift as a token of our appreciation.” As the employee responded with grandiloquent phrases and clapped once, all the staff inside the store rushed out and escorted Cherryl to the entrance. If she hadn’t hurried her steps, they would have brought out a red carpet and laid it down for her. The employees lined up, creating a pathway, and simultaneously bent their waists, demonstrating their impeccable etiquette.
“His Grace and the Lady are eagerly looking forward to your future visit to Havi Birdson Carlsvik Main Branch.”
“Yes. Thank you.”
Cherryl left the store with a feeling that her soul had been taken instead of money. She wanted to return to her bedroom immediately and rest. It had been a long day. The winter festival would be a joyful memory for a long time, and spending time with Cade alone would be a delightful and exciting memory to reminisce about. But now, all she wanted was to sink into the soft bed, feeling drained of energy.
