The living room was filled with silence and Qin Xiang stood at one side with a nervous expression. The atmosphere was very gloomy.

As soon as she saw her son enter the room, Fang Weilan humphed in dissatisfaction and immediately launched into an interrogation. “I heard you are planning to invest in Lin Jingfei’s movie?”

Qin Jue sat down across from her expressionlessly and nodded. He explained, “Liang Xiao’s movies are not bad. Grandfather will also like it.”

Seeing that he was using Grandfather as an excuse, Fang Weilan gave him a disapproving look and lowered her voice before saying, “Qin Jue, don’t you dare consider marrying Lin Jingfei. I definitely will not let her walk through the Qin family doors!”

Qin Jue paused and recalled the piercing words that Ruan Zhiyin had said during the day. His face was expressionless as he removed his necktie. His words became gloomier by a few degrees. “Mother, relax. I will not marry Jingfei.”

“No?” Fang Weilan laughed and continued to ask. “Then why were you absent from the wedding? It allowed Ruan Zhiyin to give the Qin family a big slap in the face.”

Fang Weilan placed a lot of importance on face, and her own son had caused the Qin family to lose a lot of face.

Qin Jue had always been outstanding even as a child and she did not have to worry much. However, after graduating from high school, their mother and son relationship had gotten tenser and tenser.

She was truly a pure-bred noble lady, and she placed a lot of importance on the family background of her daughter-in-law. She definitely would not allow an upstart family like the Lin family to become part of her family.

She was still quite satisfied with Ruan Zhiyin, but she could not stand Lin Jingfei at all. However, her own son would always rebel against her for that woman.

“Your wings are hard now and I can’t control you anymore. But I will never recognize Lin Jingfei as my daughter-in-law!”

Fang Weilan finished speaking her words and put down the cup in her hand before turning to go upstairs.

Qin Xiang saw her mother leave before heading over. She grumbled in dissatisfaction. “Brother, what are you thinking? Because you skipped out on the wedding, I don’t even dare to contact Sister Ruan.”

Even though she did not want Mother Qin and Qin Jue’s relationship to be too stiff, she also did not want Lin Jingfei to marry Qin Jue. After all, she and Lin Jingfei didn’t get along even as kids.

That woman would always use all sorts of underhanded tricks to make her appear to know nothing, and would always pretend to be obedient in front of her brother. But she was not as smart as Lin Jingfei and only hating her was useless.

Qin Jue sighed and frowned. “I didn’t want to run away from the marriage. The company had an issue, and it affected Jingfei. I thought I would be able to rush back, and I thought it would be okay to delay the wedding by a day.”

“So, who do you actually like? Don’t tell me you fell for Lin Jingfei again. I don’t want her to be my sister-in-law!”

“Of course it’s Zhiyin.” Qin Jue leaned against the sofa in exhaustion and rubbed his temples. “Why do you guys all think I want to marry Jingfei?”

The words Ruan Zhiyin had said during the day had affected him a lot. It was like a knife to his heart. He had to use all his strength to not lose his temper in front of everyone.

“Ever since we were young, you always treated her better than me!”

Qin Xiang had always felt that Lin Jingfei was the one who seemed to be Qin Jue’s real little sister. Her big brother’s love was always split into two and the bigger side was always given to Lin Jingfei.

Qin Jue stood up and looked at her and calmly said, “Did you forget when we were young? You are both my younger sisters. Do I not treat you well enough?”

When they were young, he and Qin Xiang had lived in the Ruan’s house for two years. Grandmother Ruan had taken great care of the two of them. When she had passed away, she had entrusted Qin Jue with taking care of Lin Jingfei.

“But you dated her before! Would you date your little sister!” Thinking about this, Qin Xiang couldn’t help but mumble. “Even I know that the reason you went abroad that year was that you two had broken up! You, you love Lin Jingfei so much you can’t free yourself.”

When Qin Jue heard this, he paused for a long time. Then he calmly said, “There is a reason for that.”

Seeing his silence, Qin Xiang knew he would not elaborate on his reasons.

“Hmph, then even if there is a reason, you’ve made Sister Ruan so angry, she left.” Qin Xiang thought about all the troubles she’s had recently and smiled and deliberately added. “She has already married someone else. I’ll watch and see how you’ll fix this!”
