My Rental Boyfriend Is My Boss?! - Chapter 47 [END]
Chapter 47. Together
‘Oh, I give up already.’
No matter how unwilling Michiru was to react to him, she had no choice but to surrender when he smiled so brightly at her.
Michiru always thought she had nothing to do with it.
Michiru had always thought that romance novels and fatal encounters were out of her league, and that only a handful of winners could experience such glorious things in life.
It was the complete opposite of Michiru. So, it’s no wonder it didn’t happen to her. That’s what she told herself as she lived her life.
And yet…
The man who smiled in front of Michiru found her. He told her that it’s okay to change.
“Why don’t you ask him?”
Chie’s words passed through Michiru’s mind. When she heard them, she thought it was impossible. Michiru thought she couldn’t do it. But maybe it was only Michiru who thought so. It was like the Michiru of elementary school who turned herself into a commoner B.
“I… want to stop worrying alone, getting depressed, and giving up.”
In response to Michiru’s words, Kamijemori’s eyes widened a little and he quickly nodded.
“Yes.”
“I want to stop thinking that I can’t do it, or that it’s inevitable.’
“Yes.”
“But with Minoru, I feel like I can do it.”
“I see.”
“So… I’ve never been in a relationship before, so I may say some troublesome things, and I may make a lot of mistakes, but… will you accept the challenge with me?”
Michiru gave him a strong look as if challenging him.
Michiru could see a little anxiety in his eyes, but Kamijemori broke his face and opened his hands.
The next moment, Michiru was trapped in his chest. The smell of perfume, the warmth of his body and his strong arms made Michiru forget her embarrassment and feel relieved.
A gentle low voice whispered in her ear.
“I went to pick you up yesterday with that intention.”
Michiru glanced up at him. He caught her chin and dropped his lips. It began with a light touch, before the kiss became deeper and longer.
“… Mmph… Haa…”
Kamijemori’s long fingertips stroked her ears, while the other hand rubbed her back. Michiru didn’t know when to breathe in, and when their lips parted slightly, she gasped, and in between, he kissed her deeply again.
Michiru couldn’t help but feel tingly. Her head was foggy and she couldn’t think of anything.
‘Oh, what is… this… I don’t know what… this is…’
Afraid of the strong kiss, Michiru quickly squeezed Kamijemori’s shirt. Finally, Kamijemori pulled his lips away.
When his eyes met Michiru’s dazed eyes, Kamijemori laughed as if in trouble.
“Haha… Still a newbie, right?”
Her cheeks were cupped, their foreheads were pressed together, and she exhaled secretly.
“I’m sorry, that’s it for today, don’t be afraid.”
“This is it?”
“You’re not happy?”
“No, that’s not it.”
Michiru waved her hands in the air, and Kamijemori chuckled.
As Michiru was experiencing a strange feeling of disappointment and relief, Kamijemori’s hand softly left hers.
“When you’re in a better mood, how about dinner?”
“Yes, let’s go!”
It seemed that he had noticed from the beginning that Michiru was not in a peaceful mood.
It was only when he pointed it out to her that she started to feel hungry.
She hurriedly prepared herself and was on her way to the entrance, following Kamijemori’s example, when she realized.
“”Oh, I’m sorry, I’ve lost track of time and I’ll give you back the stuffed animal of Marie that I brought back from…”
As Michiru tried to turn back indoors, Kamijemori grabbed her arm.
“It’s not a problem.”
“What? It’s an important thing.”
When Kamijemori was drunk, he was talking about the relationship between the two pairs of animals until morning. They must have been important to Kamijemori as a child as they showed him a different path.
As Michiru wondered, Kamijemori narrowed his eyes mischievously.
“So, you can have one of them. You’re new to love, aren’t you? It’s called ‘couple items’.”
“Oh…!”
Michiru’s ears instantly perked up. She thought to herself that she was a disappointingly simple woman, but then she excused herself to anyone who would listen, saying that Kamijemori, who smiled like a misbehaving child, was precious and that it was no wonder that she had a crush on him.
As a beginner in love, Michiru will probably be pushed around by Kamijemori for a while yet. But she didn’t mind that at all. If this was what they call the weakness of being in love, then this was probably something she’d have to deal with.
‘Oh, we’re matching…’
Michiru gently returned her to the bedside where she used to be. It’s strange that the female squirrel, who looked unsure of where she was when she first came home, now seems to be winking at Michiru. She was sure Marie was pleased to know that one of her pieces was being cared for in the Kamijemori home.
“If you stay like that forever, I’ll leave you behind.”
The next thing she knew, he was already putting on his shoes and heading out the door. Michiru hurried after him.
“Oh, wait!”
When she opened the door, the smell of summer hit her nose. In a world tinged with orange, the man who had left before her turned around, squinted gently, and offered his hand.
Michiru grasped his hand and called out the name of the person she loved most in the world.
The End.
