Shen Weiwei grinned from ear to ear. Looking exhausted, she lazily leaned back and looked at the empty field outside of the window. The smile on her face gradually faded.

It was five in the afternoon when Lu Lixing landed. He headed straight to the company and entered the conference room. The meeting went on for three whole hours before it ended.

This time the mistake was linked to a potential project that was of greatest value and importance to both him and the company. And it would be in this future direction that the company will expand towards. However, recently, one of the crucial Research & Development technologies got involved in a copyright dispute causing the company’s largest shareholders to exert pressure hoping that the company would forfeit this investment direction. And this prevented further developments of the project, which was why they asked Lu Lixing to come back from the filming studio to take charge of the overall situation.

It was already 9 pm when he left the company. Lu Lixing was exhausted from the day’s work as he returned back to Lu’s family home. Upon entering the door, he could hear the sound of a puppy barking.

Aunt Pei was playing with Si Si in the living room. Seeing Lu Lixing enter the house, she quickly got up. “Young master, you’re back. I’ll go heat up supper.”

Lu Lixing stopped her. “Don’t trouble yourself, Aunt Pei. I’m not hungry. I’m just a bit tired and want to have an early rest.”

“Then do have an early rest.”

Lu Lixing nodded and glanced at Si Si momentarily before heading upstairs.

After a warm bath, Lu Lixing went up to his bed feeling fatigued. In the room, the lighting was dim. He subconsciously turned his body around to the other side and placed his hand beside him, only for him to hug the thin air.

Lu Lixing instantly awakened from his foggy state of mind. He looked at the empty bedside and stared at it for a long while.

Tonight seemed to be the first night in a long time in which he didn’t sleep together with Ji Qingqing.

As he thought about that, Lu Lixing suddenly realized that he was asking for trouble. When sleeping together, Ji Qingqing either wrapped around him with both of her arms and legs or pushed him to the edge of the bed. She never slept still and he often woke up with his body feeling sore. Even so, he still thought of Ji Qingqing?

Lu Lixing sighed and shut his eyes, forcing himself to sleep.

However, after half an hour, Lu Lixing opened his eyelids. There were no signs of sleepiness in his eyes. He got up thinking that his heavy workload gave him immense pressure, resulting in his insomnia. But when he opened his computer to read the emails in his inbox, ten minutes had passed and not a single one was read.

After deliberating for a while, he took out his phone and made a video call to Ji Qingqing.

Half an hour before Ji Qingqing’s phone rang, she was tossing and turning in her bed, unable to fall asleep. Not even wrapping her arms and legs around a bolster helped.

She sat up angrily, feeling oddly annoyed from not being able to fall asleep.

Why can’t she fall asleep?

She would usually fall asleep within five minutes but an hour passed and she still couldn’t fall asleep.

Isn’t it just Lu Lixing not being here?

After tossing and turning, Ji Qingqing still failed to fall asleep. She lifted her blanket and got out. Pouring herself a cup of water, she flipped through two pages of the script. Those words that she had memorized in the back of her head, for some reason today, became hard to understand. Afterwards, she went to the window and looked at the moonlight for a while, but she still couldn’t feel a single hint of sleepiness. Eventually, she dragged her feet back and went up the bed again.

She looked at the time on her phone and unlocked it. With no particular reason, she swiped to her list of contacts, and her gaze fixated on the number that was labeled “Mr. Lu.”

At this time, Lu Lixing should be probably asleep, and she could bet that he was sleeping very well.

Ji Qingqing couldn’t help but groan. The entire world was sleeping, and this was her not being able to fall asleep. As she thought about this, she felt sad and miserable.

Her phone started vibrating intensely and a video call notification from “Mr. Lu” appeared on the screen.

Ji Qingqing’s heart jumped. Her hands moved faster than her thoughts, and she instinctively pressed the button down on her screen to accept the call.

Lu Lixing’s face appeared on the screen.
