Ruan Qingmu suddenly slumped on the back seat of the taxi, unceremoniously laying on Qin Yuan’s lap and covering his face. “Damn, I’ve been fooled. A guy downstairs from the Criminology Academy sold a whitening face pack to me for 10 yuan, saying it could return white in a night. It’s fake.”

As he thought about it, the angrier he got. “What a criminology major? I think he’s scamming you!”

Qin Yuan smiled at the corners of his mouth and tried to pull his hand away from his face. When he looked at his arm, he couldn’t laugh anymore.

It was dark and red, with signs of skin molting in a few places.

“I never realized you get so easily sunburned before,” he whispered in distress.

“I’ve never been exposed to the sun like this before!” Ruan Qingmu sighed. “I would lie under the tree shade during PE. If it was not for you, I would be even too lazy to come out and play ball.”

Qin Yuan smiled faintly. “Not playing ball. Only hitting people.”

The two men were quiet for a moment. Coincidentally, both remembered the images from the past. It had been more than two years ago, but it was as clear as it was yesterday.

Ruan Qingmu’s finger quietly poked at Qin Yuan’s thigh. “I still remember your appearance when you took a ball and smashed it in Liu Jun’s head, that big fool. So fierce.”

“Of course, he hit my boyfriend.”

“I wasn’t your boyfriend at the time,” Ruan Qingmu muttered in a low voice.

“You will always be.” Qin Yuan said softly, “At that time, it was a boyfriend without a status. Later on, it was a legitimate one.”

Ruan Qingmu raised his eyes and looked at him with black shining eyes, the corners of his lips curling.

Qin Yuan looked down at him, but his heart was still hurting, and he asked again. “Didn’t I buy a high-SPF sunscreen for you? Was it not useful?”

Ruan Qingmu grunted. “Who would use that thing? I’m not used to it and forgot to take it out. Don’t worry. My mom said I was like this when I was little and would get dark after being sunburned. After covering up for a few days, I will return to being white again like a snake shedding its skin.”

As he said that, he suddenly looked at Qin Yuan with wide eyes, slightly suspicious. “Do you feel that I’m ugly? Just say it if you think so. Don’t hold back and fall ill from it.”

Qin Yuan gazed at him and gently traced his finger over his brow. “Super handsome. A different sort.”

Ruan Qingmu stared at him and finally smiled, his peach blossom eyes forming crescents as he raised his eyebrows triumphantly. “Of course. If not, I don’t deserve the school grass from the finance major.”

“How did you know I’m the school grass? Did you still secretly look at our school’s forum like before?”

“It’s a must. My boyfriend is a little overly handsome. I have to keep an eye out for tell-tale signs, look for signs of crime and prevent motives for cheating from happening. Oh–” Qin Yuan’s finger covered Ruan Qingmu’s mouth and no more sound could come out.

Qin Yuan faintly looked down into his wide, dark eyes. “I only commit crimes against you.”

The taxi stopped in front of a neighborhood, only ten minutes away from the school. It was not new but extremely green and quiet in this metropolis where every inch of land was precious.

Qin Yuan took Ruan Qingmu down and gave him a door card. “When you come here alone in the future, you can use it.”

Walking in, the community was filled with old six-story buildings. Qin Yuan led him to one of them and went up the stairs. “This is the family building for the family members of the nearby universities and colleges. Without 20 years of teaching experience, they aren’t allowed to transfer ownership. It’s difficult to buy the property right, so we can only rent it.”

The house he rented was on the fourth floor, with no lift, but below it were the exquisite and beautiful flower beds in the neighborhood, with an excellent view in sight.

The furniture and soft furnishings had just been changed. Ruan Qingmu walked in, put down the small bag he was carrying, and walked toward the balcony. “It seems that the scenery outside isn’t bad?”

Before he could finish his words, his body was tightly hugged from behind.

Someone who had been gentle and quiet on the way pulled his body over, vigorously drew the curtains with one hand, blocking out the twilight and the first lights, and then kissed him roughly and urgently.

Ruan Qingmu grunted and stumbled a step, his body forced against the white wall behind him.

The kiss between their lips did not feel like they had waited a month, but they had been apart for a lifetime.

It was hot and intense like they would die of hunger and thirst if they couldn’t get any more like a dying patient who was getting life-saving oxygen with each extended second of the kiss.

Qin Yuan’s one hand pinned Ruan Qingmu’s strong, thin waist while his other hand held his face in place. His passionate kisses rolled over Ruan Qingmu’s lips, all the way to his chin, and then to Adam’s apple before he suddenly gave a gentle bite.

Ruan Qingmu’s body shuddered violently and he grabbed his shoulders with both hands, gripping them hard as his voice changed. “Fuck. Do-Don’t be like this…”

Qin Yuan’s eyes were slightly red at the corners and he gasped faintly, with his teeth nibbling at the nape of his neck as they tightened slightly. “Don’t what?”

Ruan Qingmu’s legs trembled a little and he gritted his teeth. “Don’t. Don’t do it now… it’s not dark yet.”

Qin Yuan did not answer, and his breathing became heavier as the kisses became more intense, continuing down his long neck and landing on the edge of his slender collarbone.

He stretched out his hand, lightly covering Ruan Qingmu’s eyelids with his long fingers, gentle yet strong. “Close your eyes and it’ll be dark…”
