The Actor and His Three and Half Years Old Sister - Chapter 30.2
Lu Sumin immediately showed a displeased expression and waved her hand, “I’m not going to his place!”
Xiao Bi looked puzzled, “Didn’t you tell me that you were living well there before? You even said the southern region was more comfortable?”
Xiao Bi’s older brother’s house was located in a picturesque and pleasant city with a comfortable climate. Lu Sumin and Xiao Jitong had chosen to live there because of its cozy environment.
The winter in the capital was a bit desolate, with a barren landscape outside that the elderly didn’t quite like.
“Ugh, the humidity is so high there, how could it be comfortable at all?”
Lu Sumin’s expression showed dissatisfaction as she muttered, “It’s all because of your sister-in-law. She’s turned your brother into something, and I don’t like it at all…”
Xiao Bi slightly pursed her lips and immediately displayed a look of realization. She was well aware of her biological mother’s temperament; it was probably another clash with her sister-in-law.
Exercising patience, she advised, “Don’t you also intervene in my father’s affairs every day?”
Xiao Bi felt that her elder brother and his wife should live their own lives, and even though Lu Sumin was her mother-in-law, she should interfere less. While it was true that Lu Sumin cared deeply for her son, there also needed to be some restraint at times.
Considering this, Xiao Bi thought it would be good for her parents to return to Beijing; she guessed that both sides would be more at ease.
“I didn’t interfere with him, did I?”
Lu Sumin heard her daughter’s words and became unhappy. She turned to Xiao Jitong sharply, raising her voice, “Lao Xiao, do I interfere with you?”
Grandfather Xiao Jiyong bowed his head while making pastries, “No, no…”
With this, Lu Sumin launched into a new topic of conversation, “Xiaoyi will have to find a gentle and understanding young lady in the future. Even if you’re busy with work outside, she should be able to take care of the home. Finding a partner and getting married is still important…”
Lu Sumin felt dissatisfaction towards her daughter-in-law and immediately expressed her expectations to her grandson, as if seeing a bright future for him.
Chu Xiaoyi didn’t want to argue with his grandmother, so he muttered, “I still want to focus on my career…”
If his parents frequently said this to Chu Xiaoyi, he would explode in anger. But, Lu Sumin was his elder. Chu Xiaoyi couldn’t change the mindset of the older generation, nor could he directly confront them, leaving him feeling extremely frustrated.
Lu Sumin said, “Having someone take care of you at home after marriage will surely benefit your career!”
Chu Xiaoxiao looked at his overwhelmed older brother and strangely felt a sense of sadness, as if she couldn’t sit back and do nothing anymore.
Curiously, she asked, “Why would getting married improve your career?”
Lu Sumin’s face lit up with a smile, and she said warmly, “Because with someone helping your brother, Xiaoxiao will also have a sister-in-law!”
Chu Xiaoxiao tilted her head, pondered for a moment, and then earnestly said, “If getting married means having someone to help, why don’t people get married at birth? Why bother putting in so much useless effort upfront?”
Chu Xiaoxiao felt that her grandmother’s words about “marriage and childbirth” were like a magical remedy. Regardless of any difficulties in life, everything could be resolved with this remedy.
Even if her brother’s current situation was less than ideal, he could soar high with the help of marriage and childbirth, as if the value of his life was hinged on this. It’s as if he could only achieve true fulfillment by accomplishing this task.
Lu Sumin had originally just been teasing the youngster with a smile. She never expected her to suddenly take the topic seriously. She was momentarily at a loss for words, unsure how to explain.
Chu Xiaoxiao was still a child, and precisely because of her unfiltered words, it was even more challenging for adults to decipher her logic.
Everyone held their breath, surprised that Chu Xiaoxiao had launched an unexpected debate and was directly confronting her grandmother.
Seeing Lu Sumin’s silence, Chu Xiaoxiao continued solemnly, “I think Grandma is not correct. If we follow Grandma’s logic, then all the difficulties in the world could be solved through marriage. Clearly, this is impossible.”
Of course, Lu Sumin wouldn’t get angry with the young one. She said with some difficulty, “But if your brother has no one to take care of him in the future, how pitiable that would be…”
Chu Xiaoyi muttered under his breath, “I can take care of myself…”
Chu Xiaoxiao fell silent for a moment, then said seriously, “I will take care of him. He won’t be pitiable.”
Although she did think her brother was worthless, having him forced into marriage every day was a bit too much.
Lu Sumin was completely stumped by this response. She looked at her granddaughter’s straightforward expression and had no idea how to steer the conversation back.
Of course, she couldn’t ask Chu Xiaoxiao not to care about her brother; that would undoubtedly hurt the child’s feelings. Yet, she felt that these two matters seemed separate, and unfortunately, her granddaughter had intertwined them in the discussion.
In reality, Lu Sumin’s main mistake was not communicating with Chu Xiaoxiao in an adult manner, which allowed the young one to seize the initiative and skillfully counter her from the start.
Grandfather Jitong, seeing his wife’s silence, immediately applauded, “Our Xiaoxiao is really sensible! She knows to take care of her brother! Xiaoxiao is amazing!”
Xiao Jitong instantly assessed the situation, deeming it a praiseworthy action, and others couldn’t refute Chu Xiaoxiao any further.
Chu Xiaoyi never expected his younger sister to be so strong-willed, overpowering even their mother’s attempts to quiet their grandmother.
Yet, there she was, charging forward to pummel their grandmother, all while wearing an innocent and upright expression that made her seem incredibly sensible.
He felt a genuine sense of awe welling up inside, realizing that Chu Xiaoxiao was the hidden powerhouse in their family. In just a couple of moves, she managed to take down their grandmother.
