The Entertainment Industry Waits For Our Divorce - Chapter 125
63rd day — Divorce (Part 2)
In the evening, after Lu Lincheng finished showering, water droplets were still trickling from his hair. He dried his hair while wearing a bathrobe and emerged from the bathroom. Suddenly, he heard forceful knocking on the door of his hotel room.
Furrowing his brow, he asked, “Who is it?”
“It’s me,” came the commanding voice of a woman from outside the door.
Lu Lincheng opened the door.
Liang Yan was first greeted by the scent of shower gel, then she found herself face to face with a partially exposed chest.
“…………”
Liang Yan hadn’t anticipated such a provocative scene as soon as he opened the door. Her face flushed for a moment, and she quickly averted her gaze.
Lu Lincheng stepped aside, motioning for Liang Yan to come in, and inquired, “Is there something wrong?”
Liang Yan entered the room and forcefully placed the script for “The Enchanting Immortal” on the coffee table. She coldly snorted and refused to make eye contact. “Did you orchestrate those kissing scenes?”
Lu Lincheng glanced at the script on the coffee table and nodded, “Yes.”
“Lu Lincheng, what do you mean by this?” Liang Yan received a confirmation and grew infuriated, crossing her arms.
Lu Lincheng draped the towel he used to dry his hair over the sofa armrest and fell silent for a moment. “I’m sorry.”
Liang Yan nearly erupted, pacing impatiently while keeping her hands on her waist. “Go and tell the screenwriter to remove those scenes.”
Lu Lincheng responded, “Okay.”
Liang Yan: “???”
What was going on? Why was he so compliant?
Lu Lincheng observed Liang Yan, considering how she had been suspended in mid-air for the past few days until she felt nauseous, and how she struggled to maintain her balance after coming down. He inquired, “Are you still in pain? From being suspended in the air.”
“I…” Liang Yan choked on her words.
She had prepared herself for a heated argument with Lu Lincheng about refusing to delete the kissing scene. She even had pre-planned arguments, fearing that she wouldn’t win against him. But now, out of the blue, he brings up her wire stunt injury, specifically mentioning the embarrassing areas like the inner thigh and pelvis.
This plot development seemed off.
“It’s none of your business,” Liang Yan said with a displeased expression.
Lu Lincheng retrieved a box of ointment from the drawer and handed it to Liang Yan. “I actually wanted to give you this during the day. Take it.”
Liang Yan hesitated before accepting, examining the ointment’s package covered in English text.
Lu Lincheng extended his hand. “It’s for promoting blood circulation and reducing bruising. I’ve experienced discomfort from wire stunts in previous film shoots. Applying this can provide some relief.”
“Oh,” Liang Yan pondered for a moment and eventually took the box.
Liang Yan inexplicably found herself carrying the box of ointment back to her room.
After showering, she slipped into bed, blushing as she discreetly applied a small amount. The next morning, she felt significantly more comfortable.
The filming of “The Enchanting Immortal” proceeded smoothly from that point on.
Setting aside other aspects, Lu Lincheng displayed a professional attitude toward his work. He was one of those actors gifted with talent and dedication, approaching ancient puppetry with the same standards as a movie. Liang Yan noticed the difference compared to her previous collaboration on “Benevolence,” where she often nailed scenes in one take and even earned the nickname “Liang One Take.” However, this time, she and Lu Lincheng would film each scene at least two or three times. It wasn’t because their performances were lacking, but rather because Lu Lincheng, after reviewing the monitor playback, believed they could achieve an even better result. Additionally, he had a keen eye for detail, even when it came to something as simple as how the characters drank tea, considering their divergent backgrounds.
Liang Yan couldn’t help but admire Lu Lincheng’s work ethic.
The director himself jokingly remarked several times that Lu Lincheng had taken over his responsibilities and that he had reached the pinnacle of his acting career, predicting a future transition into directing.
“The Enchanting Immortal” had been in production for a while, and unfortunately, the production team had taken extensive measures to maintain secrecy. Apart from the official announcement of the lead actors, there hadn’t been any leaks. The public was left to wonder what kind of scenes awaited them with this reunion of the former husband and wife. Lu Lincheng had willingly taken a pay cut to participate in the ancient puppetry, and it was intriguing to ponder what kind of sparks would fly between him and his ex-wife.
The tighter the production team kept everything under wraps, the stronger the desire grew among outsiders to peek behind the scenes. And just when everyone’s curiosity reached its peak, sensational entertainment gossip rocked the industry.
“Liang Yan knocks on Lu Lincheng’s door at night, and Lu Lincheng successfully wins her back. Are the ex-couple getting back together?” screamed the headline.
Accompanying the headline was a blurry, covertly captured video.
In the video, Liang Yan was seen standing outside Lu Lincheng’s hotel room, knocking on the door. After a brief moment, the door swung open, revealing a glimpse of a man inside wearing nothing but a white bathrobe. The scene then shifted to Liang Yan exiting the room, holding something in her hand.
In the entertainment industry, news like this, especially involving a high-profile figure like Lu Lincheng, usually followed a familiar pattern. Entertainment reporters would often reach out to the parties involved beforehand, and most celebrities, to safeguard their image, would spare no expense to bury such stories. However, when news leaked without prior notice to the individuals involved, it was typically an attempt by the leaker to make a name for themselves within the industry.
The late-night door-knocking, Lu Lincheng’s appearance in a bathrobe, and Liang Yan leaving shortly after—all these elements naturally sparked various speculations and fueled the online frenzy.
