67th day — Divorce (1)

“Hehe,” Liang Yan chuckled coldly.

The phone suddenly disconnected without any warning.

What’s going on?

Lu Lincheng stared at the ended call screen, feeling puzzled, when a sudden headache struck him.

“Sss—”

The makeup artist accidentally pulled his real hair while fitting a wig, and quickly apologized, “Sorry, sorry, it was my fault…”

“It’s okay.” Lu Lincheng interrupted the makeup artist’s apology, handed the phone to his assistant, and glanced at the mirror.

Indeed, he was getting his hair done.

The filming of “Enchanting Immortal” was already halfway through. After the immortal’s tribulation, his true identity was restored. He transformed from a plain-clothed mortal with a handsome appearance into a lofty deity from the Ninth Heaven. With this change in identity, the drama’s styling had to change as well.

The hairstyles of mortals and immortals differed, so the wigs they had to wear were also different. Tonight was the final wig fitting, followed by shaping the sideburns according to the wig’s contours.

The hairstyling session took place not in Lu Lincheng’s suite, but in a hotel dressing room. His two assistants and another stylist were present in the room.

As the costume designer placed a silver hairpin on Lu Lincheng’s wig, she couldn’t help but gaze into the mirror.

This man truly suited ancient costumes. Unfortunately, in his previous blockbuster movies, he had to deliberately darken his appearance and use rough makeup to escape the constraints of his excessively perfect looks. Now, as long as he dressed according to the standards of a typical ancient male lead, he emanated an otherworldly aura that would captivate all beauty enthusiasts.

The costume designer shook her head.

When this drama airs, who knows how many women’s hearts will be once again touched and stirred?

On the second day, Liang Yan hastily returned to the film set by catching the early morning flight, without taking any rest. As soon as she arrived in Gudong, she rushed to the makeup room on the set.

The day’s shoot involved the scene where the immortal’s tribulation comes to an end and he defeats the big boss in an action sequence. The scenes of the young demon girl battling the boss had already been filmed a few days ago, so now she mostly served as a background presence, lying on the ground in certain shots to depict severe injuries.

Lu Lincheng was already in costume, portraying an immortal. He wore a pristine white costume adorned with exquisitely handcrafted silver thread embroidery. A light blue belt graced his waist. It was rumored that this immortal costume had been meticulously handcrafted by the costume designer several months prior to production and held significant value.

Liang Yan had special effects makeup applied, with props blood and dirt smudged on her clothes. The makeup artist had added a few bloodstains to her face, and her hair was intentionally messy and dirty, creating the appearance of someone severely injured and disheveled.

As Lu Lincheng emerged from the makeup room, his female colleagues couldn’t help but have their eyes light up.

Liang Yan rolled her eyes in response.

Peng Peng, appearing as if she had done something wrong, approached Liang Yan hesitantly. “Yan Yan, I really didn’t mean to do that last night…”

“It’s okay.” Liang Yan smiled and reassured her. “You don’t have to specifically inform me about these things in the future. It has nothing to do with me.”

“Let’s head to the set,” Liang Yan said, lifting the hem of her costume skirt.

“Oh,” Peng Peng replied, lowering her head and following behind.

Compared to other days, Liang Yan’s scenes were relatively relaxed. The scene where the immortal fights the big boss was a crucial moment in the drama. “Enchanting Immortal” had a substantial budget and had recruited the best special effects team in the country. Liang Yan spent the day lying on the ground, capturing close-up shots of her severe injuries, and then took on a background role, watching as Lu Lincheng, suspended in front of a green screen, gracefully maneuvered under the boss’s relentless attacks.

The fight choreography devised for Lu Lincheng was much more challenging than the martial arts sequences assigned to Liang Yan. Over the past few years, Lu Lincheng had filmed numerous action scenes and flawlessly executed those demanding moves, exhibiting clean and precise actions that were visually captivating, even in front of a green screen.

Lu Lincheng filmed the action scenes throughout the entire morning. During the lunch break, he managed to find some free time and went to see Liang Yan.

Liang Yan was eating a boxed meal when she heard Lu Lincheng standing at the door, but she didn’t say anything.

Lu Lincheng simply walked in, glanced down at Peng Peng, who was focused on her food, and smiled. “I have something to discuss with Liang Yan.”

Peng Peng shifted her gaze toward Liang Yan, silently indicating whether she should leave or stay.

Liang Yan delicately placed her chopsticks down and addressed Peng Peng, saying, “Why don’t you step out for a moment? This conversation might be too mature for young ears.”

“Oh,” Peng Peng replied and promptly left with her boxed meal.

Lu Lincheng settled himself in the vacated spot, carrying a bag in his hand. He retrieved its contents and offered them to Liang Yan, saying, “Give it a try.”

Inside the leak-proof container lay several beautifully presented hot dishes, clearly surpassing the standard of the boxed meals provided on set.

Liang Yan regarded his attempt to please her with disdain and sneered, “Lu Lincheng, have some self-respect.”

Lu Lincheng furrowed his brows. “You can say whatever you want, but at least give me a reason.”

“You want a reason?” Liang Yan’s anger swelled as she ruminated on their conversation from that day and the events of the previous night. She suddenly exploded, slamming the boxed meal onto the table and rising to her feet. “What do you mean by all of this?”

“Now I understand. You’ve been using me, haven’t you? It’s not about pursuing me; it’s about fulfilling your own passionate idol drama fantasies!”

“You’re so content with your idol image. Your mindless fans have mostly vanished, and you’re reveling in it, aren’t you?”

“Why did you come to join an ancient drama? On the surface, it may be because of me, but deep down, it’s to satisfy your longing for the role of a flawless romantic hero, something you’ve never had all these years!”

“I implore you to keep your distance from me in the future and refrain from speaking of pursuing me! Just separate yourself from me, and you can love and please your fans all you want. I can’t control that. However, now, when people see you, they’re not only laughing at you but also at me. Do you understand?”

When Liang Yan mentioned the term “fans,” Lu Lincheng could no longer contain himself. He seized Liang Yan’s arm, his teeth clenched, and questioned, “What… fans?”

Liang Yan defiantly lifted her chin, showing no trace of fear. “Damn it, in other words, it means engaging in some sort of inappropriate relationship with the women who lust after you!”

“Well, you’ve done quite well. It’s been three years, and you’ve managed to evade the paparazzi. How about teaching me your skills in avoiding them?”

Lu Lincheng’s face darkened like the bottom of a pot. He gazed at Liang Yan, who stood before him with arrogance and sarcasm, and let out a chilling laugh, saying, “If that’s truly the case, then fine, I admit it. I did have my own fans.”

Liang Yan expressed her disgust by rolling her eyes at his comment.

Lu Lincheng let go of her arm, which he had been holding, and said, “I’ve only been with one woman.”
