#Windsidealtype#

Xue Lan opened the super topic. Indeed, their teammate posted their game video from earlier on the Internet. It was a simple edit, capturing the moment when the medic encountered Wind at the beginning with a pleasant surprise, their clash, and finally when Wen Yan turned on his mic and spoke.

Xue Lan propped himself up. Surely, this time, they’d notice that ‘ResetWind’ was actually quite endearing, right?!

He stealthily opened the discussion, only to find that the atmosphere of the comments under the Weibo post was —

@LanlanisYange’scutie: What the fuck?! Isn’t this a public confession?

@Wind’spreciousLan: Isn’t this showing off one’s wife? Even a fool could tell this is pointing to my sweetheart!! If this isn’t sweet, I’ll do my homework upside down today!

@LanYansbannerwillneverfall: Ha ha ha ha, why do I feel like Wind God’s answer feels so straightforward? That girl has no room to speak ha ha ha ha.

@Windismine: Building, you have to stand firm; do not fall!!!

……

Xue Lan had gotten his hopes up repeatedly, and yet another letdown. He closed his Weibo, indifference in his movements.

Where was the problem?

The issue didn’t stem from Duan Wenzheng and Wen Yan. Right from the beginning, they had cultivated a revolutionary affection amidst their love-hate dynamic. So, why was it that the vast legion of fans shipping the two in the original work never seemed to materialize?

What, exactly, was the problem…?

While Xue Lan was contemplating in bewilderment, a sudden burst of knocking echoed at his door.

Xue Lan sat up, startled.

Swiftly tucking away his phone, he approached and opened the door.

Given the timing, Xue Lan couldn’t imagine anyone else but Duan Wenzheng at the door. So, when he opened it and found it wasn’t Duan Wenzheng standing there, his entire body froze.

It was Zhou Kanqing.

It was nearing two o’clock in the morning. In bewilderment, Xue Lan looked at Zhou Kanqing, standing at the door. “Is something the matter?”

Zhou Kanqing scanned the room behind him. “You’re alone?”

Xue Lan nodded, skeptical. It was two o’clock. If he wasn’t alone, who else could he be with?

As if disbelieving his words, Zhou Kanqing pushed the door open and stepped into the room, cautiously scanning the space as he circled around. Once he confirmed no one else was present, he retrieved his phone. With a steely voice, he asked, “How are you going to explain this?”

Following his words, Xue Lan glanced at the phone handed to him. At one look, his entire body froze in place, a chill creeping up and down his spine.

“Didn’t you say you have nothing to do with A-Yan, then what is this? What is with today’s trending search? How could A-Yan speak such words? You must have meticulously edited this!”

Xue Lan opened his mouth but, after a prolonged silence, found himself at a loss for words, unsure of how to explain.

Zhou Kanqing’s phone displayed a video showing him sneaking into Wen Yan’s room.

“What were you doing sneaking into A-Yan’s room? I didn’t ask you in the training room earlier because I wanted to trust and respect you as a teammate, but how are you going to explain the trending search?!”

Xue Lan’s expression instantly paled. In the silent, empty corridor, he hurriedly pulled Zhou Kanqing into his room to prevent others from overhearing.

“I can explain this,” Xue Lan said awkwardly. Observing Zhou Kanqing’s demeanor, which suggested he wouldn’t let the matter rest without a rational explanation, Xue Lan could only hang his head in defeat. “But you must promise me, you must not let Wind know… and not Reset!!”

“You still want me to stay silent?” Zhou Kangqing’s voice cut through the air with an icy edge. “If it endangers A-Yan and Duan Wenzheng, don’t expect my silence. Is A-Yan’s consideration insufficient for you? You were agitated by the medic earlier, but have you forgotten how tightly you once clung to A-Yan? He never protested and even vouched for your entry into the club. And what of Duan Wenzheng? I’ve never witnessed him treat someone with such care since childhood. Do you not feel anything? How do you…”

“Please, calm down.”

Xue Lan grasped the nuances of Zhou Kanqing’s demeanor, recognizing that his demeanor stemmed from concern for Wen Yan and Duan Wenzheng. Notably, his candidness struck Xue Lan with even greater clarity. Zhou Kanqing chose not to probe him during the initial misunderstanding but instead, while the others were still clueless, approached him privately after two successive incidents. This made Xue Lan understand that while Zhou Kanqing might not place absolute trust in him, he was affording him the room to establish it.

“You really… mustn’t tell Captain and Reset about this. I can promise you I didn’t do anything to harm them, and I have no relation to the Weibo post.

“The situation is like this. You know that Reset likes to anger Captain. They even clashed recently when they were living together.” Beneath Zhou Kanqing’s gaze, a blend of skepticism and attentiveness, Xue Lan maintained a cordial demeanor as he pressed on with his explanation:

“Meng Qi departed earlier today. The Captain was in a foul mood and had a spat with Reset. I was concerned they might escalate their clash, so—so…”

He swallowed hard, pushing past the tension under Zhou Kanqing’s intense stare. “In Reset’s name, I left a bottle of drink in Captain’s room.”

Zhou Kanqing widened his eyes. “That drink was…”

Xue Lan nodded. He cautiously extended a glass of water to Zhou Kanqing. “Captain doesn’t know about this, right?”

“…” Zhou Kanqing received the water with a casual air. As though still grappling with the veracity of the words spoken, he scrutinized the individual in front of him and replied with a hesitant pause, “He doesn’t. I didn’t tell him. How do you explain the trending search, though?”

“I don’t have any evidence for things that I didn’t do.” Xue Lan observed as Zhou Kanqing gradually regained composure and lowered his head to take a sip of his water. It seemed as though he had finally gathered his courage before adding:

“Besides, you and Reset are very familiar with each other… You should have realized that Reset likes Captain, right?”

Zhou Kanqing didn’t have time to swallow, and the water went down the wrong windpipe. A ‘puh’ sound spurted out from him.
