Shouldn’t you go to prison at least once before you die? (31)
The Count, heightened with excitement, showed no signs of backing down. Before long a private soldier of black wizards would swarm. Krihel can’t help but worry about the damage to the private houses outside the imperial palace.
‘If only I had a little more time.’
Krihel’s brows, which had been relaxed the whole time, narrowed with regret.
‘Then I’ll end the situation before the black wizards arrive.’
Krihel naturally thought so. If the commander in charge of the battle could no longer be able to engage in battle, it was obvious that the black wizards would also lose their purpose and wander.
Through the gates of the imperial palace, Krihel shouted loudly at Count Abitz’s army.
“Our purpose is not to defend the imperial palace! It is to condemn the traitors!”
The morale of the soldiers soared at Krihel’s every word, they were united in his confidence in victory. With the burst of shouts, Count Abitz hesitated and took hold of the reins of his horse. And he also shouted at his own soldiers.
“In front of me!”
The soldiers in black armor lined up and surrounded the Count, escorting him with a steady gait. By the time the Count’s figure was no longer visible, they raised an oval-shaped shield large enough to cover an adult man’s body and protected his back.
“I guess you’re trying to save your life by hiding behind the soldiers until the black wizards arrive.”
Krihel clicked his tongue at the Count’s cruelty to casually use his soldiers as meat shields. And the antipathy grew towards Serdebella, the saint who had been unsparing in supporting such a person by introducing him as a loyalist to Krihel.
‘I must have been possessed by a witch.’
The thought that the monarch of a country had been played by such an insignificant nobleman and the saint decorated with lies drove him to shame. Krihel gritted his teeth, wanting to correct his past.
“Don’t hesitate, charge! End the situation before reinforcements arrive for the traitors!”
“Waaaaa!”
As the smooth blade pointed forward, soldiers sprang out. Looking at the terrain from the inside out, from a narrow place to a wide place, Krihel was inferior, but each and every soldier was so talented that this did not become a big obstacle.
They seemed to be blocked by the simple shield, but when the sharp and strong army pierced it and pushed through, the count’s soldiers began to shake easily.
Like the tide of the sea, Krihel’s men advanced with no hesitation. Seeing his soldiers collapse helplessly, the Count bit his lip in nervousness.
When one of the soldiers, frightened by Krihel’s spirit, trembled next to the Count and was unable to swing his sword, the Count quickly stabbed the soldier in the heart. The soldier’s eyes, stained with fear, gradually darkened and fell to the floor.
When their ally fell in a place where Krihel’s soldiers had not yet gathered, a small commotion arose. At the same time, the gaze was focused on the fallen soldier.
“I will kill those who do not advance! Fight with all your might!”
One of his soldiers shouted back at the Count.
“It’s, it’s impossible! We don’t have a shot! It is right to repent and retreat right away!”
The soldier, who had the quickest judgment among them, died from Count Abitz’s blade.
Count Abitz’s nervousness only added to the number of casualties that had been lopsided in the first place. As the death screams neared, he began to look around for no reason.
“Why aren’t they coming! Why!”
He shouted harshly, and as if the sky had heard it, it turned red in an instant.
The blood-splattering fight under the red sky became quiet for a moment, and everyone raised their heads at the same time and looked at it.
“They are finally here!”
The Count’s face was filled with joy. A huge blue magic circle began to be engraved in the air.
Krihel’s soldiers instinctively retreated a few steps back at the high-level magic that was not usually easily seen. Count Abitz, who saw it without missing it, laughed loudly.
“Come! Come on, let’s show our strength!”
As he stretched out his arms toward the sky, the magic circle flashed with a ‘whoong-’ sound. Like a lightning struck, the surroundings turned bright, and Krihel also covered his eyes from the light with one hand.
And something fiercely fell from the air. Unfortunately, one of the soldiers standing right under it collided with the rapidly falling object and collapsed without making a single sound.
“… what?”
The thing that had fallen right in front of the Count was the soldier who had been sent to Sezaine. He fell naked without even wearing his underwear and had thin, thin cut marks all over his body.
However, judging from the depth it was not simply cut by paper. Having already lost his life, he appeared in front of the Count hacked to pieces.
Before the Count could even realize the situation, the sky shone again. And it started to rain. A heavy, dark, grotesque rain of corpses.
All the black wizards of Count Abitz poured down as corpses in the same state as the soldier before.
Even for Krihel, who is familiar with corpses, the current scene was unbearably disgusting. In addition to the rotten smell, the sound of vomiting did not cease from all over the place.
“This can’t be happening. This can’t… I trained them… this can’t be happening!”
Who the hell did this?
Two demons appeared to give an answer to the devastated Count Abitz.
“Is it you who made me do such a troublesome thing?”
“Ah, Mr. Raynon. You should say thank you more politely. The one who looked the most excited is the most embarrassed.”
“It’s not enough to say thank you. My body hasn’t healed yet.”
“Wow, speaking like a master of arguing. Cool! It would be perfect if you enter the second year of the middle school course at the Demon School!”
“Stop teasing me, Pierre!”
Pierre and Raynon, floating in the air not far from the ground, started bickering with each other right in front of the Count’s eyes.
The Count, realizing that he was absolutely at a disadvantage, tugged at the horse’s reins and turned it around.
“Hiiiinng!”
“Whoa- whoa- where are you going in such a hurry?”
“If you’re that busy, you should have gone yesterday.”
The Count’s body floated up from his horse, and was trapped in a translucent circle, unable to move. Raynon and Pierre bickered like they were going to kill each other, then stopped talking and looked at the Count at the same time.
“What our demon king said… you ‘annoyed’ him?”
With a speed that could not be seen with the naked eye, Pierre approached Count Abitz and seized him with such force that it seemed to crush his neck.
“Just killing an insect is not as difficult as breathing.”
Pierre very lightly threw Count Abitz, whose face had grown pale. It seemed like he was throwing it easily with one hand, but the Count’s body was pinned to the ground and the sound of his bones being fractured resounded loudly.
Thrown right in front of Krihel, Count Abitz writhed in pain and screamed.
“Hey, human king. We were told to keep that pig alive and give it to you, so I’ll pass it on to you.”
“The Demon King has helped you.”
“He didn’t exactly help you, but anyway. And these too… He told me to kill all those who use magic in Sezaine and scatter them.”
“… Thank you.”
Without replying, Pierre let out a leisurely yawn. Raynon jumped up and stood beside Pierre.
“Let’s just go back.”
“Are we leaving already? Let’s go play around a bit more. If we go now, we will have a lot of work to do.”
“That is why we have to go quickly. How long are you going to leave it to the lower end punks?”
“I know you want to go quickly because the Demon King is there! Now I have no choice but to openly call you ‘Demon King’s perverted stalker’… ack!”
Together with a scream, Raynon and Pierre’s figures distorted and disappeared into the light.
For a moment, there was an astonishing silence, and a solemn and powerful word was fired from it.
“The suppression was successful. Arrest all the traitors!”
