Transmigrated into the Cannon Fodder's Daughter - Chapter 19.2
Editor: Aaghna
After watching the Li family’s drama, Li Xiao ordered a meal for her hungry stomach. She pondered about what she could do in future. Maybe she could pick up her old job.
The current ‘her’ was in need of connections to help fight the Li family and Zhan Jiayin’s allies. Even if she didn’t want to fight, Zhan Jiayin, her son and daughter wouldn’t let her off the hook.
She spent hours selecting a well-established restaurant and ordered some of the sparrow spirit’s favorite foods. Anyway, when they were in the mountains, the sparrow followed her and would eat anything except yogurt with nuts.
Before the takeout arrived, Li Xiao sensed someone come within proximity of the villa. She had cast a spell over the villa’s surroundings, so if anyone came close, she could sense it.
The doorbell rang, and Li Xiao took a look. Li Qianfei stood outside. Li Qianfei looked very similar to the young Zhan Jiayin. Her facial features were delicate and pretty, and her skin was as white as jade. The soft crinkle of her eyes when she smiled made her look especially pure. Her leftover baby fat made her look even more loveable and pleasing.
Li Xiao muttered a plan to herself. She went to turn on the security cameras in the living room before unhurriedly going to open the door.
Li Qianfei briskly entered. Upon entering, she affectionately said, “Elder Sister, I’m home.”
She acted as though they were close siblings who never quarreled with each other.
Li Xiao’s expression remained indifferent, and her tone was polite. “Welcome home.”
Li Qianfei looked at her in surprise, but a smile remained on her face. “Elder Sister doesn’t live at home? You live by yourself out here. It must be hard. Mrs. Li’s cooking is spectacular. If it were me, I wouldn’t want to move out. When I was living abroad, I missed her cooking and my mom’s soup the most.”
The corner of Li Xiao’s mouth peeled back. The ‘Mrs. Li’ Li Qianfei spoke of was the Li family’s cook and Zhan Jiayin’s former neighbor. Typically, she only cooked Zhan Jiayin’s favorite foods and never bothered to care about what Li Xiao liked to eat.
“It’s really tough. I have to order take-out for all three meals now,” Li Xiao chimed.
Before Li Qianfei could invite her back home, Li Xiao made a fist with her right hand and punched her left palm. “You reminded me. I have to hire a chef to cook for me. An hourly employee isn’t enough. Dad would certainly agree, don’t you think?”
As for the money to pay for the chef, Li Nanjue would, of course, be the one paying for it. Typically, the hourly worker would come every day and sweep every room except the bedroom before leaving. They weren’t responsible for Li Xiao’s three meals.
Li Qianfei’s smile froze.
“Let’s put one chef in charge of Chinese food and the other in charge of Western. En, and we’ll have to, at the bare minimum, hire one of those three-star Michelin chefs.”
As Li Qianfei watched Li Xiao’s impudent attitude, she became increasingly frustrated. She didn’t understand how things had progressed to this stage. Li Xiao was still as arrogant as before and had no self-awareness.
Li Qianfei spent over a day on planes to get back to China to surprise her mom. She didn’t expect to see her mother crying upon arriving home. She learned her dad had given 10% of the company shares to Li Xiao. He even intended to give Li Xiao the department store. It was as if he was bewitched by a potion. Before Li Qianfei went abroad, her father despised Li Xiao.
Dad had done this without even consulting them, so it was no wonder Mom was so heartbroken.
Since Li Qianfei was on a flight, she hadn’t heard about the situation with Zhan Jiayin and Ren Shaotang. And Zhan Jiayin couldn’t bring herself to talk about her scandal with another man in front of her daughter. So when her daughter interrogated her, she naturally pushed everything onto Li Xiao.
Li Qianfei had learned where Li Xiao currently resided through the nanny. She came over but ended up being frustrated by Li Xiao. She was certain that her mother had been bullied by Li Xiao while she was away.
Li Qianfei remembered her reason for coming here and suppressed the anger in her heart. She pulled out a necklace with a phoenix on it. The entirety of the phoenix was carved from the highest quality gold. It’s beauty was incomprehensible.
With a reluctant face, she handed the necklace over to Li Xiao, “Elder Sister, this necklace is for you.”
Li Xiao raised her eyebrow. She knew Li Qianfei was hiding evil intentions. Even if she wasn’t well-versed with her jewelry, she could tell the necklace was extremely expensive.
“Isn’t this one of your treasured belongings?”
Li Xiao lowered her head to look at her phone, pretending to be uninterested. But she secretly started recording.
“Last year was your coming-of-age ceremony, a girl’s most important day. Unfortunately, some things came up on that day, and we weren’t able to celebrate it. So I want to give this necklace to you as a token of appreciation. You don’t need to be so formal with me. We’re sisters. It doesn’t matter how expensive this necklace is. It’s not as important as our relationship, don’t you agree?” Li Qianfei spoke honestly.
She plastered on a sad expression and said, “If you don’t accept this, does that mean you aren’t forgiving us?”
Li Xiao had to admit, this was Zhan Jiayin’s daughter. Zhan Jiayin passed down all the tricks in the book to Li Qianfei. Even the way they spoke was the same. It made it seem like Li Xiao was letting them down if she didn’t forgive them.
Li Xiao took the necklace, saying “Then, thank you for your kindness.”
She was curious. What would Li Qianfei try to pull using this necklace?
Upon seeing Li Xiao willingly take the necklace, Li Qianfei gazed at the necklace with both pleasure and reluctance.
“The necklace doesn’t look good on me. It suits you better.”
Li Qianfei massaged her temples. “I just got off the plane, so I’m a little tired. I’ll go home first. If you have more to say, you can come home. We’re family, after all. There aren’t any hard feelings.”
“I will,” Li Xiao said, feigning civility.
When Li Xiao got her driver’s license, she’d make sure to have Li Nanjue buy her a car. She had her eyes on a few limited-edition models and would gladly let her scum dad pay for them.
