Transmigrated into the Cannon Fodder's Daughter - Chapter 57.1

Qu Lian was intrinsically nitpicky, but she had also wanted to pressurize Cang Ming. Their family had spent a million dollars just to bring him over. He was devilish, demanding two million dollars for each person, eventually adding up to a cost of eight million.
Even if they had money, they couldn’t afford to throw it away like this.
Because of the anger in Qu Lian’s heart, she couldn’t help but nag when she saw Qu Lian. Because of her age, and her status as Li Nanjue’s mother, people usually catered to her. Cang Ming’s disobedience further fueled her anger, due in part to her belief that everyone should kowtow to her.
She hadn’t expected Cang Ming to bite back like this.
She was sleep-deprived, old, and had an explosive temper. And because of Cang Ming, the anger swelled until it burst. Overwhelmed by anger, she spoke out of turn.
“Go then! If you go, I’ll make sure no one will hire an unethical person like you again!”
Cang Ming had already received the deposit, so he didn’t particularly care. If Qu Lian managed the company, she would’ve fired hundreds of employees a day.
Qu Lian was shocked at the way Cang Ming thought. Technically, he was her staff, so he should be catering to her.
Cang Ming paused his steps and coldly spat, “As you wish.”
Since the client told him to leave, he could go.
In his mind, Cang Ming nodded, proud of his flawless logic. He didn’t hesitate to leave, he was eager to go back and catch up on some sleep. Lately, he was always sleepy, and was never able to get enough sleep.
Li Qianfei was disturbed and unconsciously reached her hand out to grab him, but before her hand could touch him, she felt as though her hand was feverishly burnt, and she violently pulled her hand away.
In the next second, Cang Ming’s figure vanished, as if he were an ink painting that gradually faded away. The Li family blinked their eyes rapidly, they couldn’t see Cang Ming’s figure anymore.
He had disappeared right before them with such speed that the Li family didn’t even have time to regret their actions.
Li Qianfei and the others were dumbfounded, and they stared blankly into thin air.
Qu Lian came back to her senses and was so angry that the entirety of her body trembled. “He-he actually ran away?”
Li Nanjue was exhausted to the point of no return. Recently, he had been stuck at home, dealing with his insufferable mother with her incomprehensible personality.
“Well, weren’t you the one who told him to leave?” Li Nanjue’s voice was exhausted and angry.
The Taoist master, whom they had gone through so much trouble inviting, had been offended by Li Nanjue’s mother. Extremely capable people refused to withstand such irksome treatment. Qu Lian never had a good personality, but she seldom harmed Li Nanjue. Li Nanjue’s mind was blank, unmoving, and he only wished someone could help him bear the weight.
Qu Lian gritted her teeth and said, “He’s unethical! Get the deposit back! Don’t give him a penny!”
Li Qianfei still wanted to have a good relationship with Cang Ming and hoped she could make him fall in love with her. So how could she watch her grandmother ruin him? Li Qianfei was inwardly annoyed at her grandmother’s horrible temper.
“Grandma, you offended him. It’ll be impossible to invite him over in the future.”
“According to the agreement signed, as long as he comes to the door, he’ll get the deposit,” Li Nanjue said.
In the blink of an eye, Qu Lian had lost four million dollars and was consumed by anger; it was simply suffocating. Feeling her son’s disapproving gaze, she said, “I don’t know why he’s so angry. I’m an elderly woman. Why can’t he let me go? He doesn’t know how to respect the elderly at all.”
In the past few days, Qu Lian hadn’t been able to sleep well and had a splitting headache, but Qu Lian endured. “Just invite him back again. I’ll apologize, all right?’
Li Qianfei inwardly scowled at her grandmother, whose apology wasn’t worth much.
Li Nanjue called Cang Ming, but the phone merely replied, “The user you are calling is offline.” Cang Ming had blocked them.
Li Nanjue could only call the friend who had acted as an intermediary before and beg him to help out. His friend was also very upset.
【Nanjue, I went through all the trouble to help you hire him, and your family offended him. How am I supposed to explain that? What if he refuses to help me in the future as well?】
All Li Nanjue could do was apologize and make promises. Only then did his friend reluctantly agree.
【Okay, I’ll try. Take care of your mother. Not everyone gets along with her.】
Li Nanjue’s expression was sour.
When Li Qianfei saw it, she couldn’t help but complain, “Grandma, look. It’s all because of you that dad, who is a proud man, has to stoop to such a low level.”
In the past, Li Nanjue was proud. He looked down on the rest of the world and bankrupted several families with a smile. But now that he had lost everything, his charm seemed to have diminished.
Qu Lian felt like she was suffocating, but she could only endure the frustration.
Cang Ming finally loosened up.
In the evening, he finally agreed to come again.
“He agreed to come over tomorrow,” Li Nanjue said to Li Qianfei.
Of course, in order to invite the Taoist master over again, he had to pay another deposit. This meant that they would be paying twelve million for the exorcism. However, there was no need to talk about this with his mother. She would surely make trouble again.
Qu Lian, tired and sleepy, heard this and shot up. “Why not now?”
She winced at the thought of tonight’s nightmares. She was old and not as resilient as young people. If this continued, she would only find herself in the hospital.
Li Nanjue’s expression sank as he mulled over her words. “His subordinate said he was already sleeping.”
Qu Lian, who hadn’t slept well in the past few days, was envious.
