Beast of the Frozen Night - Chapter 104.1
At her words, Daymond covered his face with a large hand, looking momentarily bewildered. He hadn’t expected her sudden interest in a jewel. Turns out it was one resembling the color of his eyes.
He felt like his heart was tickling and he wasn’t able to control his smile, he struggled to maintain composure. As he was trying to hide his overwhelming emotion, Anne’s gentle hand rested on his arm.
“Why? Don’t you like it?”
Anne asked, her face looked concerned at his unusual behavior. Daymond nodded with a soft smile.
“Now that I see it, you’re right. The red coral suits you best.”
“The <adam seems to deeply love her husband. Just so you know, this is one of the most expensive pieces we have.”
“Oh, I picked the most expensive one, huh? You will buy it for me, right?”
There was nothing he couldn’t buy for her. If she wished, he’d buy not just the shop but the entire city and present it to her. He just wanted to have her all to himself and compensate for every moment of loneliness he ever felt.
Realizing his narrow-mindness, Daymond acknowledged that her busy times were always for the family. She had always forgiven his pettiness and always thought of him. Her unwavering affection made him feel guilty for any jealousy he had shown off for more.
Daymond looked at Anne with a lovely look, and gestured to the servant standing behind him to pay for all the necklaces.
Despite her protests, Daymond began purchasing almost everything Anne showed interest in. It was no use even if she said she was just looking. After all, he was the man known for lavishing her with flowers and gifts before so it was of no use trying to stop him.
Holding a beautifully wrapped box, Daymond beamed, looking exceptionally pleased. Anne chuckled, seeing him insist on carrying the necklace box and smiling as if he owned the world.
After exploring the bustling streets, they reached the pier at the end of an alley. As they approached the waterfront, the salty air intensified, revealing a new view.
A large ship was docking with the sound of boat horns, cutting through the water. Seeing the immense vessel for the first time, Anne gazed up at it in awe.
“Oh my….The ship is as big as the Grand Duke’s castle.”
“The Grand Duke’s Castle is only as big as that ship? Maybe it’s time for an expansion.”
Daymond joked as if amused by Anne’s surprised words as if it hurt his pride.
“It’s just an expression. But where did that ship come from?”
“It seems to be from Nefar Bay.”
Daymond speculated, noticing the flag fluttering on the mast. Then, as if a thought just occurred to him, he suggested.
“How about traveling to other countries when Eroel gets older?”
“Is it really okay?”
Anne asked with shining eyes, a stark contrast to her previous concerns about the Grand Duke’s Castle.
Raised as a noble bride, she had hardly ventured beyond the capital before her marriage. Her knowledge of other countries is confined to books. Perhaps that’s why the freedom she longed for in her youth seemed rekindled now.
With a gentle smile, Daymond reassured her.
“What’s not possible? If you wish to go, we’ll go.”
“But it’s beyond the continent.”
Despite her voice showing concern, Daymond could feel the excitement inside.
“As long as we’re together, the location doesn’t matter. I’ll always be by your side.”
Squinting her eyes at his condition, Anne teased.
“So, I can never go alone? Are you afraid I’ll run away?”
“My wife is too clumsy to be left alone.”
“Alright, I’ll take you with me.”
Anne agreed with a face beaming with youthful enthusiasm and freshness. Daymond promised her so.
As they spoke, people began disembarking from the ship as the deck was lowered. Well-dressed noblewomen with parasols escorted by gentlemen, followed by a mix of common folks and people busy unloading their luggages.
“It seems we’ve seen enough, shall we head back?”
Their sightseeing was almost over, so they were about to leave. However, Anne’s steps froze as a group of people, notably weary and distressed among the crowd of people, caught her eye.
Anne stiffened as if her legs had frozen, prompting Daymond to follow her gaze and frown after seeing the faces.
“Angroanne!”
The Countess who saw Anne, opened her eyes wide and shouted. It drew the attention of the fatigued Count and Robert who looked like they were all dying and they raised their heads.
