Beast of the Frozen Night - Chapter 87.2
He placed his hand over Anne’s and plunged himself deep into her. Daymond let out a soft gasp as he gently scraped and stimulated her inner walls.
“Haa, Anne, thank you. I love you. I love you.”
Anne moaned hotly in his arms at the confession of truth that burst out through his heavy breathing.
He was not impatient, nor did he pounce on her like an animal, but was gentle and considerate. With all of her strength relaxed, he gently massaged her breasts and continued to move his waist carefully, taking her stomach into consideration.
The early morning moon and stars twinkled brilliantly beyond the high ceiling glass. With the scent of flowers so sweet that it numbed her nose.

Anne looked up at him for a moment as he gently stroked the area around her wet eyes with his thumb. Now that she was looking directly into his eyes, it felt quite amazing.
“I’m sorry for treating you harshly. For hurting you with those awful words.”
He took this opportunity to apologize to her again.
“Did you resent me while looking at my painting in that room?”
“I didn’t just resent it.”
He withdrew his hand from gently caressing her and kissed the side of Anne’s forehead. Although her body was spent from the lovemaking, Anne listened to him in silence.
“I replayed the times we spent together, over and over. I missed you like crazy, every time. Love and hate eventually mixed together.”
Over the past four hundred years, the nights had become ever longer, and the love and hate always grew deeper. Along with the faint memories, the nostalgic feelings became deeper and heavier under the weight of time. As resentment grew, love also deepened.
“You were the howling beast.”
When Anne placed her hand on his cheek, he tilted his head and meekly gazed at her. When his gaze fell on her more profoundly than ever before, she felt extremely embarrassed.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“I’m afraid you might change your mind and disappear again.”
After their passionate affair, he held her to his chest without loosening his arms the whole time. Anne buried her face gently in his chest.
“I won’t run away… I won’t even leave. Now that I’ve decided to let go of the past.”
The body temperature she felt again for the first time in a long time was no longer cool. His body temperature and heartbeat were already soothing her aching heart.
After a while, Daymond got up first and helped her get up. Anne gathered up her clothes and dug out a small box with him to finish what she had originally set out to do.
They stared at each other’s faces for a moment. Anne, looking at her own face fully reflected in the red eyes, shed the sadness along with her tears.
“With this, I’m letting go of the past.”
“Of course.”
As she dropped the ring into the wooden box, a refreshing sound rang in her ears. Next, the two put the box containing the ring into the hole dug in the ground. Soft dirt fell on the box.
They were products of the past and were no longer needed. This life was a second chance. Just as he was comforted by the opportunity presented to him, Anne was comforted by his decision.
Meticulous hands buried the box and pressed on the dirt. Anne closed her eyes, leaving what at first glance seemed like a small grave. A single teardrop rolled down her white cheek.
They took a moment of silence. And it wasn’t until the morning sunlight had fully risen that they left there together. They didn’t plan on thinking about it anymore.
13. Flowers blooming again
From that day on, peace came to the Grand Duke’s castle.
It originated from the affectionate appearance of the Grand Ducal couple, who were never separated from each other for a moment. The people of the castle were happy that their relationship, which had been estranged for a while, had finally become harmonious.
However, one thing that was puzzling was that their relationship seemed to have reversed somehow. For example, the Grand Duke followed behind the Grand Duchess and waited on her hand and foot.
Anne sighed as she felt the gaze on her again today.
“I know you’re following me, so stop hiding and come out.”
Anne, who was taking an afternoon stroll along the lakeshore, spoke without even looking behind her. The shy-faced Daymond appeared from behind a tree. He had followed her after intentionally softening his footsteps.
“Why are you here? Today was the day of the meeting you were supposed to attend. Ashton even came and asked where you were.”
Anne was displeased with the man who kept loitering around her recently. He followed her wherever she went, worrying as if she would be blown away by the wind or would slip and get hurt.
“I’m not following you, I’m just going to my office.”
Daymond made an excuse, pointing in the direction of the west building. It was a bit of a detour, but the road continued this way to the main building, so it was a good enough excuse.
“If you’re going to say that.”
It was an obvious lie. Anne swallowed her laughter.
What to do? She forgave him, but he didn’t want to stay away from her even for a moment. It was probably because he wanted to devote his all to her.
