Beast of the Frozen Night - Chapter 88.1
Of course, even though she had forgiven him, it still felt awkward at first. However, thanks to Daymond’s sincerity and his constant efforts to talk to her, Anne eventually relaxed her heart and accepted him.
“Aren’t you hungry? If there’s anything you want to eat, I’ll tell them to bring it right now, so just tell me.”
“Daymond, I just finished eating.”
Even though she had gained a lot of weight recently, he was not satisfied and took care of Anne’s meals to an unusual extent. He pushed the food into her mouth again, to the point where her cheeks were bloated.
Strangely enough, the signs of her morning sickness, which had been rampant, disappeared after that day in the greenhouse. Thanks to this, the painful nausea faded and her condition recovered a lot. But now, it was time to worry about her body growing bigger and bigger.
“The baby will be born soon, but you’re so fragile… If you don’t gain more weight, it will be difficult to endure.”
His anxious eyes filled with worry slowly swept over Anne’s body. In his eyes, even walking seemed precarious for her.
“They say there’s still three more months before the baby comes. We just have to prepare carefully.”
It was little wonder he was so worried. In her previous life, she could not survive childbirth. Thinking about it over and over again, she knew that it contributed to his fear.
But even taking that into account, his actions were somewhat unreasonable.
“Anyway, you have to go attend the meeting. Don’t forget that you promised to officially take care of your affairs.”
Despite her words, he only moved his lips and did not respond.
“Daymond, answer me.”
She fixed at him with a stern look, and only then did he nod very slowly. It was a pretty sulky expression, so Anne couldn’t help but laugh on the inside.
As Anne took her steps, enjoying the sunlight sparkling between the trees, he quickly moved next to her. A cool breeze blew between them as they stopped talking. Anne continued walking, listening to the sound of the leaves fluttering gently in her ears.
As the weather became warmer, the northern part of the country became a comfortable place to live. It was also nice that there was no stifling heat. Anne tucked her hair behind her ear as the cool breeze blew through her neat hair.
For a moment, her downcast eyes caught sight of the large hand hanging awkwardly. Anne gently placed her hand in his palm, which shook with each step he took. She felt him startle.
Hoping it wasn’t a mistake, he clasped his fingers around hers properly. When her hands, which had been cooling down due to the wind, met his, a warmth could be felt. The linked hands moved slowly between the two people.
Afterwards, like an obedient puppy, Daymond followed her instructions and attended the meeting, but as soon as the agenda was completed, he quickly returned to the bedroom. It was because he wanted to serve her with his own hands rather than having someone else do it.
Daymond, who picked up Anne without any delay, looked down at her and smiled. Anne, who was starting, hugged his neck even more tightly.
“It feels really good that you cling to me.”
“I’m heavy, so please put me down.”
“Even if you become twice as heavy as you are now, you are still like a light puppy to me.”
Anne entered the bathroom in his embrace. She had an embarrassed look on her face. She didn’t know when the tub had been filled, but the bathroom was steaming hot.
He kissed Anne lightly on the cheek and carefully set her down on the long chair next to the bathtub. When Anne looked up at him, he personally put his hand inside the bathtub to check the temperature.
“I thought we were going to the hot springs.”
“What nonsense. You wouldn’t know who might be wandering around…”
Displeasure flashed across his face, as if he was imagining a scenario that would never happen.
“You told me before that it didn’t matter if they saw.”
He was much more docile now, but when the word that he had spoken so mischievously not even a year ago came to mind…
“That… At that time…”
Daymond lowered his eyes to the floor, an embarrassed look on his face. Anne, who realized that much of his old temperament had died, soon softened her lips.
“It’s in the past.”
He quickly cheered up after hearing that, and carefully carried her to the tub.
Anne, supported by him, dipped her body into the prepared bathtub. Perhaps because he had been swirling his hand back and forth, the temperature was just right and she quickly felt tired. As she leaned back against the wall of the bathtub, Daymond pulled her hair out and carefully ran lukewarm water over it.
“If you feel uncomfortable, please tell me immediately.”
His hands washed her hair very carefully. Anne closed her eyes in pleasure, enjoying the sensation of his fingertips tracing her skin.
His hand carefully massaged her tense shoulders and gradually slid down in an odd manner.
“Daymond, you’re not thinking about something else, are you?”
“The doctor said that when you have a child, your body often swells. It’s good if we massage it often.”
Anne nodded, wondering if she had been too sensitive, but what happened next confirmed her premonition.
