Beast of the Frozen Night - Chapter 88.2
After that, Anne worked hard in her own way, as did Daymond. Every employee of the castle was delighted to see the Grand Duke and his wife getting along so well. They hoped their relationship would continue like this.
However, about a month had passed since the day when the Grand Duke and his wife changed in a friendly manner…
“That’s not allowed!”
For the first time in a long time, the Grand Duke’s heavy voice rang the morning of the Grand Duke’s castle. Surprised employees were pacing around in front of the Grand Ducal couple’s bedroom, wondering if they had gone from being a proper couple to the way they were before.
Ashton, who appeared among them looking tense at the sound of the Grand Duke’s loud voice, took notice and dismissed the others. However, unlike the worried faces of the others, he smiled softly and left the scene.
Others were concerned that a fight had broken out between the couple, but the reality was different.
“Baby, are you surprised? Your father is such an inconsiderate person. You must have been surprised because he was screaming so loudly in the morning.”
Anne buttoned the shirt, took her eyes off a frowning Daymond, and calmly patted her stomach.
“That…”
“I think Daymond is angry.”
“I’m… not angry….”
Up until now, he had been careful not to make loud noises and spoke quietly for fear that Anne, who was pregnant, might get startled. But without realizing it, he raised his voice again.
He tossed away the shirt, climbed onto the bed, and quickly sat down next to Anne. Then, as if he was telling the baby, he placed his palm on the back of Anne’s hand, who was caressing her stomach.
“It’s not that I’m angry, I just… have a loud voice.”
He, who had a large physique, made an excuse while gently rubbing her stomach, as if he was not angry. After that, he stared at her stomach for a while, then lightly placed his lips on Anne’s cheek and apologized.
“Anne, I wasn’t angry, I was worried about you.”
The reason why the Grand Duke and his wife’s opinions clashed for the first time in a while was because of Anne’s announcement that she was going to Tahor village.
Anne opened her mouth when she saw his eyes drooping in front of her.
“You were the one who asked me if I wanted to go there the other day.”
“That’s true, but…”
Why would he say something like that? He wanted to hit himself on the head. He hadn’t known that Anne was pregnant, and it was a topic that came up during dinner while he was looking for a topic to talk about.
At that time, he had completely forgotten about it because of her stubborn refusal, but he didn’t think that she would bring it up again only today.
But Daymond knew that once Anne spoke up, he could not change her mind. He suppressed his nervousness and ran a hand through his hair instead.
“Why not? I want to go. I heard that the village has been rebuilt even better than before, and I would like to see the extent to which this has been accomplished.”
“That won’t do— it’s dangerous.”
The reason he refused was because it was dangerous. Anne looked at him with a dumbfounded face. He took care of her better than ever. In other words, he was being overprotective.
Anne had been living only inside the Grand Duke’s castle since the festival, and her body had become heavy and cramped. She became curious about the village from the last time. She was also curious about the couple who came to the Grand Duke’s castle to express their gratitude and the girl who gave her flowers.
So she suggested that they go today, which caused an uproar.
In the end, Anne carefully considered her words, and she asked a question that would weaken his heart. Something he could never refuse, due to his regret for his previous actions.
“Daymond, do I have to stay stuck here?”
As expected, he paused after putting off answering. Seeing his drooping expression for a moment, Anne seemed to have gone too far. She placed her other hand on the back of his hand, which was holding her, and asked.
“What’s the problem with going together?”
“Am I going with you too?”
Anne burst out laughing at his hesitant question. He looked like he hadn’t even thought about it.
“Did you think I was going alone with this body? Sp you agree?”
When she said that of course he would accompany her, Daymond’s expression softened for a moment. But he was still worried and did not readily answer. Nonetheless, in the end, he curled his tail like a tamed animal.
“If you say so…”
“Thank you.”
Anne, who quickly responded to his answer, stroked his hair once to express her gratitude. Daymond’s face brightened, as his displeasure disappeared into the air.
