When Tao Ti woke up, the bed beside her was already empty. She stretched her arms and yawned, feeling exceptionally refreshed after last night’s sleep. She attributed it to having a full stomach before going to bed.

Since knowing that the Crown Princess was going to accompany the Crown Prince to Prince Yu’s residence for the birthday celebration, Linglong had been busy making preparations for it—

“Um, either is fine.”

“Since it’s Prince Wang’s birthday banquet, this newly made cerise changshan² with embroidered peach blossom petals seems nice too. It’s festive and complements your complexion…”

“So, this one then?”

“Wait a moment, I remember there’s also a stone-blue palace skirt that’s not bad too. Let me find it and show you.”

Tao Ti, “…”

After selecting the attire, Linglong continued to inquire, “What about your hairstyle? How would you like it done? There will surely be many noble ladies attending. I heard that the Second Princess will be there too. She always pays great care to her dressing and appearance. When you first went to Ganlu Palace to pay respects, she intentionally tried to outshine you. At this birthday banquet, you hold the highest status among the female guests, so you can’t let her steal the limelight.”

“You can decide on the hairstyle.”

Over this period of time, Tao Ti could clearly feel Linglong becoming closer to her and talking more. Of course, this was undoubtedly a good thing—it indicated that Linglong was gradually trusting her.

On this day, while the early morning sky still had a hint of crabshell blue, Tao Ti was awakened by Linglong from her bed and dragged to the dressing table to get ready.

Her sleepy eyes refused to open; she leaned lazily back in the chair, tilting her little face upwards with her eyes closed and pretended to be a mannequin, letting Linglong do as she pleased.

When Pei Yan walked in, he happened to see her in this “do as you wish” submissive state.

He approached slowly and watched quietly for a while.

After Linglong applied a delicate layer of powder to Tao Ti’s face, she picked up an eyebrow pencil to draw her brows. Pei Yan stared at her pretty brows and couldn’t help but recall the phrase, “After finishing your makeup, ask your husband in a soft voice, whether the eyebrows are drawn just right.”

Out of nowhere, perhaps driven by a sudden burst of enthusiasm, he raised his hand, gesturing for Linglong to give him the eyebrow pencil.

Linglong was momentarily taken aback but quickly realized his intention and handed him the eyebrow pencil before discreetly stepping aside with a mischievous smile.

Meanwhile, Tao Ti continued to sleep with her eyes closed, completely unaware that the person beside her had changed.

Pei Yan reached out and gently cradled her small face.

His hand was large, and her face was petite, so his hand was like a small pillow, supporting her entire face.

Feeling the warmth in his palm, a faint smile curled on Pei Yan’s lips. He bent down, his handsome features displaying utmost seriousness as he proceeded with gentle and cautious strokes.

The girl’s natural eyebrows were beautifully shaped—neither too sparse nor too thick. They had a soft, dark hue with slender and graceful curved ends.

Beneath those eyebrows lay a pair of large and round eyes with clearly defined double eyelids. Without makeup, those natural brows and large eyes made her seem even more young and innocent, resembling a young girl who had not yet come of age. When adorned with makeup, her features became even more exquisite, beautiful with a touch of alluring charm.

After finishing the brows, Pei Yan admired his handiwork and was quite pleased with the result.

He raised his hand to lightly pinch Tao Ti’s soft cheek, and said in a low, husky voice, “Little lazy bug, wake up.”

His gentle and patient coaxing left Linglong and the other palace maids blushing, let alone Tao Ti.

The moment she opened her eyes, she was greeted by a face so stunningly handsome that it seemed almost unreal. Her retinas experienced a tremendous shock of pleasure.

However, even more shocking was the term “little lazy bug” that floated into her ears…

The gentle, tingling voice gently caressed her eardrums and sent an electric current from her forehead all the way down to her tailbone. Her tail… oh no, wait, she didn’t have a tail right now.

If she could transform back into her beast form, she would surely be wagging her tail at him.
