I Became a Guide For My Childhood Friend - Chapter 108.2
Yernia acted as if nothing had happened, but Cassian could see the fear occasionally revealed in her expression. So, using the excuse that he wanted to rest, Cassian brought Yernia to a villa in Pruna. Yernia also showed a subtle sign of relief.
“What exactly happened?”
Cassian felt frustrated. He didn’t know what had happened at Hevid’s, not because she was being evasive, but because she genuinely didn’t know.
He didn’t ask about the clues that Yernia didn’t want to talk about, but he had a vague sense that something shocking had happened to her. However, there was a moment when Yernia woke up screaming, drenched in cold sweat, as if she had been sleep-talking.
“No! No!” Just like now. Her face, which had been peacefully sleeping, wrinkled, and Yernia violently twisted her head before even being fully awake. She sat up abruptly, staring blankly ahead without focus. Unable to distinguish between dream and reality, tears welled up in Yernia’s eyes and they streamed down her cheeks. Did she have another nightmare? It had already been a week since he first saw her like this. Yernia had been tossing and turning in nightmares every single day. When Cassian first witnessed her in that state, it felt like all the blood had drained from his body. Even now, it was the same. Cassian gently pulled Yernia’s trembling shoulders towards him with shaking hands.
“It’s okay. It’s okay now, Yernia.”
Her small body was shaking pitifully. Instead of subsiding, her trembling intensified, and Yernia tightly embraced his back.
“Cassian.”
“Yes, I’m here. What do you have to be so scared of when I’m right here, hmm?”
He felt disgusted by himself because all he could offer her were such words, barely able to help her through her difficulties. In an attempt to control his anger rising towards Diego, that damn bastard, he clenched his jaw as he stroked Yernia’s back gently.
“You keep appearing in my dreams, Cassian.”
The hand patting Yernia’s small back jerked for a moment. It was the first time Yernia had mentioned her dreams today. Yernia raised her face from Cassian’s chest and looked at him. He slowly continued stroking her back, patiently waiting for her to speak further.
‘…People die.’
The words she uttered a while later were so soft that they wouldn’t be audible if one didn’t listen closely. But Cassian heard them clearly.
People die?
‘So that’s why you’re scared?’
He had many questions about who was dying, whether it was a simple dream or a dream about something that happened in reality. However, instead of relieving his own frustration, Casian reassured Yena. Don’t blame yourself. He was grateful for being able to say even this much to her.
“It’s terrifying but it was different from the battlefield. Everyone was just laying there, all dead, but our eyes met.”
“…”
Cassian finally realized that that dream wasn’t just a simple one. Yernia’s entire body trembled, starting from the arms that tightly embraced him. If it was just a dream, Yernia wouldn’t be so afraid of it. What on earth was tormenting her? He had glimpsed only a tiny fraction of what Yernia had experienced but he couldn’t speak lightly of it because he didn’t know exactly what had happened.
“It’s just a nightmare. Yernia. We’ve returned, and I’m here by your side so, don’t be scared. Just think about us. Only us. Don’t think about anything else. I’ll take care of everything.”

“Joseph!” The Lecardo mansion’s butler’s face turned pale as he anxiously waited for Cassian’s aide, Joseph. Joseph chuckled, finding it awkward to meet the old man’s twinkling eyes.
“HAHAHA. Good morning. Well, not really.”
“I’ve been waiting for you anxiously since yesterday. I was worried unnecessary rumors might spread, but the Duke just told me to leave it be. It was torturous.”
Joseph smiled as if mimicking Cassian, who had handled his duties without a break. Like Joseph, the butler seemed sleep-deprived, as if he had been kept awake by the heavy burden of the work left by the Hevid’s. Both of them had served as the pre-and post-marital assistants of the couple living in Lecardo’s mansion. When they faced each other wearily, they burst into laughter.
“It seems you’re in the same boat as me, Joseph.”
“Well, yes. That’s always the case for me.”
“But at least you don’t barge in recklessly. I was worried about what to do if that happened.”
“They are nobles who value etiquette, after all. Of course, their pride must have been hurt, though.”
Joseph hadn’t been able to visit Lecardo’s mansion for a few days due to the tasks assigned by his superior, Cassian. The tasks he had been given were quite troublesome.
“I heard this is the project that’s being pursued these days. Look into it and meet the investors.”
Marquis Lecardo often acquired such information through Joseph, and for some reason, he personally took action this time. That meant this matter required attention.
“What should I do when I meet them?”
“Well, try doing the job once or twice. We need to recover the investment. If they refuse, tell them I’ll introduce them to a new investment opportunity. There are many people who want to make connections with me on this occasion.”
