I Became a Guide For My Childhood Friend - Chapter 112.1
Unfortunately, due to playing around with Cassian a while ago, they ended up throwing away the dough they prepared. So, the three of them would have to make their respective portions of dough once again. Well, to be precise, it wasn’t that they get along well, but it just seemed like a playful atmosphere. She treated Cassian, who kept interfering with making cookies as if he was invisible and took care of Juliet more. Yernia felt sorry and embarrassed for leaving Juliet alone when she was their guest. Looking at the current situation, she probably wouldn’t believe it, but the person who suggested making cookies first was unexpectedly Cassian. After having enough of Juliet’s chatter, he suddenly suggested making cookies together. At first, Yernia was suspicious of Cassian’s proposal and hesitated, but she thought it might be fun, so she accepted.
“I have something to tell you. Shall we go to our cozy and quiet room?”
Just when she thought it would be quiet for a moment, Cassian couldn’t resist playing tricks with her again.
“Stop playing tricks, Cassian. I won’t fall for it. Go away.”
“I really have something to say. It’s something you’ll like. Aren’t you curious?”
“Who knows if you’re trying to deceive me? No.”
“You’ve become really firm nowadays. And more sensitive. It was better when you weren’t.”
“Juliet, take a shot at this.”
Yernia set up an invisible wall between herself and Cassian and exchanged the cookie cutters she and Juliet had been using. They were shaped like a rabbit and a dog. Cassian pointed to the two cutters with his fingertips and said, “These things resemble you.”
Yernia didn’t fall for that remark. Nevertheless, Cassian persisted, leaning his chin on Yernia’s shoulder.
“Are you serious? Will you be mad if I do it?” Juliet said.
“Don’t get mad. It’s something you’ll like too.”
Yernia was starting to get confused about whether she was making cookies with her husband or with the girl. It had always been like that, but Cassian, who kept teasing even when others were around, felt particularly burdensome today.
“What is it, Cassian?”
It wasn’t just a simple trick. There was something vaguely sincere about it. Cassian acted as if he had something to say, making Yernia curious. Was there something he wanted to tell her?
“The Marquis and the Marchioness will arrive tomorrow.”
“What? Our parents?”
“Yes. I invited them. They said they wanted to see you and would come right away.”
“Really? When? Why didn’t you tell me?”
Living a life with no boundaries between day and night due to nightmares, Yernia didn’t have the luxury to think about anything other than the immediate reality so she hadn’t even considered her parents. Whether she should go or if she couldn’t go herself, she could just call them.
“They would’ve chased me away if they saw you struggling. How dare I invite them? I don’t want to get divorced.”
“I’m… fine.”
“If you showed your sleepless and exhausted face, they wouldn’t be thrilled. They would be all worried.”
“Really?”
Yernia couldn’t be completely honest about her feelings. Especially when she was struggling and in pain, she had a bad habit of just repeating that she was okay without looking deeply into her own emotions. Cassian pinched Yena’s cheek apologetically.
“Yes. I almost wanted you to get angry at me instead.”
“I’m sor——-”
“I’m not trying to receive an apology from you and you don’t have anything to apologize for. I’m your husband. It’s only natural.”
Yernia heard him say countless times that he was her husband, but today, it felt different. We really had become a family after being childhood friends. Her heart felt ticklish in a good way.
“Do you think I did well?”
“I’ll let you know later.”
At first glance, Yernia looked pleased. Cassian burst into laughter at her unabashed happiness and the meaning behind Juliet’s gesture, and then he stopped.
“What do you mean you’ll let me know later? I can’t figure it out.”
“Like this.”
While Juliet turned her head to sneeze after accidentally inhaling flour, Yernia pecked Casian’s cheek. It wasn’t a reward for what he did, but she found it a little cute that he was wearing an apron. Cassian blinked and looked up at the ceiling. His strong collarbone seemed to sink slowly and solidly.
“You always test my patience.”
“Let’s make cookies.”
Juliet, who had become familiar with Yernia and Cassian’s affectionate gestures, looked at them with nonchalance. Seeing their affectionate display made her feel a little envious. She wanted a marriage like that too but then Juliet thought about her parents and shook her head.
“What were you two before getting married?”
“We were friends. We knew each other and hung out since we were young.”
