I Became the Monster's Bride - Chapter 191
Extra. The Story Beyond. (5)
Roelin looked at the children with their eyes twinkling as if they wanted a compliment from her.
A pair of children who resembled herself as well as Kergel.
What the children had said before.
All of that was just like saying one particular thing.
“Then…… Do you know who your father is?”
“I know! A stupid idiot!”
The girl responded quickly to Roelin’s question. Then, the boy shook his head and retorted at once.
“He’s not an idiot. He’s just weak.”
“To be weak is just like being an idiot.”
But he refuted again as if he could not support the girl’s statement.
“A stupid idiot.”
“No. He’s just weak.”
“That’s because he’s plain stupid.”
“Dad is just powerless and weak.”
As she was about to watch the children arguing, the two suddenly turned their heads and instantly asked Roelin a question.
“What do you think, Mom? Is Dad a stupid idiot? Or is he just weak?”
“Yes?”
“Is he an idiot?”
“Is he weak?”
“……Alas, well.”
‘I’m sorry, Kergel. But it’s kind of hard to say no when the kids are looking at me with such expectations.’
Roelin, who was unable to confirm or deny the words of those children, apologized inwardly to Kergel, who had already become both an idiot and a weak man.
Even so, the corners of her mouth began to rise wildly.
She was aware that the situation had been absolutely absurd and odd, but she knew that it could be just a dream and she couldn’t stop her excitement and elation.
Children.
So, these two children in front of her right now were herself and Kergel’s own children.
The children were so lovely that it became regrettable that she would not be able to see them once she woke up from her dream.
“Hmm. Even if Mom doesn’t answer us properly, we can just look at him ourselves later.”
“Yes.”
“Good! Then, will our match be decided then?”
“Okay.”
It seemed that the girl would be leading the way while the boy simply followed her meekly.
Roelin looked at the children with a smile on her face. Then, she saw the girl look back at Roelin and put on a proud expression.
“And don’t worry, Mom. Whether Daddy is an idiot or weak, I will still protect Mom and Dad.”
“Me too! me too!”
At the girl’s triumphant words, the boy jumped up and raised his hand as well. Then, she made a face as if the boy was just utterly pitiable and continued her words.
“I am stronger than you. I also ate more power. Until I thought that I was going to die because of being so full.”
“I ate a lot too. I just ate a lot to save Dad.”
“Okay, fine. We both ate a lot.”
The girl immediately nodded her head in agreement. At that moment, Roelin’s expression changed quite strangely.
“Did you eat the power?”
“Huh. Have you forgotten already, Mom? We just ate Dad’s power before.”
“……”
“That’s why we grew up so fast. Of course, we are yet to meet Mother outside in person, though. You still have to wait a few more months. But I already want to see you soon!”
“So, we sneaked into Mom’s dreams. That’s why we have to leave soon.”
The boy eventually crept in on her girl’s words.
“Dream…… It’s a dream, but isn’t it only a dream?”
“Huh? It is a dream, but what’s not a dream actually?”
The girl blinked. The other one also tilted his head in response.
But Roelin couldn’t answer her children’s questions as she was already in tears.
Her heart swelled. An inexpressible feeling had filled her heart and she became utterly speechless.
“But Mom, when are you going to name us?”
“……soon. Dad is also thinking about it right now.”
“That stupid idiot Dad?”
The girl asked while wrinkling her face. Roelin smiled as she rolled her teary eyes back before nodding her head.
“Yes. Stupid Dad will give you a nice name.”
“Hehe.”
“Hehe.”
The children looked at each other and laughed as if they were all excited. Roelin laughed out loud just like she had been infected by children’s laughter as well.
Just then, the surrounding landscape began to blur out.
It was as if she had dipped a painted picture straight into water.
“……!”
Roelin freaked out and tried to catch her children immediately. But the children grinned at her nonchalantly before they hugged her tightly.
It seemed that the children had a smell of such savory milk.
“Mom, see you later. I will miss you a lot, but I will wait patiently.”
“Me too.”
“……okay. I’ll wait too. Until the day you’ll finally come to us.”
Roelin softly held her two children in a tight embrace.
* * *
“Are you awake now? You must have been very tired. Since you, who never usually sleep until late, are still sleeping at this hour.”
“……”
Roelin turned her head to the side as she looked at him with that sweet voice in her ear. Kergel had seated on a small table beside the bed and he looked at her while smiling gently at her.
‘Come to think of it, those eyes and lips look alike a lot.’
It was not just the color of the hair or eye that resembled them…
“Why are you looking at me like that? Did you put anything on my face?”
Maybe it was because she had been staring at him too blindly? Kergel rubbed his chin and laughed awkwardly. Then, he picked up the kettle which was on the stove and poured her some warm water before he came over to her.
“Here, some water.”
“Thank you.”
Roelin took the cup from him and expressed her gratitude. She then moved her fingers as if she was enjoying the warmth that filled her hands.
“Did you have a good dream?”
“……why?”
“Because your face is brighter than usual.”
Kergel replied while caressing her cheek. Roelin gently pushed his hand away and said in an embarrassed tone.
“I haven’t even washed yet.”
“But why does your face shine like this? After you have your wash, it will be so dazzling that I can’t even look at it.”
Kergel cracked a joke and gave her a light kiss. Roelin pushed him away once more before she turned around.
“What are you doing? Really! How about breakfast?”
“I haven’t eaten yet since I was waiting to eat with you once you wake up. And…… I was actually trying to name our child.”
After answering Roelin’s question, he went over to the table where he had been sitting just a moment ago and took the paper that was right on top of it.
“I’ve given a thought to a few names. As you’ve said before, for both; the names of a boy and a girl. I think I’d prefer Aiden if it’s a boy or Veronica if it’s a girl. What do you think?”
“Aiden, Veronica… Both are very good.”
Roelin murmured as she looked over the paper that he handed to her. He had been thinking about it for quite a while, but the paper was already full of names.
