I Didn’t Want To Be the Prince’s Fiancée, so I Followed the Heavenly Voice - Chapter 1.3
“Mylene has her own set of friends.”
“I’m single. I feel empty being single,” said member A.
“What’s so sad about the three of us going to a festival,” said the deputy captain.
“Because we don’t have any women to accompany us, I guess.”
In fact, that was true, but sad.
“Speaking of which,” the deputy captain opened his mouth. “I saw something terrible earlier.”
“What do you mean terrible?”
Martin’s brows creased as he asked.
“Yeah,” the deputy captain said it was a secret, and so the three disheveled men huddled together.
“A smiling Captain Edgar…”
A cold sweat ran down their backs.
“That’s scary. Um, you think Edgar smiles?”
Martin questioned in response.
“Yes. And he had a very nice woman with him. Captain Edgar was walking hand in hand with her and smiling. Isn’t that scary?”
The deputy captain’s confession sent a chill down their spines, and they couldn’t stop it. Was that what they call chills?
“I get goosebumps just thinking about it.”
Martin said and gulped down a cold drink he had bought from a stall. Unfortunately, it was not alcohol.
Actually, these three people were assigned a task since they had no partner or family to accompany them to the festival. They were tasked to patrol the festival, a job that made them both happy and sad.
“Captain, speak of the devil. Isn’t that who we’re talking about?”
Member A whispered, “Isn’t that Captain Edgar?” He gently pointed his finger at him to escape notice.
Martin turned around, following the finger of his subordinate.
There was Edgar, walking happily. He might be wearing plain clothes, but he was definitely Edgar. Edgar, the Ice Age knight, who was rumored to freeze those who meet his eyes head on.
“It’s definitely Edgar.”
“You see, there’s a woman next to him. They’re holding hands, right?”
The deputy captain said without pause. Edgar was holding hands with the person beside and talking to her. And from time to time, he smiled.
“Hic!”
Someone almost screamed but swallowed it.
“Are you okay, Captain? Captain Edgar’s smile floored you, didn’t it?”
“Thump-thump-thump, I’m fine.”
Martin had noticed. The woman walking next to Edgar was his sister, Mylene. There was no doubt it was Mylene.
Both the deputy captain and member A probably failed to recognize her because she was wearing a different outfit from what she usually wore as an apprentice knight. But he was her elder brother. He could tell his sister in casual clothes at a glance.

The National Foundation Day was over, and the vacation of the Third and Fifth Divisions came to an end. At the end of the vacation, rumors about Captain Edgar’s smile abounded.
Apparently, a number of knights witnessed Edgar happily walking hand in hand with a woman on the National Day. And everyone seemed stunned in place.
“Hey, Edgar,” Robbie, the captain of the Fourth Division, cheerfully called out to the grumpy Edgar.
It was lunch break, and he came to the cafeteria to have a meal. Now that he found the rumored Edgar there, he must ask him of that interesting and amusing episode. Robbie thought to himself.
“What?”
Edgar gave Robbie a cold stare that seemed to freeze what he set his eyes on.
“You’re even more grumpy than usual.”
Robbie placed the tray in his hand on the table and sat across from Edgar.
“It’s too noisy around here.”
“You didn’t get to see her, have you?”
Robbie’s words earned another glare from. “I bet I hit the bull’s eye.”
He made an excuse, “She’s too busy and doesn’t have spare time.” In fact, Mylene was still a student, an apprentice knight. She has classes and trainings. And for some reason, Martin kept sticking around.
“So, who are we dealing with?”
Robbie was curious.
“I wouldn’t tell you, you asshole.”
“Of course you won’t. I’m interested in the woman who made this Ice Age knight fall in love with her. I hear she’s a beautiful girl.
“They don’t even resemble each other.”
“With who?”
Edgar didn’t bother to respond to that quip.
“All right, I won’t ask about her. So, how far have you gotten?”
“I just invited her to the National Foundation Day.”
“I mean, how far have you progressed with her?”
“I asked for her hand in marriage through her father.”
Robbie almost choked on the bread he had been eating.
“You’ve gone too far!”
“She’s the woman of my dreams. If I don’t hurry, another man will take her.”
As for Robbie, he couldn’t help but be curious about the girl who made Edgar say that much.
Then Duke Sirac, the Knight Commander, arrived.
“Edgar, I’m sorry to bother you while you’re eating, but I’d like you to come to the Commander’s office after today’s training. Oh, I’ll leave the witness to Robbie. Both of you, come to the Commander’s office after the training.”
That was all he said and left.
“What did you do to the Commander?” whispered Robbie.
“Well, I proposed marriage,” replied Edgar.
“To the Commander?”
“Of course not. The Lord Commander’s daughter.”
“What? You mean Martin’s sister? That gorilla’s.”
“You’re a rude pain in the ass. Don’t be there.”
“No, I’ll be there because the Commander asked me to. I want to see the gorilla’s sister.”
Edgar glared at him anew.

An engagement ceremony begins with an exchange of names.
“I’m sorry I’m late.” When Mylene entered the Commander’s office, she found her father, Edgar, and someone she had seen before but did not know the name of, sitting there. Edgar and the stranger whose name she didn’t know were sitting side by side, across from her father.
“Mylene,” her father greeted her and waved his hand for her to sit next to him.
“What’s wrong with you today, Father?”
A stranger to Mylene’s name – Robbie, well – Robbie couldn’t help but be surprised by her appearance.
“Thump-thump-thump, you’re Commander’s daughter?” He could barely hide his discomposure.
“Yes?” Mylene replied.
Edgar could hear Robbie’s muted mumblings, “They don’t have any semblance.”
“Mylene, we should be having this meeting at a proper place, not at this place. I’m sorry I can’t come home due to my busy work schedule. Edgar has asked me for your hand in marriage. Am I correct in assuming that you two are on such good terms?”
What kind of good terms do you mean? Mylene thought. But then she remembered what happened on the way back from the National Festival and blushed.
On the way home from the National Festival, Mylene walked side by side with Edgar. There were no crowds, and they walked quietly along the road leading to the mansion. When they were about to part, Edgar took her hand and spoke.
“It may surprise you to hear me say this all of a sudden,” the iron-faced man said. Where did his smile disappear to? Or was this his true self? No, was he just nervous?
“I want you to go out with me on the premise of marriage.”
So was this the result? The quickest way was to get engaged. And at times like this, the Heavenly Voice was quiet. No, it’s been quiet lately.
“Yes,” Mylene looked down and confirmed to her father. She couldn’t look straight at Edgar because her face was already burning.
“Then, we will now proceed with the engagement ceremony. Witness, Robbie Bode.”
Oh, so his name is Robbie, Mylene thought.
After completing the exchange of names between Edgar and Mylene, the two were officially engaged to each other.
Today, both their hair was tied up with the matching braided string from that time.
(Congratulations, Mylene)
Mylene heard the quiet Heavenly Voice.
Rumors spread quickly, and the happy tale of the Ice Age knight and the Commander’s daughter became known to everyone in the Order.
However, everyone seemed to have some misconceptions about the appearance of the Commander’s daughter, and when Edgar walked alongside Mylene, he was immediately accused of cheating on her.
Mylene tilted her head and wondered why, but Edgar didn’t dare to say.

Unfortunately, the first prince’s fiancée has not been decided yet, probably because Mylene, who was supposed to be the first prince’s fiancée, has become the fiancée of the captain of the Third Division.
Normally, at this time of the year, Shannon, the daughter of a commoner, or as the Heavenly Voice called her, the heroine, would have a dramatic encounter with the prince. Unfortunately, there was no such thing.
Mylene wondered.
Shannon was the girl that Martin had brought with him to marry. Their parents, or rather their mother, was delighted. Shannon was a commoner’s daughter, but she was one of the top students in the Magic Department. The engagement ceremony was soon completed.
Later, Mylene asked Shannon how they met. She said that a classmate pushed her, and she had fallen out of the window of the school building, but Martin, who happened to be passing by, caught her.
(Actually, the person who pushed her was supposed to be you,) said the Heavenly Voice.
Eh? Mylene thought.
The story of their encounter continued. From Shannon’s point of view, Martin was like a bear. She described him as big and scary, but he made her feel safe, like a stuffed bear.
Mylene’s mother agreed with her. Her opinion coincided with her mother’s view of her father, that was why the two who vowed to accompany a bear and a gorilla were excited.
(I’m glad all of you are happy,) said the Heavenly Voice.
(Well, I think my time is up here.)
What? Why? I’ll miss you. Mylene whispered in her consciousness.
(Because I’m here to make everyone happy. If you and Shannon are happy, then I’m done. I’ll be gone soon.)
So can’t I talk to you anymore?
(But I’m always watching over you.)
Thank you, Heavenly Voice. Because of you, I met Edgar too.
(Thank you, Mylene. I wish you a lifetime of happiness. Thanks to you, I was able to capture Martin on the back route.)
Mylene couldn’t understand the last word.
Afterward, Mylene could no longer hear the Heavenly Voice.
Still, it was no doubt thanks to the Heavenly Voice that Mylene was able to spend happy times with Edgar, and Martin was able to meet Shannon.
