I Left the Time-limited Villainous Duke Without Saving Him - Chapter 38.2
Her steps were dangerous to go for a walk without an attendant. Her features are so similar that it could be Lady Veronica who came from the distant future.
It must have been Duke Mattia’s mother, who was said to be suffering from Alzheimer’s, Mattia’s Elder Madam.
‘I think she came out alone somehow.’
I couldn’t let an old person who was not in a good condition to wander alone. I ran over and took her hand.
“Grandma, I lost my way.”
“Huh?”
“Please take me home.”
The old lady’s faded eyes turned to me. It was obvious that she was looking into who I was. Then, when she saw the golden key in my hand, she clapped her hands softly.
“I see.”
Then she put the string from the key around my neck.
She kept the key hidden inside my clothes and tidied it up with a proud smile.
“You must never lose it, child. Got it?”
“Yees. thank you.”
I don’t know what it is, but I’ll pretend to take it and give it back when I run into someone from the Mattia family later. I thought so, and when I replied gallantly, the old lady’s bright smile appeared on her face.
“Oh, you are such a good child. You answer well.”
And I supported the Elder Madam, we went somewhere. My role is over when I explain to whomever I run into that this old lady is the mother of Duke Mattia.
We walked around Mattia’s garden, where flowers were in full bloom even in the middle of winter. I was startled when the old lady suddenly stopped, and she called out to me.
“My son!”
Your son? He’s fighting with your granddaughters at the mansion right now.
“Child, have you seen my son? He’s this tall and he slacks off every day.”
When the old lady looked for a child shorter than me with such a serious face, I smiled slightly.
The first feature she thought of when looking for the child was neither blue hair nor drooping eyes, but the slouching. I had a rough idea of what kind of parenting she had when she was young.
I answered, pointing to the mansion to lead her into it.
“Ah, the boy who slacks every day? Well…… he went that way?”
“Oh my, where?”
I successfully led the old lady into the mansion. As I entered the cool interior where the winter sunlight did not reach, I heard a welcome voice.
“Here you are, Miss Betty!”
It was the maid who guided me to the bathroom and then left me behind. Her face was worried, as if she, too, had been searching for me. Then she was even more surprised to find the old lady next to me.
“Elder Madam! I will take you this way.”
“Who are you?”
“I am Lady Veronica’s parlor maid, Julie.”
“Vero…… nica?”
The old lady looked puzzled at the story she didn’t know. Apparently, her memory stopped when her son was a very small boy.
Julie naturally turned around and escorted the old lady upstairs.
“Come this way…… Madam, I will help you.”
Carefully taking over the old lady from me, she spat out apologies rapidly and at the same time helped the old lady up the stairs.
“I’m so sorry, Miss Betty. Miss Victoria sent someone to our parlor to disturb us. I left for a while because I’m dealing with that……. I really, really didn’t expect Miss Betty would come out so soon. Were you scared?”
“No. The mansion is so pretty that I even went to the garden while looking around. Did you have a hard time finding me? I should have stayed there, but I’m sorry I wandered around on my own.”
When I responded with a gentle apology to alleviate her concerns, the maid turned to me. I turned her attention back to the old lady.
“Be careful.”
From the looks of things, Julie seemed to have a rough idea of what had been going on.
After barely climbing up to the second floor, I asked about the thing I was curious about.
“Anyway, so what happened to the person Lady Victoria sent? Did you kick her out?”
“The first Miss scolded her very much. The maid is called Donna, and she is the second Miss’ favorite. She’s very arrogant.”
As soon as I nudged the topic, Julie excitedly explained.
The cheerful servants were usually light-mouthed and frivolous. It’s a phenomenon that happens naturally when they’re under a generous and laid-back owner like Duke Mattia.
“Then, the Second Miss came directly to Miss Veronica’s parlor. Seriously, the Misses are getting more and more mischievous…… I’m out of my mind all day from morning. Anyway, I came out, running away with the excuse that I was looking for Miss Betty. If the Madam returns, all three of them will be scolded.”
Three? Oh, by the way, Vincent was there too.
‘Vincent didn’t do anything wrong, so it would be a bit unfair if he got scolded with the older sisters.’
I thought of the dumb-faced Lord Vincent I saw at the flower fairy ball. He was such a dumb and naive child that I wondered if he was the son of a high-ranking noble. Even in the novel, he is afraid of his fearsome older sisters and couldn’t straighten his shoulders properly.
