My Groom Ran Away - Chapter 38.3
Lin Heng Building, President’s Office.
Qian Fan had taken ten days of vacation, but in the end he couldn’t afford to use up all of his vacation and returned early to the office.
In order to show his brother love, he took the elevator to the top floor after he finished his work and gave Cheng Yuelin the gift he bought on vacation. But what Qian Fan did not expect that even though he had come up to deliver the gift with good intentions, the man did not even give him a single glance.
Instead, the other person was carefully wiping a shiny wedding ring on his finger.
“Okay. I get it. Stop shining it! The shine on that ring will soon be worn off by you.”
Qian Fan finally could not stand it anymore and spoke sarcastically.
“Have you seen a ring that doesn’t need to be polished?” Cheng Yuelin gave him a dismissive glance and continued. “It’s timeless, understand?”
Qian fan bit his lip. “Since you had such a treasure, why didn’t you wear it earlier.”
After all, with Cheng Yuelin’s annoying personality, if he had a wedding ring then he would have worn it immediately to show it off.
Cheng Yuelin’s motions paused and he didn’t reply. But he pressed down on a button on the desk.
Two minutes later, Bai Bo pushed open the door and walked in. “Boss, did you call me?”
“Yes, take that painting down. During the next charity party send it off to be auctioned.”
Cheng Yuelin pointed at the painting behind him. It was a painting that he had bought last year. He quite liked it and had hung it in his office’s most eye-catching spot.
Qian Fan knew that the price of this painting was not low so he couldn’t help but mutter: “Its a perfectly fine painting, why are you getting rid of it?”
Bai Bo understood and when he took the painting he explained: “Mr. Qian, the boss and madam took some wedding photos recently.”
As an assistant, Bai Bo can be considered someone who could understand his boss easily. So he of course understood what his boss wanted. Now that he had wedding photos, what use is such a painting?
“You want to hang wedding photos in your office?”
Qian Fan gave a scornful glance at the man in front of him.
Cheng Yuelin opened the document that Bai Bo brought in and signed his name and asked: “I can’t?”
Qian Fan: “…”
Fine! Of course it’s fine! Who is better than you!
Meetings were held downstairs and other than him and Bai Bo no one would come up here. Otherwise other people would be blinded by your wedding photos.
As he was already used to this man’s antics, Qian Fan did not find it strange so he changed the topic. “That’s right, we said we’re going to have an event this weekend. How about we go to your place?”
“Not suitable.”
“What do you mean not suitable? You won’t bring sister-in-law over is okay. But now you won’t let us come over? Your house is always empty. So we’ll give you a good housewarming. Don’t worry, we already have suitable gifts.”
Cheng Yuelin frowned and said. “It is not about the gifts.”
“Then what is the problem?”
“Not your business. Why should I tell you?”
After signing the document, the man closed it and smoothly stood up. Then he slowly pulled out his phone and got ready to leave.
“Why are you leaving!”
The man paused and lightly tapped on the watch on his wrist and said: “It is time to pick someone up.”
After he finished speaking he turned and walked towards the door. Before he took too many steps, he turned around.
Qian Fan thought he suddenly developed a conscience and smiled as he asked. “What is it? Can we come to your house?”
Cheng Yuelin raised his eyebrows and said: “Since you aren’t taking the vacation, I’m afraid you’ll have overtime.”
Qian Fan: “…”

After meeting with Qin Jue and returning to the office, it was almost time to leave work.
However Ruan Zhiyin did not receive the usual WeChat messages sent by Cheng Yuelin today.
She was a little surprised but thinking that it should be about time that he arrived, she still finished up her work, shut down her computer and took the elevator down to P1.
As expected, the Bentley was parked in its usual spot.
After opening the door and putting down her bag. Ruan Zhiyin familiarly turned to look at the man next to her and asked: “The fridge should still have some beef. Tonight let’s cook it with some tomatoes?”
“Hmm.” The man gave a neutral response.
Ruan Zhiyin turned her head to look at him. She could tell that his attitude today was a little odd. Even if you discounted the fact that he did not send her his normal WeChat message, his current attitude was really like… strangely cold.
She was a bit puzzled so she asked again. “You do not like stir fried tomatoes and beef?”
Even if he had preferences for particular foods, he had never been picky before.
The man calmly replied. “No.”
Then he looked back with a complex gaze and readjusted his seat before not saying much.
The driver was still sitting in the front so Ruan Zhiyin paused and decided to ask after they got home.
The silent atmosphere lasted the entire way home.
After getting back, Cheng Yuelin continued his silence after they got in and change his shoes.
Ruan Zhiyin followed him into the living room and measured his expression before finally asking. “What’s wrong?”
“What do you think?” Cheng Yuelin put down the necktie he had half untied, with the top two buttons of his shirt popped before he raised an eyebrow at her.
Ruan Zhiyin tentatively asked. “Did you run into something that made you unhappy?”
Cheng Yuelin thought about the scene he saw in the cafe he passed by just now. He expressionlessly made a fist.
Then he walked to the sofa and sat down and expressionlessly said. “Next door is raising two cats, did you know?”
Cheng Yuelin was talking about the two pet cats from their neighbors. Since the gym in the second floor had an open balcony, the two cats would often saunter over to sunbathe.
Ruan Zhiyin nodded. “I know.”
“The black cat has been ignoring the white one recently.” The man’s voice was calm as he narrated.
Ruan Zhiyin forcefully pulled the corner of her lips down as they started to slip into a smile. “Cheng Yuelin, they are not called black cat and white cat. They are Coffee and Milk.”
After speaking she received an unamused gaze from the man and sighed and asked: “What are you trying to express?”
“Their owner said that every time he feeds them, the white cat will eat the food in his bowl and then he will look at the black cat’s bowl.” The man lightly laughed and continued and said. “It is called… being of two minds.”
Ruan Zhiyin suspiciously raised an eyebrow and nodded. “Milk’s habit is definitely not good. I did not think that Coffee would be so miserable.” “But anyways, why are you so concerned about our neighbor’s cats?”
“Ruan Yingying, if the white cat wants to get along with the black cat again, shouldn’t it…”
The man’s words paused and then he continued and looked at her and said. “coax him?”
