Genesis (7)
He probably shouldn’t have gotten any closer than he had to.
Even though Chizuru couldn’t see it, Lukrov’s alpha traits were dangerously aggressive, asserting his own sexual ability.
However, he couldn’t just ignore Chizuru, who turned away somewhat hurt and escaped his eyes…
Lukrov slowly approached Chizuru, stepping on the dead leaves that covered the ground.
“Chizuru.”
He called out her name.
Although it was only a series of sounds, the mere thought of uttering this name made his skin and muscles tense. When this name was involved, whether he liked it or not, Lukrov was tossed left and right.
And he knew it–
Now, Chizuru did something that she shouldn’t have done. She turned her back to him, shook her head, and tried to run away in the wrong direction.
Before he knew it, he was already holding on to Chizuru’s arm.
“Lu…krov, that……”
“Where do you think you’re going?” A faint voice escaped from the back of his throat. “Don’t leave me. What if something happens to you?”
Chizuru looked back at Lukrov with eyes filled with a bit of anger.
Anger?
“Let go of me. I’m not going anywhere.”
Lukrov grabbed her arm somewhat roughly, causing the dead branch she had just picked up to fall to the ground in pieces. But it didn’t matter.
“It didn’t look like it.”
Lukrov remarked.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean that you look like you’re trying to get away from me, and it’s not because you’re looking for some dead branches.”
Chizuru gulped as if he had hit the nail on the head.
However, she was not strong enough to resist the knight, who was considered the best in the country.
“It hurts so….. Lukrov. Please……”
At the shaky whisper, Lukrov loosened his grip.
However, he could not free her completely.
Lukrov was wearing leather gloves, but Chizuru was not wearing any. Her hands were so delicate that if he gripped them too tightly, he might break them.
He didn’t want to see her soft hands harmed by his own or by a dead branch.
Lukrov took off his gloves, almost unconsciously.
Then, somewhat bluntly, he handed the gloves to Chizuru.
“What?”
“Put them on.”
“Put them on…?”
“Hands.”
“Why?
“So you won’t get scratches on your hands.”
“Oh…..”
After an awkward exchange of words, Lukrov succeeded in forcing the glove onto Chizuru.
She looked at the glove for a while, wavering as if she could not hold it.
“It’s a lot thicker than it looks. They seem warm.”
The anger that had been lurking in her face and voice was gone, and she whispered in her usual calm tone.
“Will you put it on or not?”
“Yes, I will. Just a second.”
After some hesitation, as if she didn’t know how to do it, Chizuru put on Lukrov’s gloves.
Perhaps her appearance seemed ridiculous. It was almost as if the glove was wearing Chizuru rather than Chizuru wearing the glove.
However, Lukrov found it oddly satisfying.
Chizuru was wearing his personal item, which was a feeling that was different from direct contact. A more complex and more profound lust overflowed from the depths of his body.
It was a nasty tendency.
This time, Lukrov turned his back on Chizuru.
“Keep it on. I’ll look there; you keep looking around.”
He instructed as he averted his eyes from Chizuru.
In reality, Chizuru was not under Lukrov’s command. Lukrov’s role was to protect Chizuru and lead her to the evil dragon. Originally, Chizuru should have been the one to command Lukrov!
But Chizuru had never been capable of such arrogance to order people around.
Even now.
She listened and obeyed Lukrov’s orders, which were somewhat unreasonable and could change on a whim.
This charade had to end soon.
Lukrov began to pick up the dead branches silently, but he noticed that Chizuru was not moving after a while. Instead, he felt an intense, clinging gaze behind him.
He stopped and slowly turned around.
His eyes met with Chizuru’s, who was staring at him intensely.
Lukrov’s eyes narrowed in warning.
Chizuru flinched for a moment, but when Lukrov didn’t say anything further, her expression slowly relaxed as if she was relieved.
“Hey, Lukrov, can I ask you something personal?”
Personal?
You can’t do that, Chizuru. Damn it. The ‘personal’ part of me is now raging to get inside the woman wearing my gloves.
“What is it?”
In a muffled, growling voice, Lukrov replied.
“Doesn’t that chainmail hurt?”
Lukrov almost let out a growl like a wild animal that had been hit by an arrow.
“What?”
“Well, it’s called chainmail, isn’t it? It’s like a shiny iron jacket. The gloves were warm, so I thought maybe they might actually be very warm. I’ve always thought it would hurt.”
“…………”
Did I do something to be cursed by the gods?
What the heck is this sweet hell?
Lukrov looked up at the evening sky to catch his breath. A bird returning to its nest crossed the orange sky as if to mock him. Chizuru was still staring at Lukrov with anticipation in her eyes.
What is this feeling that floods my heart?
What is this heat?
This ruin and….. this new breath of air that blows simultaneously.
“Someday.”
Lukrov answered calmly.
“Now, you can gather up the dead branches as quickly as you can. The sun will be setting soon.”
Chizuru’s shoulders slumped in disappointment, but it was only for a short time. She quickly regained her composure, gave an innocent reply, and went back to work.
Someday.
Yes, someday.
For you, someday.
Everything.
* * * *
Lukrov looked down at the chainmail he had been wearing.
Even though it was nothing special, it still held her memories that haunted him at every moment.
Chainmail. Gloves. Armor. A sword. All of them held memories of Chizuru. That was why Lukrov didn’t want to have anything more than what he needed. These things were unique to him…..
“Lukrov-sama? This is Arde. You wanted to see me?”
The knock on the door was accompanied by the sound of Arde’s voice.
He looked up as he was pulled back to reality. Perhaps this was the reality. For Lukrov, the boundary between the two was already ambiguous.
“Come in,” He said in a dry tone.
Arde entered immediately, bending her knees lightly and bowing her head. She was a well-trained maid.
“Prepare the room next door…… I’ll be back in a few days.”
There was a hidden meaning in Lukrov’s order.
Arde was probably aware of the true meaning of such an order and how futile of a hope it was.
But the maid did not speak in a critical manner. She just nodded slowly, bowed again, and left the room.
When he heard the door close, Lukrov took a deep breath.
Loneliness aches his lungs.
Memories overflowed from his body and tumbled to his feet, making him feel like crawling on the floor to collect them and retrieve them.
He knew by now that there was nothing he could do about it.
Lukrov took his helmet and left the bedroom.
Searching for his farthest lover, whom he would never see again.
