Speak Money Not Love with the Master - Chapter 5
The Luo Chengyu that Ye Wei was familiar with was no different from how he appeared in everyone’s eyes. Stiff, cold, emotionless, and dull. Other than having been able to feel his fiery passion in bed, he usually didn’t spare even a single word of nonsense.
This sentence, today, rendered her speechless.
Ye Wei thought inside her heart: She didn’t want to cut off their relationship. It wasn’t easy for her to spend so many years achieving these results. She didn’t want it to collapse from just one incident. But, she couldn’t exactly voice that out. If she was too obvious about setting clear boundaries, wasn’t that the same as slapping Master Luo in the face? Although the hearts of the two parties were both plain obvious, their relationship wasn’t the usual kind.
“I still want to live well. I don’t want to be ripped apart by others’ hands.”
Whether Luo Chengyu was pleased with this, she couldn’t know, as he didn’t question her about it again.
“On the matter about choosing the role for <The Seamen>, how did you come to know about it?” He wasn’t the sort of person who would concern himself with something that had nothing to do with him. She didn’t think he even paid attention to his own schedule or tendencies.
“You’re one of my people. I’ll naturally give you what I want to give.”
Since childhood, Ye Wei had been independent. She never relied on anyone. What’s more, their relationship was just that of sleeping together. She involuntarily ranted, “What do you mean by your person? I’m an independent individual.”
“En?”
She slapped her forehead. Drinking alcohol had gone to her head today; she couldn’t even zip her mouth. She forced out an awkward laugh, “Thanks, I’m extremely grateful.”
“En.”
Seeing that he didn’t persist in the matter, Ye Wei continued, “Won’t bother your rest. Good night.” Originally she meant to say goodbye but then realized that these two words, ‘good-bye’, would sound too harsh. What if she provoked the Master into a bad mood?
After she hung up, Ye Wei rubbed her temples. She inwardly scolded herself; hold back on the alcohol, don’t botch things up, be cautious of what you say, with that, the future will be bright; study and master your surroundings, then, your prospects will be boundless.
How annoying.
As Luo Chengyu hung up the phone, he walked to the side and set the phone on the tabletop. His eyes fell on the wall, where a cabinet was hung and displayed. Inside was a pair of diamond feather fan earrings. Its colors sparkled under the reflection of the light.
That day, after Ye Wei left, a servant picked this up while tidying up the room. He casually set it aside here but forgot to mention it. She didn’t bring it up, either. She left behind something but wasn’t aware of it?
He couldn’t help but linger over the words she just said, which was for the gossip not to go over to her head and that she was an independent individual. For a moment, his cold, sharp brows slightly rose. He took off his shirt, turned, and walked towards the bathroom.
Where did this piece of rumor about him come from? Whether it was his servants, bodyguards, drivers, or assistants, no one would dare to leak his personal matters. This was the rule of the Luo Family; no one would dare to challenge the regulations.
If that was the case, then there was only one possibility.
The next morning, Luo Chengyu called over the phone.
“Calling so early, the sun hasn’t even come out from the west.” Mother Luo teased him.
“Mom, what did you say to outsiders?”
“What? What do you mean?”
“The incident on that phone call from the other day.”
“Geez boy, would I talk about that to outsiders? Is your mom the kind of loose-tongued woman who would go around announcing her own son’s affairs? But, I did call and ask Zhi’ang. You two have been together longer than with me. I was curious and asked him about it.”
“Okay, I got it.”
“Is something the matter?” Mother Luo asked.
“Nothing.” He said.

In the afternoon, <The Seamen> had a general assembly. When Ye Wei arrived at the company, the front desk secretary told her that she had a gift.
At the lounge, exhibited on the small table, was a large bundle of roses. Gauging it by eye, there were at least 500 of them.
She went over and took out the card. Written on top was: ‘Good morning Wei Wei! By, Xu Zhi’ang.’
Ye Wei casually threw the card towards the flowers. With the rejecting words already in mind, the only thing left to do was to treat it as if she had never seen them.
Little Qiao quickly came in: “Sister, you and Xu Zhi’ang are a hot thing on the searches now.”
She opened Weibo hurriedly. Dedicated people obviously led the topic. The business accounts and news releases had united.
【Ye Wei and Xu Zhi’ang’s relationship becomes a mystery. Late at night, sends a message of congratulations. What does this imply?】
There was a business account that pretended to be in the industry. They responded to a netizen’s question in the comments,【Did Xu Zhi’ang give <The Seamen> role to Ye Wei as a supporting resource?】. This person replied,【En】. This ambiguous word was enough to deliberately cause a fuss in the hearts of people.
For people in the circle of business accounts, this affair certainly wasn’t a secret. One check was all they needed to find out.
At this moment, people had already started spreading it widely by selling how miserable they were.
【Ye Qinglan’s role was already set to be Yuan Lu, but she got cut off because of Ye Wei. Yuan Lu cried at home all night. Her eyes are so swollen.】
It was almost as if she’d crawled out of the network cable (T/N: Probably the same meaning as falling off the chair). Her eyes were swollen? Did she cry a tub’s worth of bathwater?
Ye Wei’s fans did not stay put either. The fans had no way of investigating the matter between her and Xu Zhi’ang. They also couldn’t look too much into it. If it were true, wouldn’t that be slapping themselves in the face? They retorted in the matter about Ye Wei stealing the role.
【Ye Qinglan: Height 170cm, valiant heroine, a cold but beautiful appearance, and her heart is proud but also like fire. Isn’t this Ye Wei? Have you ever thought about what your patriarch of your house’s Ye Qinglan would turn out? Could it just be me who thinks that it’d be a pitiful sight? Haha, a passerby isn’t blind. Your house’s pretty flower vase should just become the mistress of the forest. Don’t come out and poison the eyes of the viewers.】
The opposing side’s fans didn’t waste time in returning the fire. But, unable to refute Yuan Lu’s weak acting skills, they could only attack Ye Wei and Xu Zhi’ang.
【What does your house’s patriarch rely on if not men? Rely on herself? Bah! Without Xu Zhi’ang’s backing, would she be able to obtain Ye Qinglan’s role? Haven’t you guys seen the post that the financial backer of your house’s patriarch sent late at night? Haha, wouldn’t a certain someone have to be called Madam Xu from now on?】
Ye Wei was born out of the working class; nonetheless, she was hardworking and diligent. Her acting skills had improved with each drama, and, after specialized coaching/teaching, she became even more exquisite, with almost no black spots. At most, she set her sights high and acted aloof.
