The Villainess is Three and a Half Years Old - Chapter 70.4
What does acting mean?
And what does debut mean?
Ye Yaya was puzzled deep down, but she didn’t ask further. She adjusted her sitting position, lightly tapping the man’s stomach, and cleared her throat before softly beginning, “Sleep, sleep, my dear baby; Ya Ya will rock you, sleep well; sleep, sleep, my dear baby…”
With each line she sang, Ye Linchuan’s temples would twitch.
Discomfort.
Utter discomfort.
In all his years, Ye Linchuan had never had someone sing a lullaby to him, not even when his parents were alive. But he couldn’t deny the enchanting power of the little girl’s voice. He couldn’t close his eyes all night. The soft, sweet singing made him feel tired, and the rhythmic tapping on his stomach brought about a deep relaxation.
His eyelids trembled, and finally, unable to resist any longer, he fell asleep.
“Rocking in the cradle, sleep well; the night is quiet, dreams are warm…”
The singing gradually stopped. Ye Ya withdrew her hand and, moving lightly, stepped away from him. Confirming that Ye Linchuan had fallen asleep, she left the room quietly, closing the door behind her.

The sun set in the west, and the temperature gradually cooled.
Ye Linchuan’s eyelids lifted halfway, and the twilight gently enveloped the flowers and trees outside the window. His gaze shifted, and the wall clock was nearing eight o’clock.
—It’s eight o’clock.
Eight o’clock…
Ye Linchuan surveyed his surroundings. The empty room, the orange-red sunset slumbering alone in the corner, and there was no one else but him.
Ye Yaya wasn’t here.
That little rascal deliberately pretended he was asleep and then sneaked out!
Ye Linchuan suddenly woke up, jolting from the bed and rushing outside without even putting on his shoes.
“Ye Yatya—!”
He panted, hurriedly searching for that petite figure.
“Dad?”
Ye Linchuan turned his head, meeting Ye Qinghe’s puzzled gaze.
He was taken aback, only then noticing that the children had come home from school.
“Where’s Ye Yaya?”
“Ye Yaya has a fever again. We fed her a bit earlier and she fell asleep. Your loud voice would definitely wake her up.” The last part came with a clear hint of complaint.
Ye Linchuan was stupefied once again.
Incredulously, he stared at the half-open door.
She didn’t sneak out? Impossible, right?
Like father, like daughter. Ye Qinghe instantly understood the doubt in his eyes. Helplessly, he explained, “Ye Yaya was here when we came back. She specifically asked us to be gentle so as not to disturb your rest.”
Ye Linchuan’s expression was dazed.
“Ye Yaya said you’ve been taking care of her and it’s been tough, so you need to get some good sleep.”
Thinking of the expression with which his sister said those words, Ye Qinghe couldn’t help but smile.
“Oh, Ye Yaya asked me to give this to you.” With that, he pulled out a folded piece of paper from his school bag.
Ye Linchuan’s gaze flickered slightly, hesitating as he took it.
It was a drawing.
A man in the drawing was leading four children. From the tender lines, it was clear that the four children were Ye Qinghe, Ye Ziyu, and Shen Zhou and Shen Ran. Besides the people, she also drew a white cat and… a sparrow?
Ye Linchuan wrinkled his brow at the black sparrow perched on Shen Zhou’s shoulder, then averted his gaze.
[Certification of a Good Dad]
The six characters were at the top, and Ye Linchuan slightly pursed his lips.
[Congratulations, Ye Yuchuan, for passing the exam. You are now a qualified dad.]
What a nonsensical thing. Ye Linchuan chuckled, then saw four signatures below, each with a different handwriting, belonging to the four children.
He spaced out for a moment.
Ye Qinghe’s voice carried a playful tone. “Ye Yaya insisted we sign it, saying we were the examiners.”
Ye Linchuan clenched the paper and remained silent.
“But it’s strange, there’s no Ye Yaya on here. I asked her why she didn’t draw herself, but she didn’t say.”
Shen Zhou urged from behind to come eat, Ye Qinghe hurriedly tidied up the homework on the table, taking Ye Zhiyu and Shen Ran to the restroom to wash their hands.
“Uncle, let’s eat.”
Ye Linchuan gazed at the drawing in his hand, exhaled a breath, carefully placed the drawing in a drawer in his bedroom, and simultaneously suppressed his emotions, quietly sitting down.
Ye Yaya didn’t come out of her room the whole evening. At night, her symptoms suddenly worsened. Her temperature rose instead of falling, soaring to 38 degrees. Alongside it came an unbearable itchiness, tormenting the fragile nerves of the child. Ye Yaya wanted to scratch, but she couldn’t through her gloves. She felt hot all over, as if submerged in a sea of fire.
Ye Yaya was extremely uncomfortable. She lay on the bed, crying in distress. Her tears drenched her whole body, and her sweat-soaked hair clung to her face covered in chickenpox. She looked pitiful, a sight that tugged at the heartstrings.
Ye Liinchuan repeatedly applied a cold towel to her forehead, but the effect was minimal, and there was no improvement even after a while.
After crying for quite some time, she grew weary. Eventually, she couldn’t cry any longer, and only faint sobs remained.
“It’s all… all because I didn’t listen and that’s why the witch punished me.” Ye Yaya choked out her words, continuously apologizing, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I won’t wander around anymore. Witch… witch, please don’t come to find Ye Yaya again…”
As soon as she finished speaking, a gust of cool wind blew in from outside.
Ye Yaya was startled, her eyes widened, and her hairs stood on end. Her lips trembled. She rolled over and crawled onto Ye Linchuan, pulled open his pajamas, slipped inside along his clothes, and nestled herself tightly within, not daring to move even a bit.
