Transmigrated into the Cannon Fodder's Daughter - Chapter 66.2
By next year, Li Qianfei would have six younger siblings. How ridiculous! While her older brother and mother were being arrested, her father, much to her surprise, was sleeping around. And with so many women at that!
Li Qianfei should’ve known. If her father abandoned Li Xiao and her mother, there was no reason he wouldn’t abandon Li Qianfei.
Li Qianfei was displeased, but unfortunately, she couldn’t do anything; she didn’t dare to do anything. Uncle Zeng was dead, Uncle Ren was also in trouble, and if she made trouble with the Li family, she would genuinely have nowhere to go. With swollen, red eyes, she sat down at her seat, watching her grandmother pamper the six pregnant women. She felt numb.
“Sorry, I arrived a bit late.”
Li Qianfei looked up and watched as Li Xiao took the seat opposite of her. Li Xiao’s lips were curled into a smile: a beautiful, breath-stealing smile, more eye-catching than the lilies behind her.
“And these women are?”
Hoping that Li Xiao would share her sentiment, Li Qianfei said, “These six women are all carrying Dad’s children. Next year, they’ll be giving birth to our younger siblings.”
Li Qianfei watched as Li Xiao’s expression lit up. “Well, isn’t that good news?” Li Xiao said enthusiastically.
“I’ve always thought that Dad didn’t have very many children. Now, I won’t need to worry anymore. The more, the merrier.”
The arrival of Li Xiao had originally worried Qu Lian, but after hearing her words, Qu Lian’s expression eased up. Li Xiao surely was more magnanimous than Qianfei.
Li Qianfei stared at Li Xiao in disbelief. “Why? Why are you smiling?”
Li Xiao’s smile was rather sinister. “In any case, I’ve already received property. Even if Dad has 100 more children, I won’t be affected. But in your case, would you even receive 2% when the time comes? Your inheritance is decreasing, so you must be upset.”
Li Qianfei bit her lower lip. “That’s not true.”
Li Xiao’s words hit the nail. Before, Li Qianfei was sure that all of her father’s money would belong to her and her older brother. Now, however, her hold on the inheritance was loosening. And with her father and grandmother’s current prejudice against her, she wasn’t even sure she could get 2%.
Li Qianfei’s pale face brought ever-increasing joy to Li Xiao, who continued to sharply say, “Don’t worry. Your last name is still Li, so even if you don’t get an inheritance, you should still get a monthly allowance of a few thousand.”
Li Qianfei’s nails dug into the palm of her hand. A few thousand? Was she a beggar?
“Your mother will surely be happy about all the new children. Look at it this way. She doesn’t need to give birth or worry about her health. She’ll just have six new children. Since she’s willing to protect even an asshole like Zeng Lunian, surely, she’ll be willing to protect six lovely children.”
Qu Lian, who ordinarily despised Li Xiao, couldn’t help but admire Li Xiao’s prose. As such, Qu Lian exclaimed, “That’s right!”
Suddenly, Qu Lian’s tone became cold. “If she can’t even do that much, she doesn’t deserve the title of Mrs. Li.”
Li Qianfei shuddered, however, she was unsure if she was cold or terrified, perhaps both.
Li Nanjue silently rubbed his wine cup. His silence was a symbol of his agreeance.
Li Xiao took out a small box and said, “Today’s your 18th birthday, so I decided I ought to get you a present.”
Li Qianfei typically didn’t care much for Li Xiao’s presents. Qianfei just wanted mercy. She was sure Li Xiao had only come here to make fun of her. This may as well not be her coming-of-age. Now, however, Li Qianfei was mildly curious about Li Xiao’s gift.
Hesitantly, Li Qianfei opened the box, only to see a few talismans lying quietly inside. Li Qianfei couldn’t recognize the ghastly symbols on them or their purpose. She hatefully stared at Li Xiao.
“This is a fetus amulet. Place it on your body to make the fetus more stable. There are seven of them in there,” Li Xiao said. Glancing at Qu Lian from the corner of her eye, she continued, “Don’t worry, I won’t harm these children. After all, they can’t hurt me. Li Qianfei and a few others are the only ones who are disgusted. I can’t wait to see the new children when they’re born.”
Her words were nonchalant and reasonable.
Qu Lian was sure Li Xiao wouldn’t do anything, not after taking out the talismans in front of anyone. Qu Lian had personally seen Li Xiao’s profound power herself. However, Li Xiao and Zhan Jiayin were likely to become enemies because of the new children. Right now, Qu Lian and Li Xiao were on the same page, and so, without asking Li Qianfei, Qu Lian smiled as she put the box away. “Not bad. I like the gift very much.”
Li Qianfei nearly vomited blood. This was too much!
Qu Lian suddenly felt that something was amiss. “Why seven?” There were only six pregnant women.
“I read my father’s fate. In addition to Li Qianfei, Li Qianxing, and I, he will have seven more children, so I prepared them in advance.”
Seven!
Qu Lian was moved to tears. Finally, she wouldn’t have to worry about the lack of a successor. Today’s Li Xiao was radiating an angelic light in Qu Lian’s eyes.
Qu Lian hastily handed out the charms and advised the women, “Use it well.”
The six women hastily placed the talismans on themselves. Before, Qu Lian had promised that as long as a child was born, they would be given a house of more than 100 square feet plus five million. If the child was a boy, their rewards would be tripled. They were carrying, not a child, a golden egg. Each hoped that the child would be born safely and securely, and in the future, they may even get a share of the Li family assets. Although the family had not been doing well recently, they were still a successful family. Anything from the Li family was better than nothing.
Each also thought that Li Xiao wouldn’t dare to do anything to harm them. Li Qianfei, on the other hand, made the hair on the back of their necks stand up straight because of her sharp gaze.
When Li Qianfei saw this, she collapsed in fury. They had all joined hands together.
She suddenly realized how Li Xiao had felt because of her and her brother’s existence.
She wanted to lose her temper, but her father’s cold eyes sobered her up. Who could possibly help her now?
Suddenly, her phone rang. Li Qianfei looked down to see who it was: Lin Chaoxi. She had only invited Lin Chaoxi, her closest friend, to her birthday party. It was a good thing she didn’t invite more people, otherwise, she would’ve been publicly embarrassed.
Li Qianfei stood and wiped her eyes. “My friend is here. I’ll go get her.”
