Transmigrated into the Cannon Fodder's Daughter - Chapter 67.1
Lin Zhaoxi stood at the door, looking up at the Li family home.
She knew that their home was more than 2,000 square meters, and the average price in this neighborhood was more than 200,000. This house alone was worth several hundred million. The life of a wealthy person differed vastly from hers. Subconsciously, she longingly placed a hand on her stomach. She, too, wanted to live in a big house instead of in a room of less than five square feet, worrying about her living expenses and next month’s rent. Her greatest wish, since childhood, was to have her own house.
Li Qianfei wasn’t bad to Lin Zhaoxi, generous even, but Lin Zhaoxi didn’t dare to depend on her. She knew that Li Qianfei would turn her back on her eventually.
Even if Lin Zhaoxi studied and worked hard after graduation, who knew how long it would take to save enough money to buy a house? She had the brains, the face, but not the rich family. If Zhan Jiayin could be successful, why couldn’t she? After all, she could do even better than Jiayin. If it were her, Lin Zhaoxi would’ve safeguarded her assets, unlike Zhan Jiayin, who had lost everything.
Lin Zhaoxi sighed, waiting for Li Qianfei to come to pick her up.
But upon seeing Li Qianfei, Lin Zhaoxi froze. Li Qianfei, who was typically glowing, adorned with exquisite makeup, and covered with luxury brands, was teary and unrecognizable through her streaky makeup.
Was today not her coming-of-age? This was supposed to be a good day, so why was she crying like this? What was going on inside?
There were millions of questions in her mind, but Lin Zhaoxi retained her gentle demeanor. Her voice was filled with concern and worry as if she had rehearsed 1000 times. “Qianfei, what’s wrong?”
Lin Zhaoxi’s eyes were similar to Zhan Jiayin, and so when she looked at people, people were inclined to give her their wholehearted trust.
Li Qianfei’s pain doubled as she looked at those familiar eyes. “Zhaoxi, I’m so sad,” she choked out.
“Dad…Dad betrayed Mom and I…He had a child with another woman!”
Lin Zhaoxi instantly reeled. Li Nanjue cheated on his wife?
Qianfei was still overwhelmed by the shock of it all. In her more glamorous past, she had loved scrolling the internet and reading articles about Li Nanjue and Zhan Jiayin. Although the articles never presented Jiayin as the more beautiful or the most intelligent, they all admitted that she was perfect for Li Nanjue. The world had admired their picture-perfect romance. And although Zhan Jiayin’s ambiguous relationship with other men tainted their love, Li Nanjue never abandoned her.
But now…Li Nanjue had cheated.
Was this just a typical romance between rich people? Their romance popped and glimmered like a firework. But it was short-lived.
Li Qianfei gnawed at her lower lip, allowing the sting in her lips to snap her back to reality.
Frantically, Lin Zhaoxi took out a tissue and begged, “Qianfei, don’t cry. Let me help you fix your makeup.”
When Li Qianfei glanced at her reflection in her makeup mirror, the unsightliness of herself nearly made her scream. Li Xiao had witnessed this miserable version of herself, and Li Qianfei despaired that she lacked the ability to rewind time.
Lin Zhaoxi helped her remove her makeup and moved to help her reapply it.
“Let’s go back to the room to do my makeup,” Li Qianfei said.
Li Qianfei wasn’t used to the cheap drugstore makeup that Lin Zhaoxi offered her. She felt as though she had somehow downgraded.
Lin Zhaoxi froze. She smiled, “Okay.”
In front of Qianfei, she was always gentle and considerate. She never failed to prioritize Qianfei’s needs over her own.
Her gentle demeanor couldn’t help but touch Li Qianfei. “Zhaoxi, you’re really nice.” Even though Zhaoxi was broke, Qianfei deemed her worthy to keep as a friend.
