It appeared like Cherryl wasn’t completely oblivious, because occasionally, she would show a fierce side. Every time her meal ended, she would immediately make a dessert using the recipes she obtained from that pastry chef. Seeing her constantly admire it without rest, exclaiming how delicious it was, made his decision so satisfying. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that even if he wrote the business permit based on just one recipe she shared, it wouldn’t be an overstatement. How could his heart not melt when he sincerely wanted to provide her with a sweet life filled with good food? As Cade took the strange candy and bit into it, he lightly nibble on Cherryl’s finger.

“!” Cherryl couldn’t even make a sound as her eyes widened in shock. The hand she had used to feed him stopped mid-air exactly as it was. How bold of him to play such a vulgar prank with such a composed face, especially in a place with so many people? She looked down in dismay at her finger, which had a faint mark from his teeth. She couldn’t bite his finger childishly in return or it might only escalate the situation. While contemplating what to do, Cherryl fiercely muttered a few words. “I’ll get my revenge, Cade.”

Cade smirked, pretending to be scornful. “Didn’t you say you would get revenge on me before?”

“As I said, I’m still sharpening the blade of revenge.”

“I’m looking forward to that blade, Cherryl. Why don’t you give it a try?”

“Do you think I don’t know what to do and how I could do it? I can give you tremendous pain, you know.”

“Go ahead and take your revenge as much as you want.” He reached out his hand towards Cherryl’s face, his finger lightly brushing her lips. “I hope you will use your mouth. It would be nice if you can bite it, or even better, lick it.”

Astonished, Cherryl quickly grabbed his clothes. “How is that revenge? Moreover, there are so many people around. What if someone hears such remarks?”

Fortunately, the crowd surrounding the couple was completely absorbed in the bard’s performance. Although no one had paid attention to them, Cade chuckled softly and made another suggestion. “Then, shall we go to a place where there are no people?”

“Sure.” Anyone would have refused but Cherryl didn’t hesitate at all. Since they had seen enough of the festival, it seemed sensible to change location. She was also afraid that someone might overhear the lewd remarks of the Duke of Carlsvik, the lord of the castle, as he whispered while biting his wife’s finger in a tourist-packed area. They stepped out of the festival streets and strolled towards a quiet hill overlooking the river, passing by a row of carriages. The sky was gradually darkening. Due to the festival period, outdoor decorations lit up the surroundings with a soft glow, while the river shimmered with the reflection of the lights, rippling along with the breeze. By the time the faint sound of singing from the street diminished, the two found a spot near a bridge crossing the river. It wasn’t that cold, so Cade took his outer garment off and spread it on the grass. Cherryl, who had tried to object, ended up plopping down on it as she sat on her buttocks. Next, she rummaged through her belongings and took out something that would warm their bodies. It was a small flask containing strong distilled liquor.

“What is it?” Cade asked in a somewhat annoyed tone. “It’s alcohol.” Cherryl turned the lid to the side, grumbling, as it needed to be pulled up to open. “Ah! Why won’t it open?”

“I know it’s alcohol. I just want to ask why you brought that poisonous liquid straight out of your pocket.”

“Please don’t get mad. I’m not carrying alcohol around because I have an alcohol addiction or anything.”

“Did you buy it at the festival?”

“Yes. They were selling cola earlier, and out of curiosity, I bought it too.”

It was when they briefly stopped by a stall selling alcoholic beverages. Cherryl found the delicately crafted, small bottle filled with a pale pink liquid appealing, and the price was reasonable, so she picked it up without hesitation. The merchant had repeatedly warned Cherryl, who just bought his alcohol, to dilute it with juice or water before drinking. Despite its refined appearance, the liquor seemed to be extremely potent.

“You think there won’t be any occasions for you to get drunk in front of me? I’m curious if you can still say that after drinking this.” Although Cherryl was concerned about the chilly weather and Cade’s outer garment being taken off, she had taken out the alcohol because he wanted to see him intoxicated.  To be honest, she was somewhat hurt by Cade’s words earlier. It was a remark that ignited the embers hidden in Cherryl’s heart. As she received frustrated glances from Cade, she fidgeted with the bottle. Soon, the bottle cap opened with a mischievous sound.

“Don’t look at me like that. I didn’t buy it to drink.”

“Then why do you have the urge to drink it now? Close the lid again.”

“I just wanted to warm you up.”

Cade, who was about to make a retort, pursed his lips. With a triumphant smile, Cherryl extended the bottle towards him, her eyes sparkling. “Aren’t you feeling cold? Here, try drinking this.”

Once the words left her mouth, the cunning intention behind them became visible. Still, Cherryl didn’t back down and held the bottle closer to him. Cade couldn’t help but notice her mischievous aim. He glanced down at the bottle and then slowly raised his gaze, locking eyes with Cherryl’s. “If you want to warm me up, aren’t there better ways than alcohol?”

Cherryl, who had eagerly offered the bottle, quickly withdrew her hand in embarrassment.

“What kind of ways———?”
