Married To A Savage Duke - Chapter 77.1
Cherryl wondered briefly what to ask as she hummed. Then she realized that she was curious about Cade’s favorite color as well. She recalled the moment when Lily had asked about his preferences and favorite color, and she had stumbled to give a proper answer.
“What color do you like?” she suddenly asked. Cade raised an eyebrow at her question, which was no different from his own. “Didn’t we say that asking difficult questions was a rule?”
“Well, I got curious too. Is it black, by any chance?” Cherryl asked.
Cade stared at her intently. Wasn’t it said that questions were supposed to be asked one by one? Cherryl was breaking all the rules she had mentioned earlier. Instead of pointing it out, Cade reached out and brushed his fingers against Cherryl’s blushing cheek. He could feel the warmth emanating from her as if a slight flush had come over her. It seemed like the heat was rising a little, and her drooping eyelids were not helping the situation either. Cherryl sensed that the silence had been going on for quite a while and expressed her curiosity.
“Why are you like this?” she asked.
“Are you in the mood?” Cade replied.
“No, not really. Answer quickly, or else I’ll make you drink a penalty.” She urged him with a slightly muffled voice. Cade briefly enjoyed the warmth and soft texture of her touch on his knuckles. He considered himself to have a decent tolerance for alcohol, but was she already drunk? Even before he joined, he had noticed that she had already had a few drinks. It must have rapidly increased her intoxication level, as she was in a good mood before she started drinking alone. Glancing briefly at the bottle of alcohol, Cade gave an honest answer.
“I don’t have a favorite color.”
Displeasure burst out from her red lips. “Then the game can’t proceed. Where in the world can you find someone who doesn’t have a favorite color?”
“It seems like you have one right in front of you.”
“Oh, come on. Don’t you at least think there’s a color you find pretty? Really? None at all?”
Cade, who had been wearing an indifferent expression, suddenly stared intently into Cherryl’s eyes. He was examining her so closely that she wondered if something was on her face. Her heart raced, but she didn’t break away from his gaze. Without a word, Cade finally spoke up.
“I think blue is beautiful.”
“Blue?” Cherryl raised an eyebrow at his ambiguous answer. Blue was a color that cannot be easily defined. It encompasses various shades of light and dark blues, even reaching into the realm of greens, didn’t it?
The low tone continued. “When it catches the light, it appears as a bright sky blue, but in the darkness, it becomes as deep blue as the ocean. Among all the colors I’ve seen, I consider it the most beautiful.”
Cherryl blinked a few times and burst into laughter. She might as well not have asked for his favorite color, because his response was an opinion on her eyes.
“Why do you say that?”
Cade, whose lips were involuntarily curved upwards, opened his mouth. “Now it’s my turn.”
“Ask your question. I’m ready.”
Cherryl slowly closed her eyes and propped her chin on her hand. At the same time, Cade moved closer to her, as if trying to stop her from distancing herself. He held Cherryl’s hand and gently clasped her fingertips but he didn’t stop there. He traced his thumb slowly and gently along the part where her palm met her wrist. It was the hand he had held while enjoying the winter festival, but now it felt completely different. Cade, who had been silently gazing down at Cherryl, finally spoke. “Are you drunk?”
“Is that a question you’re asking?”
“I asked a question.”
“Uh…No? I feel a bit hazy, but I’m alright,” Cherryl looked at Cade with a puzzled expression. She couldn’t understand why he asked the same question as before, even though she had explained the rules. Anyway, Cade missed the chance to make her drink, and now it was her turn. Cherryl swallowed a dry spit. Since the night the princess appeared and caused a fuss, there had been something she had wanted to confirm. After taking a deep breath, she cautiously took a chance. “Have you ever met another woman besides me?”
“No, I haven’t.”
It was a clear and immediate answer, without any hesitation. Although she had somewhat expected that answer, her curiosity didn’t easily subside. Had this handsome man never been involved with another woman in his entire life?
“Really? Not even once since you were born? So, you’ve never held hands with anyone before you met me? Or kissed?”
“How many times are you going to ask that? It’s my turn to ask a question.”
Cade swiftly interrupted Cherryl’s offensive question. Feeling somewhat ridiculous, Cherryl couldn’t help but chuckle softly. Cade, who had exerted a slight force on her clasped hand, opened his mouth with a subtle tone. “I want to do it before you get any more drunk, what do you think?”
The atmosphere, which had been filled with laughter, suddenly grew as tense as a coin. Cherryl slightly moistened her throat and defensively hunched her shoulders.
“W-What… What do you mean?”
